On March 4, the DISNEY ADVENTURE, built in Wismar, Germany, was christened in a festive ceremony in Singapore. The christening was the highlight of the ship’s delivery and presentation cruise from Germany via the USA to Singapore.
The christening ceremony took place in the Walt Disney Theater onboard. US actor Robert Downey Jr. served as godfather for Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship. The DISNEY ADVENTURE is the eighth ship in the fleet.
On March 10, the cruise liner will embark on its maiden voyage. During its inaugural season, the DISNEY ADVENTURE will offer 3- and 4-night cruises departing from Singapore.
Highlights onboard include seven themed areas, a Broadway-style musical, and Disney Cruise Line’s first roller coaster at sea, the Ironcycle Test Run.

Die Tauf-Feier fand im Walt-Disney-Theater an Bord statt. Taufpate für Disney Cruise Lines neuestes Schiff war US-Schauspieler Robert Downey Jr. Die DISNEY ADVENTURE ist das achte Schiff der Flotte.
Am 10. März wird der Cruise Liner zur Jungfernfahrt aufbrechen. In ihrer Auftakt-Saison wird die DISNEY ADVENTURE für 3- und 4-Nächte-Kreuzfahrten ab Singapur eingesetzt.
Zu den Highlights an Bord zählen sieben Themen-Bereiche, ein Musical im Broadway-Stil und Disney Cruise Line’s erste Achterbahn auf See, der Ironcycle Test Run.
Größtes je in Deutschland gebautes Kreuzfahrtschiff – bereits jetzt ein Schiff mit Geschichte
Mit einer Länge von 342 Metern und einer Bruttoraumzahl von 208.000 ist die DISNEY ADVENTURE das größte je in Deutschland gebaute Passagierschiff. Sie ist auch das größte Schiff der Flotte der Disney Cruise Line.
Am 4. Januar 2026 hat das Kreuzfahrtschiff in Bremerhaven abgelegt und Kurs auf die US-Ostküste genommen.
Bereits mit Fertigstellung hat das Schiff eine spannende Geschichte hinter sich. Der Bau des Kreuzfahrtschiffs begann am 8. März 2018 mit dem ersten Stahlschnitten auf den MV-Werften in Warnemünde und Wismar. Auftraggeber war Genting Hong Kong. Das Schiff sollte den Namen GLOBAL DREAM erhalten und ursprünglich im Jahr 2020 für Dream Cruises, eine Marke von Genting Hong Kong, in Dienst gestellt werden. Eineinhalb Jahre später wurde sogar mit dem Bau eines Schwesterschiffs begonnen.
Während der Corona-Pandemie gingen sowohl die MV-Werften als auch Genting Hong Kong in die Insolvenz. Die zu etwas Dreivierteln fertiggestellte GLOBAL DREAM wurde nach intensiven Bemühungen durch den Insolvenzverwalter der MV-Werften schließlich an Disney Cruise Line verkauft, die das Schiff durch die speziell dafür gegründete Meyer Wismar zu Ende bauen ließ. Dabei wurden umfangreiche Modifikationen u.a. beim Antrieb und bei der Passagierkapazität vorgenommen.
Die Endphase des Baus fand in der zweiten Jahreshälfte 2025 in Bremerhaven statt, wo der in DISNEY ADVENTURE umbenannte Kreuzfahrt-Gigant am 16. Dezember 2025 offiziell an Disney Cruise Line übergeben wurde. Im Laufe des Jahres 2026 wird der Cruise Liner nach Singapur verlegt, von wo aus Kurz-Kreuzfahrten angeboten werden.
Der ursprüngliche Auftraggeber hat mit Resort World Cruises inzwischen eine neue Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft gegründet, die 2025 in Star Dream Cruises umbenannt wurde und in die zwei Kreuzfahrtschiffe der damaligen Flotte übernommen werden konnten. Das Flaggschiff dieser Gesellschaft heißt noch immer GENTING DREAM, während dessen Schwesterschiff, die AROYA, nach Umbau ebenfalls in Bremerhaven seit 2025 für Aroya Cruises über die Meere schippert.
Largest cruise ship ever built in Germany – already a ship with a history
With a length of 342 meters and a gross tonnage of 208,000, the DISNEY ADVENTURE is the largest passenger ship ever built in Germany. She is also the largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
On January 4, 2026, the cruise ship set sail from Bremerhaven and ist now heading for the US East Coast.
Even upon completion, the ship has a fascinating history. Construction of the cruise ship began on March 8, 2018, with the first steel cutting at the MV shipyards in Warnemünde and Wismar, Germany. The client was Genting Hong Kong. The ship was to be named GLOBAL DREAM and was originally scheduled to enter service in 2020 for Dream Cruises, a Genting Hong Kong brand. A year and a half later, construction even began on a sister ship.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, both MV Werften and Genting Hong Kong went bankrupt. The GLOBAL DREAM, which was about three-quarters complete, was eventually sold to Disney Cruise Line after intensive efforts by the insolvency administrator. Disney then commissioned Meyer Wismar, a shipbuilding company specifically founded for this purpose, to complete the construction. Extensive modifications were made, including to the propulsion system and passenger capacity.
The final phase of construction took place in Bremerhaven in the second half of 2025, where the cruise giant, renamed DISNEY ADVENTURE, was officially handed over to Disney Cruise Line on December 16, 2025. During 2026 the cruise liner will be repositioned to Singapore, from where it will offer short cruises.
The original client has since founded a new cruise company, Resort World Cruises, which was renamed Star Dream Cruises in 2025 and into which two cruise ships from the former fleet were transferred. The flagship of this company is still called GENTING DREAM, while her sister ship, the AROYA, has been sailing the seas for Aroya Cruises since 2025 after a refit also in Bremerhaven.
Am 10. November 2025 wurde Disney Cruises Lines‘ neuestes Kreuzfahrtschiff der Wish-Klasse, die DISNEY DESTINY, feierlich in Fort Lauderdale getauft.
Taufpatin war die US-amerikanische Schauspielerin, Sängerin und Tänzerin Susan Egan. Sie hatte große Bekanntheit erlangt durch ihre Rolle als Belle im Broadway-Musical Beauty and the Beast. Darüber hinaus hatte sie beispielsweise der Figur Megara im Zeichentrickfilm Herkules ihre Stimme verliehen.
Die Tauf-Party der DISNEY DESTINY, die auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg gebaut worden war, war geprägt von einer glanzvollen Show: einer Kombination aus Video-Projektionen und Drohnen-Show. Dabei spielte eine Band Musik aus den Disney-Produktionen Herkules, König der Löwen, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean und Black Panther. Passend dazu wurde im Hintergrund die DISNEY DESTINY mit Video-Projektionen illuminiert, ergänzt durch eine Drohnen-Show im nächtlichen Himmel über dem Schiff.

On November 10, 2025, Disney Cruise Line’s newest Wish-class cruise ship DISNEY DESTINY was christened in a festive ceremony in Fort Lauderdale.
The ship’s godmother was American actress, singer, and dancer Susan Egan, best known for her role as Belle in the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast. She also lent her voice to characters such as Megara in the animated film Hercules.
The christening celebration for the Disney Destiny, built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, featured a dazzling show: a combination of video projections and a drone display. A band performed music from Disney productions including Hercules, The Lion King, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Black Panther. The Disney Destiny was illuminated with video projections in the background, complemented by a drone show in the night sky above the ship.

The DISNEY FANTASY has been in drydock at Damen in Brest, Brittany, since September 30th. Routine work, maintenance, and technical inspections are being carried out.
DISNEY FANTASY (IMO 9445590) was built in 2011/2012 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg for Disney Cruise Line. She is 339.80 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 129,750 tons. She can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers in 1,250 cabins.
Seit 30. September liegt die DISNEY FANTASY im Trockendock bei Damen im bretonischen Brest. Es werden Routine-Arbeiten, Instandhaltungsmaßnahmen sowie technische Inspektionen durchgeführt.
DISNEY FANTASY (IMO 9445590) wurde 2011 / 2012 auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg für Disney Cruise Line gebaut. Sie ist 339,80 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 129.750 vermessen. In 1.250 Kabinen können bis zu 4.000 Passagiere untergebracht werden.
On April 19, the new cruise ship for Disney Cruise Line, the DISNEY ADVENTURE, left the shipyard’s construction hall in Wismar in Northern Germany. However, the cruise liner is not yet complete. The unfinished ship is currently moored at the outfitting pier, where work is continuing amidst a flurry of activity. The 342-meter-long and more than 70-meter-high DISNEY ADVENTURE is scheduled to be completed there in the coming months.
The cruise ship’s maiden voyage is scheduled for December from Singapore. The DISNEY ADVENTURE is designed to accommodate up to 6,000 passengers and 2,300 crew members.
Ein beeindruckendes Schauspiel gab es am 19. April in Wismar zu bestaunen, als das riesige Kreuzfahrtschiff DISNEY ADVENTURE das Baudock der Meyer Werft verließ. Zahlreiche Schaulustige und Medienvertreter waren vor Ort, um dieses besondere Ereignis mitzuerleben, auch wenn der Alte Hafen aus Sicherheitsgründen gesperrt war.
Das Ausdocken des 342 Meter langen und über 70 Meter hohen Ozeanriesen begann am Vormittag und dauerte knapp eine Stunde. Mehrere Schlepper zogen den Koloss Zentimeter für Zentimeter aus der riesigen Werfthalle.
Die DISNEY ADVENTURE (IMO 9808986), die ursprünglich als GLOBAL DREAM für die asiatische Genting Group gebaut wurde, wechselte nach der Insolvenz der MV-Werften den Besitzer und wird nun für Disney Cruise Line fertiggestellt. Nach sechseinhalbjähriger Bauzeit konnte die Öffentlichkeit heute erstmals den Rumpf des Schiffes mit den charakteristischen Disney-Verzierungen bewundern.
Nach dem Ausdocken wurde die DISNEY ADVENTURE am Ausrüstungskai festgemacht. Dort sollen in den kommenden Monaten die Schornsteine und sogar eine Achterbahn installiert werden – Elemente, für die in der Werfthalle kein Platz war.
Die Jungfernfahrt des Kreuzfahrtschiffes ist für Dezember ab Singapur geplant. An Bord finden bis zu 6.000 Passagiere und 2.300 Besatzungsmitglieder Platz. Bis dahin wird die DISNEY ADVENTURE noch einige Zeit das Stadtbild von Wismar prägen. Bis zum Sommer wird die DISNEY ADVENTURE noch im Hafen von Wismar liegen, bevor sie Kurs auf Singapur nimmt. Schiff-Fans haben also noch einige Monate Zeit, den imposanten Kreuzfahrtriesen in Augenschein zu nehmen.
DISNEY ADVENTURE was floated out at Wismar, Germany on April 19, 2025. Numerous spectators and media representatives were present to witness this special event, even though the Old Harbor was closed for safety reasons. The floating out of the 342-meter-long and over 70-meter-high ocean giant began in the morning and lasted just under an hour. Several tugboats pulled the ship inch by inch out of the enormous shipyard hall.
The DISNEY ADVENTURE (IMO 9808986) , originally built as GLOBAL DREAM for the Asian Genting Group, had changed hands after the insolvency of the MV Werft shipyards and is now being completed for Disney Cruise Line. After six and a half years of construction, the public was able to admire the ship’s hull with its signature Disney decorations for the first time today. After floating out the DISNEY ADVENTURE was moored at the yard quay. The funnels and even a roller coaster will be installed there in the coming months – features for which there was no room in the shipyard hall. The cruise ship’s maiden voyage is scheduled for December from Singapore. It will accommodate up to 6,000 passengers and 2,300 crew members.
For now, the DISNEY ADVENTURE will continue to dominate the Wismar cityscape for some time. The DISNEY ADVENTURE will remain in the port of Wismar until the summer before setting sail for Singapore. Ship enthusiasts therefore still have a few months to admire the impressive cruise giant.
Bereits im Jahr 2022 gelang Disney Cruise Line mit der Nominierung der Taufpaten für die DISNEY WISH eine kleine Überraschung. Taufpaten der DISNEY WISH waren alle „Make a Wish“-Kinder der Welt. Vor diesem Hintergrund durfte man auf die Nominierung der Taufpaten für die DISNEY TREASURE gespannt sein. Taufpaten werden: Besatzung, Crew und alle Mitarbeiter der Walt Disney Company. Nun werden nicht alle zur Tauf-Feier am 19. November in New York kommen können. Stattdessen werden einige ausgewählte Mitarbeiter/innen stellvertretend für die gesamte Disney-Belegschaft die Rolle der Taufpaten übernehmen.
Die DISNEY TREASURE (IMO 9834753) war auf der Meyer-Werft, Papenburg, gebaut und am 24. Oktober 2024 an Disney Cruise Line abgeliefert worden.

These will be the godparents of the DISNEY TREASURE
Christening on November 19th in New York City
In 2022, Disney Cruise Line managed a small surprise by nominating the godparents for the DISNEY WISH. The godparents of the DISNEY WISH were all the „Make a Wish“ children in the world. Against this background, the nomination of the godparents for the DISNEY TREASURE was something to look forward to. The godparents will be: crew, cast and all employees of the Walt Disney Company. Now not everyone will be able to come to the christening ceremony on November 19th in New York. Instead, a few selected employees will take on the role of godparents on behalf of the entire Disney workforce.
DISNEY TREASURE (IMO 9834753) was constructed by Meyer Papenburg, Germany, and delivered to Disney Cruise Line on October 24, 2024.

Am 24. Oktober wurde im niederländischen Eemshaven die DISNEY TREASURE (IMO 9834753) an Disney Cruise Line übergeben. Das zweite Schiff der Wish-Klasse ist mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 144.000 vermessen und hat eine Länge von 341 Metern. Sie war in den vergangenen Monaten auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg gebaut um am 18. September über die Ems zur Nordsee überführt worden.
Nach der Transatlantik-Überführung soll die DISNEY TREASURE am 21. Dezember in Port Canaveral zu ihrer Jungfernfahrt auslaufen. Die 7-Nächte Kreuzfahrt führt in die östliche Karibik mit Anläufen in Tortola, St. Thomas und auf Castaway Cay.

On October 24, the DISNEY TREASURE (IMO 9834753) was handed over to Disney Cruise Line in Eemshaven, the Netherlands. The second Wish class ship has a gross tonnage of 144,000 and is 341 meters long. She was built in the past months by the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and transferred to the North Sea via the River Ems on September 18.
After the transatlantic transfer, the DISNEY TREASURE is scheduled to set sail on her maiden voyage from Port Canaveral on December 21. The 7-night cruise will go to the eastern Caribbean with calls in Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay.
Am 20.03.2024 wurde auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg die Kiellegung der DISNEY DESTINY gefeiert. Sie wird das dritte Schiff der Triton-Klasse für Disney Cruise Line – nach der DISNEY WISH und der in Bau befindlichen DISNEY TREASURE.
Wie Disney Cruise Line anlässlich der Kiellegung bekannt gab, wird das Design-Thema des DISNEY DESTINY „Helden und Schurken“ sein, inspiriert von Disney-Geschichten, Charakteren und Freizeitpark-Attraktionen. An Bord werden die Gäste Helden und Bösewichten gleichermaßen begegnen, darunter auch solche aus den Geschichten der Walt Disney Animation Studios wie „Der König der Löwen“, „Herkules“ und „101 Dalmatiner“.
Disney Cruise Line zeigt außerdem das neue filigrane Kunstwerk für den Bug der DISNEY DESTINY mit Minnie Mouse als zentrale Figur.
Die Ablieferung des DISNEY DESTINY ist für 2025 geplant.

On March 20, 2024, the keel laying of DISNEY DESTINY was celebrated on the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. She will be the third Triton class ship for Disney Cruise Line – after the DISNEY WISH and the DISNEY TREASURE, which is currently under construction.
As Disney Cruise Line announced during the keel laying ceremony, the design theme of DISNEY DESTINY will be “Heroes and Villains,” inspired by Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions. On board, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike, including those from Walt Disney Animation Studios stories such as “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “101 Dalmatians.”
Disney Cruise Line also revealed the new artwork for the bow of the DISNEY DESTINY with Minnie Mouse as the central figure.
Delivery of the DISNEY DESTINY is scheduled for 2025.

Nach der Insolvenz von Genting Hong Kong und daraus resultierend der MV-Werften hatten Disney Cruise Lines das unfertige Schiff Ende 2022 gekauft, um es durch die Meyer-Werft fertigstellen zu lassen. Dabei sollen auch diverse Modifizierungen am Bau vorgenommen werden.
Seit Übernahme des unfertigen Schiffs durch Disney Cruise Lines wurde noch nicht weitergebaut. Disney Cruise Lines gehen aber nach wie vor von einer Fertigstellung bis 2025 aus. Das Schiff soll dann in Singapur stationiert werden und sich damit auch an asiatisches Publikum richten.
GLOBAL DREAM to be renamed DISNEY ADVENTURE
The GLOBAL DREAM (IMO 9808986), which was once commissioned by Genting and is under construction in Wismar, Germany, will be renamed DISNEY ADVENTURE.
After the bankruptcy of Genting Hong Kong and the MV shipyards as a result thereof, Disney Cruise Lines bought the unfinished ship at the end of 2022 in order to have it completed by the Meyer shipyard. Various modifications will also be made to the newbuild.
There has been no further construction activity since Disney Cruise Lines took over the unfinished ship. However, Disney Cruise Lines still expect completion by 2025. The ship will then be based in Singapore and will therefore also be aimed at an Asian audience.
