Vor 20 Jahren: Stapellauf der EUROPEAN VISION / MSC ARMONIA

European Vision

Am 1. Dezember 2000, also vor genau 20 Jahren, lief die EUROPEAN VISION (IMO 9210141) bei den Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire vom Stapel. Sie wurde für Festival Cruises gebaut und nach dem Konkurs dieser Gesellschsft von MSC Cruises übernommen und in MSC ARMONIA umbenannt. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff war das erste der Lirica-Klasse. Auch das Schwesterschiff, die EUROPEAN STARS, wurde von MSC Cruises übernommen. Aus ihr wurde die MSC SINFONIA (IMO 9210141).

Mit der MSC LIRICA und MSC OPERA  ließen MSC Cruises selbst noch zwei weitere Schiffe dieser Klasse bei den Chantiers de´l’Atlantique bauen. Dies waren die ersten Neubauten für MSC Cruises.

Die MSC ARMONIA ist das derzeit älteste Schiff der Flotte der MSC Cruises. Sie wurde 2014 bei Fincantieri in Palermo von 251 auf 275 Meter verlängert. Bei einer Bruttoraumzahl von 65.542 (zuvor 56.625) bietet sie Platz für 2.579 Passagiere in 976 Kabinen.

20 years ago: The EUROPEAN VISION / MSC ARMONIA was launched

On December 1, 2000, exactly 20 years ago, the EUROPEAN VISION (IMO 9210141) was launched at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France. She was built for Festival Cruises and after the bankruptcy of this company was taken over by MSC Cruises and renamed MSC ARMONIA. The cruise ship was the first in the Lirica class. The sister ship, the EUROPEAN STARS, was also taken over by MSC Cruises. She became the MSC SINFONIA (IMO 9210141).

With the MSC LIRICA and MSC OPERA, MSC Cruises had two more ships of this class built by the Chantiers de’l’Atlantique. These were the first newbuildings for MSC Cruises.

The MSC ARMONIA is currently the oldest ship in the MSC Cruises fleet. She was stretched in 2014 at Fincantieri in Palermo from 251 to 275 meters. With a gross tonnage of 65,542 (previously 56,625), she offers space for 2,579 passengers in 976 cabins.
