Fincantieri Delivered New Luxury Cruise Ship VIKING MIRA to Viking Cruises

The Delivery of VIKING MIRA

The renowned Italian shipyard Fincantieri and Viking Cruises celebrated the official delivery of the newest addition to their fleet—the VIKING MIRA (IMO 9852456)—during a ceremonial event at the shipyard in Ancona. With the handover of this state-of-the-art cruise ship, Viking steadfastly continues its strategy of exclusive „small-ship cruising“ and further expands its presence on the world’s oceans.

Design and Technology Driven by Efficiency

According to both the cruise line and the shipyard, the VIKING MIRA is an architectural and technical masterpiece that, with a gross tonnage (GT) of 54,300, offers a spacious sense of openness while maintaining an intimate atmosphere. The ship was designed specifically for discerning travelers who value a tranquil, education-focused onboard environment.

With a capacity of 998 guests—accommodated in 998 cabins, all featuring private verandas—the ship guarantees a first-class guest-to-space ratio. During construction, Fincantieri integrated cutting-edge standards regarding sustainability and efficiency. These include, among other features, exhaust gas after-treatment systems that comply with strict Euro 6 emission standards, as well as highly efficient waste heat recovery utilizing a steam turbine. Furthermore, the VIKING MIRA is designed for shore power connection and features innovative waste treatment systems that thermally process organic materials.

Operating Regions: The Mediterranean and Northern Europe

Following its ceremonial commissioning, the VIKING MIRA will enter active service. Her operating area will span the diverse itineraries of the Mediterranean as well as the spectacular coastlines of Northern Europe. Thanks to its compact design, the ship is able to call at smaller, less frequented ports that often remain inaccessible to larger cruise ships. This provides guests with more exclusive access to cultural treasures and breathtaking natural landscapes.
