OCEAN ATLANTIC to be scrapped

Last ship of the Dmitriy Shostakovic class
On May 3, the OCEAN ATLANTIC arrived in Aliaga, Turkey, to be scrapped. This marks the end of the last ship of the Dmitriy Shostakovic class, which once comprised seven sister ships.
The OCEAN ATLANTIC (IMO 8325432) was operated by SunStone Ships and most recently sailed under charter for Albatros Expeditions. Due to the long layup during the COVID pandemic and its subsequent use as a residential ship for Ukrainian war refugees, the ship was recently in poor condition. The sale to the scrapyard was the next step in SunStone Ships‘ fleet rejuvenation program.
The ship had been built in 1985/1986 on the Stocznia Szczecinska shipyard in Poland as the RoRo ferry KONSTANTIN CHERNENKO for the Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO). After being rebuilt and renamed SC ATLANTIC in 2010, she was used exclusively for cruises. In 2012, she was renamed OCEAN ATLANTIC.
The 139.55-meter-long ship had a gross tonnage of 12,798.

Actually, NOT the last of the Dmitri Shostakovich class of 7. The Konstantin Simonov aka Ocean Endeavour is still in service.
