Photo Gallery: Ceremonial Christening of VIKING MIRA in Venice

die Taufe der VIKING MIRA in Venedig

During a traditional ceremony in Venice, the VIKING MIRA (IMO 9852456) was ceremonially welcomed into the fleet. Godmother was Rebecca „Becky“ Webb Wilson—a renowned attorney, author, photographer, and philanthropist—who sent the ship off with her best wishes for its maiden season.

A Fusion of Tradition and Vision

The christening ceremony reflected the signature Viking style: a blend of Norwegian tradition and cultural elegance. Rebecca Webb Wilson performed the christening act in classic fashion, using a broad Viking axe to cut a ribbon and send a bottle of Norwegian aquavit crashing against the ship’s hull. The festivities were accompanied by the musical stylings of world-renowned crossover soprano Sissel Kyrkjebø, who is herself closely connected to the Viking family, having served as the godmother of the VIKING JUPITER.

The VIKING MIRA

The VIKING MIRA embodies the concept of modern „small ship“ cruising. With a gross tonnage of 54,300 tons, the ship accommodates 998 guests in 499 suites, all of which feature private verandas. Its design is characterized by Scandinavian elegance, light-filled public spaces, and a variety of opportunities for al fresco dining. The ship will now continue its maiden season in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, offering guests the signature, exclusive Viking experience.
