Im Rahmen einer grandiosen Sommer-Party an Bord wurde die UTOPIA OF THE SEAS am 15. Juli in Port Canaveral getauft.

UTOPIA OF THE SEAS Christening Party

More than 4,000 guests as well as crew members and executives from Royal Caribbean attended the exuberant party. The party was also the start of the „holiday of celebration“ that Royal Caribbean ushered in. The highlight of the party was Meghan Trainor’s performance. But the celebration was far from over. Further parties and live performances took place as part of a three-day christening trip.

BELLA FORTUNA ex SONG OF AMERICA wird verschrottet

Song of America

BELLA FORTUNA ex SONG OF AMERICA To Be Scrapped

The BELLA FORTUNA (IMO 7927984), built in 1982 as SONG OF AMERICA, will soon be scrapped. This was already apparent after the cruise ship passed through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea towards the Middle East this spring and has been docked in Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates for a few weeks.

The cruise liner was built in 1981/1982 by Wärtsilä in Helsinki Royal Caribbean Cruises . The ship remained with Royal Caribbean until 1998. In the following years there were several changes of ownership and, with them, name changes. The further names were SUN BIRD, THOMSON DESTINY, LOUIS OLYMPIA and CELESTYAL OLYMPIA. The ship was last used for cruises under the latter name for Celestyal Cruises.

The BELLA FORTUNA is 214.50 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 37,773. She has a passenger capacity of 1,575 passengers.

Taufe der ICON OF THE SEAS in Miami

Großartige Schiffstaufe in Miami

Das größte Kreuzfahrtschiff der Welt, die ICON OF THE SEAS, wurde am 24. Januar 2024 in Miami getauft.

Januar sticht die ICON OF THE SEAS erstmals mit Urlaubern an Bord in See.

The world’s largest cruise ship, the ICON OF THE SEAS, was christened in Miami on January 24, 2024. Her godfather was the soccer star Lionel Messi. The world footballer, who is now playing for Inter Miami, initiated the ship’s christening in style with a soccer ball. The christening of the ICON OF THE SEAS was celebrated with shows by high divers and aerial acrobats. It was an event with a lot of show and pomp, just as one would expect from a ship naming ceremony in Miami.

The ICON OF THE SEAS (IMO 9829930) is 364.75 meters long and measured with a gross tonnage of 248,663. She was handed over to Royal Caribbean International in 2023 by the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Two more Icon-class cruise ships are now under construction, scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026, respectively.

Kiellegung für STAR OF THE SEAS

The keel laying of the STAR OF THE SEAS took place at Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland on December 15, 2023. When the first steel block was lowered into the building dock, construction of the hull began. Traditionally, some coins were placed under the first steel block to bring good luck to the project.

The STAR OF THE SEAS will be a sister ship to the ICON OF THE SEAS, the largest cruise ship in the world, which was recently handed over from the shipyard to Royal Caribbean Cruises. The STAR OF THE SEAS is scheduled for completion in 2025.

CELESTYAL OLYMPIA vor der Verschrottung?

CELESTYAL OLYMPIA

CELESTYAL OLYMPIA

CELESTYAL OLYMPIA about to be scrapped?

Built in 1981 / 1982 by Wärtsilä in Helsinki, Finland, as SONG OF AMERICA for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line: the CELESTYAL OLYMPIA (IMO 7927984). Celestyal Cruises has operated the cruise ship since 2012, initially under the name LOUIS OLYMPIA. With the purchase of the AIDAaura from AIDA Cruises a few weeks ago, Celestyal Cruises no longer have any use for the 41-year-old CELESTYAL OLYMPIA. Given her age, it is unlikely to find a buyer for the “old lady” to continue operating her as a cruise ship. It is therefore expected that the CELESTYAL OLYMPIA will soon set course for a scrapping yard.
