Clydebuilt ist der Name eines Start-Ups, welches gegründet wurde, um ein neues Residenz-Schiff-Projekt auf den Weg zu bringen. Die Gründer sind Führungskräfte mit umfassender Erfahrung in den Bereichen Schiffbau, Offshore-Projekte, Konstruktionstechnik und Produktentwicklung. Sie verfügen eigenen Angaben zu Folge über ein Netzwerk von Partnern aus vielen Branchen wie Tourismus, Gastgewerbe und Bildung, welches das vorhandene technische Knowhow ergänze.
Das Residenz-Schiff mit einer Länge von 228 Metern soll in der Ultra-Luxus-Klasse angesiedelt sein, ausgestattet mit 236 Suiten für eine, zwei oder drei Personen. Das Schiff soll den Namen DARK ISLAND tragen. Nach derzeitigen Planungen soll es in Schottland gebaut und bis 2028 fertig gestellt werden und dann für mindestens 50 Jahre im Dienst bleiben. Dazu soll es höchsten Umweltstandards entsprechen.
Der Start der DARK ISLAND soll eine dreijährige Weltreise auf den Spuren von Christoph Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake und James Cook.
Den Namen DARK ISLAND hat man übrigens nach einer Insel der Äußeren Hebriden im Nordwesten Schottlands gewählt. Die Insel Benbecula ist eine der fünf Hauptinseln dieser Inselkette und gilt als wahres Juwel der Hebriden – ein Ort der Schönheit, Ruhe und des Friedens – daher der Name Dark Island. Die Dark Island erinnert an vergangene Zeiten, in denen die Zeit stillzustehen scheint und die Sorgen verfliegen – ein Ort zum Verlieben, an dem die Kultur intakt und unverwechselbar bleibt.
DARK ISLAND – The New Residence Ship Project
Background to the project and the unusual name
Clydebuilt is the name of a startup founded to launch a new residence ship project. The founders are executives with extensive experience in shipbuilding, offshore projects, construction engineering, and product development. They claim to have a network of partners from many industries, including tourism, hospitality and education, that complements their existing technical expertise.
The residence ship with a length of 228 meters will be ultra-luxury, equipped with 236 suites for one, two, or three people. The ship will be named DARK ISLAND. According to current plans, it is scheduled for completion by 2028 and to remain in service for at least 50 years. It will also meet the highest environmental standards.
The DARK ISLAND will first embark on a three-year voyage around the world, following in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake, and James Cook.
The name DARK ISLAND was chosen after an island in the Outer Hebrides in northwest Scotland. Benbecula is one of the five main islands in this chain of islands and is considered a true jewel of the Hebrides – a place of beauty, tranquility, and peace – hence the name Dark Island. The Dark Island evokes times gone by, where time seems to stand still and worries vanish – a place to fall in love, where the culture remains intact and distinctive.
