Genting lässt weitere Kreuzfahrtschiffe in Deutschland bauen
Am 9. Dezember 2019 wurde bei den MV-Werften die Kiel-Legung des zweiten Schiffs der Global Class für Dream Cruises gefeiert. Die Muttergesellschaft Genting hat diesen Event zum Anlass genommen, den Bau weiterer Schiffe bei den MV-Werften bekanntzugeben. Nach der Global Class folgt damit die Universal Class. Die Größe der Universal Class-Schiffe soll mit je etwa 88.000 gross tons deutlich unter denen der Global Class liegen. Die angepeilte Passagier-Kapazität liegt bei etwa 2.000.
Genting beabsichtigt, diese neuen Schiffe für Hotel-Ketten zu betreiben, die eigentlich gern ins Kreuzfahrtgeschäft einsteigen würden, den Schritt aber allein nicht wagen wollten und dabei ohnehin keine freien Kapazitäten bei den einschlägigen Werften fänden. Mit dem Label „Made in Germany“ und der Erfahrung beim Bau zweier Mega-Schiffe könne man interessierten Hotel-Ketten ein attraktives Produkt bieten.
Wenn die Universal Class gebaut wird, sind die Auftragsbücher bei den MV-Werften bis 2024 gefüllt. Das erste Schiff dieser Reihe soll schon 2022 ausgeliefert werden.

Genting surprising with more new buildings and a new idea
On December 9, 2019, the keel-laying of the second ship of the Global Class for Dream Cruises was celebrated at MV yards. The parent company Genting has used this event as an opportunity to announce the construction of additional ships at the MV shipyards. The Global Class will be followed by the Universal Class. The size of the Universal Class ships, each with approximately 88,000 tons, should be well below those of the Global Class. The targeted passenger capacity is around 2,000.
Genting intends to operate these new ships for hotel chains, which would actually like to get into the cruise business, but did not want to venture the step alone and would find no free capacity at the relevant shipyards anyway. With the label „Made in Germany“ and the experience of building two mega-ships, interested hotel chains can be offered an attractive product.
When the Universal Class is built, the order books at the MV shipyards are filled until 2024. The first ship of this series should already be delivered in 2022.
