Gotlandsbolaget übernimmt Kreuzfahrtschiff von Rederi AB Eckerö

Die schwedische Reederei Gotlandsbolaget übernimmt die 2003 / 2004 im finnischen Rauma gebaute BIRKA STOCKHOLM von der auf den Ålandinseln ansässigen Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff lag seit 2020 in Mariehamn, Åland-Inseln, auf und suchte seitdem einen Käufer.

Gotlandsbolaget ist Betreiber der Fährgesellschaft Destination Gotland und betrieb 2022 auch eine Fährlinie nach Deutschland. Destination Gotland soll auch die noch umzubenennende BIRKA STOCKHOLM betreiben. Es sollen Kurz-Kreuzfahrten zwischen den Häfen Stockholm, Visby und Mariehamn angeboten werden.

Die 177 Meter lange und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 34.924 vermessene BIRKA STOCKHOLM (IMO 9273727) ist speziell für Kurz-Kreuzfahrten konzipiert. Sie hat Platz für bis zu 1.800 Passagiere.

Gotlandsbolaget taking over cruise ship from Rederi AB Eckerö

The Swedish shipping company Gotlandsbolaget is taking over the BIRKA STOCKHOLM, built in Rauma, Finland, in 2003/2004 from Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö, based on the Åland Islands. The cruise ship has been laid up in Mariehamn, Åland Islands, since 2020 and has been looking for a buyer ever since.

Gotlandsbolaget is the operator of the ferry company Destination Gotland and also operated a ferry line to Germany in 2022. Destination Gotland is also to operate the BIRKA STOCKHOLM, which has yet to be renamed. Short cruises between the ports of Stockholm, Visby and Mariehamn are to be offered.

The BIRKA STOCKHOLM (IMO 9273727), 177 meters long and with a gross tonnage of 34,924, is specially designed for short cruises. She has a passenger capacity of 1,800.
