IONA verlässt Bauhalle in Papenburg
Das neueste Schiff für die Flotte der P&O Cruises, die IONA, hat die Bauhalle der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg verlassen. In der Nacht zum 14. Februar 2020 erfolgte die Ausdockung.
Die IONA ist das dritte Schiff der Helios-Klasse und das zweite Schiff dieser Reihe, das in Papenburg entsteht. Dabei handelt es sich um moderne Kreuzfahrtschiffe mit hochmodernem LNG-Antrieb. Die IONA (IMO 9826548) soll Platz für etwa 5.200 Passagiere bieten. Ablieferung des nach einer Hebriden-Insel benannten Schiffs ist für Mai 2020 vorgesehen. Ein Schwesterschiff für P&O soll 2022 folgen.

IONA left construction hall in Papenburg
The latest ship for the P&O Cruises fleet, the IONA, has left the Meyer-Werft construction hall in Papenburg. The float out took place in the night of February 14, 2020.
The IONA is the third ship of the Helios class and the second ship in this series to be built in Papenburg. These are modern cruise ships with state-of-the-art LNG propulsion. The IONA (IMO 9826548) is said to offer space for around 5,200 passengers. Delivery of the ship named after a Hebridean island is scheduled for May 2020. A sister ship for P&O is to follow in 2022.
