SUPERSTAR LIBRA soll verschrottet werden
Ehemaliges NCL-Schiff hat ausgedient.
Die 1987 / 88 als SEAWARD (IMO 8612134) bei Wärtsilä in Turku gebaute SUPERSTAR LIBRA soll wohl in Kürze zur Abwrackwerft gebracht werden.
Das 216 Meter lange und mit ca. 42.000 gros tons vermessene Schiff wurde seinerzeit für Kloster Cruises gebaut und wurde 1997 mit Übergang in die Flotte der Norwegian Cruise Line in NORWEGIAN SEA umbenannt. 2005 wurde der Cruise Liner durch die zum Genting-Konzern gehörende Muttergesellschaft Star Cruises übernommen und in SUPERSTAR LIBRA umbenannt.
2018 verbrachten Genting den Liner nach Wismar, wo er zunächst umgebaut wurde und fortan als Unterkunftsschiff für Werftarbeiter diente.
Nun wird die SUPERSTAR LIBRA für eine weitere Reise vorbereitet. Dem Vernehmen nach wird diese zu einer türkischen Abwrackwerft führen.
SUPERSTAR LIBRA is about to be scrapped
The SUPERSTAR LIBRA, built in 1987/88 as SEAWARD (IMO 8612134) near Wärtsilä in Turku, will probably be brought to the scrapping yard shortly.
The ship, 216 meters long and measured at approx. 42,000 gross tons, was built for Kloster Cruises at the time and was renamed NORWEGIAN SEA in 1997 when she was transferred to the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. In 2005 the cruise liner was taken over by the Star Cruises, part oft he Genting group, and renamed SUPERSTAR LIBRA.
In 2018, Genting took the liner to Wismar, where it was first converted and from then on served as an accommodation ship for shipyard workers.
Now the SUPERSTAR LIBRA is being prepared for another voyage. According to reports, this will lead to a Turkish scrapping yard.
