Shanghai, 28. Mai 2026 –Die ADORA FLORA CITY, das neueste Kreuzfahrtschiff der Reederei Adora Cruises, hat ihre ersten Testfahrten (Sea Trials) erfolgreich aufgenommen. Damit tritt der Bau des beeindruckenden 142.000-Bruttotonnen-Schiffes in seine entscheidende Endphase vor der geplanten Auslieferung Ende dieses Jahres.

Umfassendes Testprogramm unter Realbedingungen

 Am 16. Mai verließ die ADORA FLORA CITY (IMO 9871048) die Werft von Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), um ein zwölftägiges, intensives Testprogramm im Ostchinesischen Meer zu absolvieren. Ziel der Erprobung ist es, alle Systeme – von der Antriebstechnik und Manövrierfähigkeit bis hin zu komplexen Navigationssystemen und dem Hotelbetrieb – unter realen Bedingungen auf Herz und Nieren zu prüfen. Hierbei wird sichergestellt, dass das Schiff alle internationalen Sicherheits- und Betriebsstandards vollumfänglich erfüllt.

Treffern der Schwesterschiffe

 Ein besonderer Moment ereignete sich direkt zum Auftakt der Testfahrten: Die ADORA FLORA CITY wurde am 16. Mai erstmals gemeinsam mit ihrem Schwesterschiff, der ADORA MAGIC CITY, auf hoher See gesichtet und fotografiert. Beide Schiffe wurden in der SWS-Werft gefertigt und repräsentieren die neue Generation der Adora Cruises-Flotte.

Vorbereitung auf den Marktstart in Südchina

Nach der geplanten Auslieferung Ende 2026 wird die ADORA FLORA CITY in den südchinesischen Markt verlegt. Der Ticketverkauf für die Jungfernreisesaison ist bereits in vollem Gange – seit dem 20. Mai können Kreuzfahrtbegeisterte ihre Plätze sichern. Das mit Spannung erwartete Debüt findet am 22. November 2026 ab dem Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport statt. Die erste Reise führt die Gäste in einer sechstägigen Kreuzfahrt von Guangzhou nach Hongkong und Hue, Vietnam.

Shanghai, May 28, 2026 – The ADORA FLORA CITY the newest cruise ship from the cruise line Adora Cruises, has successfully commenced its initial sea trials. With this milestone, the construction of the impressive 142,000-gross-ton vessel enters its critical final phase ahead of its scheduled delivery later this year.

Comprehensive Testing Program Under Real-World Conditions

On May 16, the ADORA FLORA CITY (IMO 9871048) departed the shipyard of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) to undergo an intensive twelve-day testing program in the East China Sea. The objective of these trials is to rigorously test all onboard systems—ranging from propulsion technology and maneuverability to complex navigation systems and hotel operations—under real-world conditions. This process ensures that the ship fully complies with all international safety and operational standards.

A rendez-vous of sister ships

 A special moment occurred right at the outset of the sea trials: on May 16, the ADORA FLORA CITY was sighted and photographed at sea alongside her sister ship, the ADORA MAGIC CITY for the very first time. Both vessels were constructed at the SWS shipyard and represent the new generation of the Adora Cruises fleet.

Preparing for Market Launch in South China

 Following its scheduled delivery in late 2026, the ship will be deployed to the South China market. Ticket sales for the maiden season are already in full swing; as of May 20, cruise enthusiasts have been able to secure their bookings. The highly anticipated debut is scheduled to take place on November 22, 2026, departing from the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport. The inaugural voyage will take guests on a six-day cruise from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and Hue, Vietnam.

Auf der chinesischen Werft Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co.  ist die ADORA FLORA CITY aufgeschwommen. Sie wird dort für die chinesische Kreuzfahrtmarke Adora Cruises gebaut.

Die ADORA FLORA CITY (IMO 9871048) ist das zweite große Kreuzfahrtschiff, das in China gebaut wird. Es basiert – ebenso wie das Schwesterschiff ADORA MAGIC CITY – auf der Vista-Klasse der Carnival Corp., wobei das neue Schiff etwa 17 Meter länger wird. Es wird 2.130 Passagier-Kabinen bekommen. Die ADORA FLORA CITY soll bis Ende 2026 fertiggestellt werden und Anfang 2027 ihren Dienst aufnehmen. Diese Zeitspanne ist ein Beleg für die bisher geringe Erfahrung chinesischer Werften im Kreuzfahrtschiffbau. Europäische Werften stellen Kreuzfahrtschiffe dieser Größe in der Regel innerhalb weniger Monate nach dem Aufschwimmen fertig.

ADORA FLORA CITY has been floated at the Chinese shipyard Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. She is under construction for the Chinese cruise brand Adora Cruises.

The ADORA FLORA CITY (IMO 9871048) is the second large cruise ship to be built in China. Like her sister ship, the ADORA MAGIC CITY, she is based on Carnival Corp.’s Vista class, although the new ship will be approximately 17 meters longer. She will have 2,130 passenger cabins. The ADORA FLORA CITY is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and enter service in early 2027. This timeframe reflects the limited experience Chinese shipyards have in cruise ship construction. European shipyards typically complete cruise ships of this size within a few months after launching.

Auf der CSSC Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. entsteht derzeit der zweite Neubau für die chinesische Kreuzfahrtgsellschaft Adora Cruises. Das Schiff, das 2026 fertiggestellt werden soll, wird den Namen ADOR FLORA CITY erhalten. Der Name spielt auf die Hafenstadt Guangzhou an, die auch „Stadt der Blumen“ genannt wird.

Die ADOR FLORA CITY wird mit einer Länge von 341 Metern und einer Bruttoraumzahl von 141.900 deutlich größer als der erste Neubau ADORA MAGIC CITY. Sie wird 17,40 Meter länger und wird Platz für 5.232 Passagiere in 2.130 Kabinen bieten. Bereits am 20. April 2024 war die ADORA FLORA CITY auf Kiel gelegt worden.

The second new build for the Chinese cruise company Adora Cruises is currently being built at CSSC Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The ship, which is due to be completed in 2026, will be named ADOR FLORA CITY. The name alludes to the city of Guangzhou, which is also called the „City of Flowers“.

With a length of 341 meters and a gross tonnage of 141,900, the ADOR FLORA CITY will be significantly larger than the first new build, ADORA MAGIC CITY. She will be 17.40 meters longer and will offer space for 5,232 passengers in 2,130 cabins. The ADORA FLORA CITY was laid on keel on April 20, 2024.

Das erste wirklich große in China gebaute Kreuzfahrtschiff wurde am 4. November 2023, drei Jahre nach der Kiellegung, an Adora Cruises übergeben. Die ADORA MAGIC CITY (IMO 9871036) ist 323,60 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 135.500 vermessen. Sie bietet Platz für 5.246 Passagiere in 2.125 Kabinen. Der Cruise Liner mit 16 Decks ist ein Schiff der Vista-Klasse der Carnival Corporation. Sie wurde gebaut von Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding für die CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Ltd., einem Joint Venture der China State Shipbuilding Corporation und Carnival Corporation. Diese betreiben die ADORA MAGIC CITY unter der Marke Adora Cruises.

Fan Jinshi, chinesische Archäologin und Kulturerbe-Spezialisten, in China auch bekannt als „Tochter von Dunhuang“, nahm die Rolle der Namensbotschafterin für das neue Schiff wahr, um es offiziell auf seinen Namen zu taufen.

Die Jungfernfahrt der ADORA MAGIC CITY wird am 1. Januar 2024 in Shanghai beginnen.

First large cruise ship built in China

The first truly large cruise ship built in China was handed over to Adora Cruises on November 4th, 2023 – 3 years after keel laying. The ADORA MAGIC CITY (IMO 9871036) is 323.60 meters long and measured with a gross tonnage of 135,500. She has a passenger capacity of 5,246 in 2,125 cabins. The 16-deck cruise liner is a Vista-class ship of the Carnival Corporation. She was built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Ltd., a joint venture between China State Shipbuilding Corporation and Carnival Corporation. They will operate the ADORA MAGIC CITY under the Adora Cruises brand.

Fan Jinshi, Chinese archaeologist and heritage specialist, also known as the “Daughter of Dunhuang” in China, took on the role of naming ambassador for the new ship to officially christen it.

The ADORA MAGIC CITY’s maiden voyage will start in Shanghai on January 1, 2024.
