Aktuelle Video-Aufnahmen vom ehemaligen Kreuzfahrtschiff

Das ehemalige Kreuzfahrtschiff ENCHANTED CAPRI, gebaut 1975 bei Wärtsilä in Turku, Finnland, als AZERBAIDZHAN und eines der letzten verbliebenen Schiffe der Belorussiya-Klasse, sollte eigentlich ab Ende 2020 in Coatzacoalcos, Mexiko, verschrottet werden. Es wurde Ende Oktober 2020 aber dort noch einmal in Schlepp genommen, um nach Tampico gebracht und dort verschrottet zu werden. Am 2. November 2020 lief die ENCHANTED CAPRI jedoch bei schwerer See auf Grund. Das Schiff sollte fortan vor Ort abgewrackt werden. Es liegt nun als Wrack an der Playa de Alvarado im mexikanischen Bundesstaat Veracruz.

In diesem Video gibt es ab Minute 7:33 ganz aktuelle, schaurig-schöne Aufnahmen von dem Wrack.

Wreck of the ENCHANTED CAPRI – eerily beautiful shots

The former cruise ship ENCHANTED CAPRI, built in 1975 by Wärtsilä in Turku, Finland, as AZERBAIDZHAN, was supposed to be scrapped in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, from the end of 2020, but was towed away again at the end of October 2020 to be brought to Tampico and to be scrapped there. On November 2, 2020, however, the ENCHANTED CAPRI ran aground in heavy seas. The ship was to be scrapped on site from now on. It is now lying as a wreck on Playa de Alvarado in the Mexican state of Veracruz. In the above video from minute 7:33 you will find very current, eerily beautiful shots of the wreck.

Ende für ehemaligen Cruise Liner der Belorussiya-Klasse

Sie war eines von fünf Schwesterschiffen der Belorussiya-Klasse: die ENCHANTED CAPRI (IMO 7359474). Fast 20 Jahre lang war das Passagierschiff bereits nicht mehr als Cruise Liner im Einsatz, sondern diente für eine mexikanische Gesellschaft als Wohn-Schiff für Arbeiter auf Bohrinseln im Golf von Mexiko.

Nun soll der Liner in Coatzacoalcos verschrottet werden.

Das Schiff wurde 1975 / 76 bei Wärtsilä in Turku als Cruise Ferry AZERBAYDZHAN für die Black Sea Shipping Company gebaut. Unter den Namen ARKADYA, ISLAND HOLIDAY und ENCHANTED CAPRI war sie später als Kreuzfahrtschiff unterwegs, als letztes für Commodore Cruise Lines, die 2001 in Insolvenz gingen.

Aus der Belorussiya-Klasse ist noch die SALAMIS FILOXENIA (ex GRUZIYA, IMO 7359400) erhalten, die noch bis zum Ausbruch der Pandemie als Kreuzfahrtschiff unterwegs war. Auch die DELPHIN ex BELORUSSIYA (IMO 7347536) existiert noch, dürfte aber nach Jahren des Aufliegens kaum noch eine Zukunft haben.

The end for former Belorussiya class cruise liner

She was one of five sister ships of the Belorussiya class: the ENCHANTED CAPRI (IMO 7359474). For almost 20 years, the passenger ship was no longer in use as a cruise liner, but served as accommodation ship for a Mexican company for workers on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

Now the liner is to be scrapped in Coatzacoalcos.

The ship was built in 1975/76 by Wärtsilä Turku shipyard as Cruise Ferry AZERBAYDZHAN for the Black Sea Shipping Company. Under the names ARKADYA, ISLAND HOLIDAY and ENCHANTED CAPRI she later sailed as a cruise ship, last for Commodore Cruise Lines, which went bankrupt in 2001.

The SALAMIS FILOXENIA (ex GRUZIYA, IMO 7359400) is one of the remaining Belorussiya class ships that have survived; she was still sailing as a cruise ship until the outbreak of the pandemic. The DELPHIN ex BELORUSSIYA (IMO 7347536) also still exists, but after years of lay-up she will hardly have a future.
