Am 29. April wurde die DISCOVERY PRINCESS in einer phantasievollen Zeremonie im Hafen von Los Angeles getauft.

Vier Fernsehstars und Showmoderatoren traten gemeinsam als Taufpaten auf: Modedesigner Randy Fenoli, der Küchenchef Alex Guarnaschelli, der Spezialeffektdesigner und -hersteller Adam Savage sowie der Immobilienmakler und Flipper Extraordinaire Page Turner. In Anwesenheit von Kapitän Gennaro Arma schickten sie eine riesige Flasche Champagner Richtung Bordwand, womit die Discovery Princess offiziell getauft und in der Flotte von Princess Cruises aufgenommen war.

Die 3.660 Gäste fassende Discovery Princess wurde bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italien, gebaut und ist der sechste und letzte Neubau der Royal-Klasse. Ihre Schwesterschiffe sind die Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess und Royal Princess.

Die DISCOVERY PRINCESS wird in ihrer ersten Sommersaison für siebentägige Alaska-Kreuzfahrten von Seattle aus eingesetzt.

Naming Ceremony for DISCOVERY PRINCESS

On April 29th, the DISCOVERY PRINCESS was christened in an imaginative ceremony in the port of Los Angeles. Four television stars and show hosts appeared as godparents together: fashion designer Randy Fenoli, chef Alex Guarnaschelli, special effects designer and producer Adam Savage, and real estate agent and flipper extraordinaire Page Turner. In the presence of Captain Gennaro Arma, they sent a huge bottle of champagne towards the ship’s hull, officially christening the Discovery Princess and welcoming her to the Princess Cruises fleet.

Built at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, the 3,660-guest Discovery Princess is the sixth and final newbuild of the Royal Class. Her sister ships are the Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess.

The DISCOVERY PRINCESS will offer in her first summer season seven-day Alaskan cruises from Seattle.

Am 28. Januar 2022 haben Princess Cruises ihre DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) von der Bauwerft Fincantieri in Monfalcone übernommen. Die DISCOVERY PRINCESS ist das sechste und letzte Schiff der Royal-Klasse. Sie ist mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 145.281 vermessen und hat Platz für 3.660 Passagiere.

Der neue Cruise Liner wird in Kürze Kurs Richtung US-Westküste nehmen, um von Los Angeles aus Kreuzfahrten an die mexikanische Riviera zu unternehmen. Im Sommer dieses Jahres soll die DISCOVERY PRINCESS dann für siebentägige Kreuzfahrten ab Seattle nach Alaska eingesetzt werden.

On January 28, 2022, Princess Cruises took delivery of their DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) from the shipyard Fincantieri in Monfalcone. The DISCOVERY PRINCESS is the sixth and final Royal Class cruise ship. She has a gross tonnage of 145,281 and can accommodate 3,660 passengers.

The new cruise liner will soon set course for the US West Coast to cruise from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera. In the summer of this year, the DISCOVERY PRINCESS will then be used for seven-day cruises from Seattle to Alaska.

Sechstes Schiff der Royal-Klasse vor der Fertigstellung

Dieser Tage ist die DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) von ihrer fünftägigen Probefahrt zur Bauwerft Fincantieri im italienischen Monfalcone zurückgekehrt. Vor der Ablieferung des Kreuzfahrtschiffs  an Princess Cruises sind noch einige Rest-Arbeiten an Bord vorzunehmen.

Das für 3.660 Passagiere ausgelegte Schiff ist das sechste und letzte Schiff der Royal-Klasse für Princess Cruises.

Es ist vorgesehen, den Cruise Liner ab Ende März 2022 für Kreuzfahrten an der US-Westküste zur Mexikanischen Riviera und ab Ende April für 7-Tage-Kreuzfahrten ab Seattle nach Alaska einzusetzen.

The DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) has just returned from her five-day sea trials to the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Before the cruise ship will be delivered to Princess Cruises, there is still some remaining work to be done on board.

The ship, designed for 3,660 passengers, is the sixth and last Royal Class ship for Princess Cruises. It is planned to use the Cruise Liner from the end of March 2022 for cruises along the US west coast to the Mexican Riviera and from the end of April for 7-day cruises from Seattle to Alaska.

Sechstes Schiff der Royal-Klasse: Bau kommt voran

Die DISCOVERY PRINCESS, ist bei Fincantieri im italienischen Monfalcone aufgeschwommen. Sie ist das sechste Schiff der Royal-Klasse für Princess Cruises. Damit hat die Innen-Ausbau-Phase begonnen. Das mit 145.000 gross tons vermessene Kreuzfahrtschiff soll 2022 an Princess Cruises ausgeliefert werden.

Die DISCOVERY PRINCESS wird ein Schwesterschiff der ROYAL PRINCESS, REGAL PRINCESS,  MAJESTIC PRINCESS, SKY PRINCESS und ENCHANTED PRINCESS.

Nach der DISCOVERY PRINCESS werden Princess Cruises zwei weitere Kreuzfahrtschiffe bei Fincantieri bauen lassen, die mit einer Vermessung von jeweils 175.000 gross tons und einer Passagier-Kapazität von ca. 4300 noch einmal deutlich größer werden und dann auch einen Dual Fuel-Antrieb bekommen sollen, um dann hauptsächlich mit LNG betrieben zu werden.

The DISCOVERY PRINCESS has been floated out at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy. She is the sixth Royal Class ship for Princess Cruises. The interior fitting phase has now begun. The cruise ship, measured at 145,000 gross tons, is to be delivered to Princess Cruises in 2022.

The DISCOVERY PRINCESS will be a sister ship of the ROYAL PRINCESS, REGAL PRINCESS, MAJESTIC PRINCESS, SKY PRINCESS and ENCHANTED PRINCESS.

After the DISCOVERY PRINCESS, Princess Cruises will have two more cruise ships built by Fincantieri, each of which will be significantly larger with a measurement of 175,000 gross tons and a passenger capacity of around 4,300 and will then also be equipped with dual fuel propulsion to be operated mainly with LNG.

5. Schiff der Royal-Klasse abgeliefert

Mit der ENCHANTED PRINCESS hat die Fincantieri-Werft in Monfalcone das fünfte Schiff der Royal-Klasse an die zum Carnival-Konzern gehörenden Princess Cruises übergeben.

Abgeliefert inmitten der Corona-Pandemie, betonen Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft und Werft, dass die ENCHANTED PRINCESS als erstes Schiff bei Princess Cruises mit einem Advanced Air Quality System ausgestattet ist.

Die ENCHANTED PRINCESS  (IMO 9807126) ist bereits das 18. Kreuzfahrtschiff, das Fincantieri für Princess Cruises gebaut hat. Sie ist mit 145.000 gross tons vermessen und bietet Platz für 4.610 Passagiere in 1.830 Kabinen. Als fünftes Schiff der Royal Class folgt sie der ROYAL PRINCESS, REGAL PRINCESS, MAJESTIC PRINCESS und SKY PRINCESS.

Das sechste Schiff dieser Klasse wird die DISCOVERY PRINCESS. Auslieferung ist für 2021 geplant.

5th Royal class ship delivered

With the ENCHANTED PRINCESS, the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone has handed over the fifth royal class ship to Princess Cruises, which belongs to the Carnival group.

Delivered in the midst of the corona pandemic, the cruise line and shipyard emphasize that the ENCHANTED PRINCESS is the first Princess Cruises ship to be equipped with an Advanced Air Quality System.

The ENCHANTED PRINCESS (IMO 9807126) is already the 18th cruise ship that Fincantieri has built for Princess Cruises. It is measured at 145,000 tons and offers space for 4,610 passengers in 1,830 cabins. As the fifth ship in the Royal Class, she follows the ROYAL PRINCESS, REGAL PRINCESS, MAJESTIC PRINCESS and SKY PRINCESS.

The sixth ship in this class will be the DISCOVERY PRINCESS. Delivery is planned for 2021.
