Nachdem Carnival Cruise Line und die Meyer Werft, Papenburg, im Februar dieses Jahres den Bau eines weiteren Kreuzfahrtschiffs der Excel-Klasse für Ablieferung 2027 vereinbart hatten, wurde nun bekannt gegeben, dass darüber hinaus ein weiteres Schiff für Ablieferung 2028 gebaut werden soll. Carnival Cruise Line wird damit ab 2028 fünf Schiffe der Excel-Klasse betreiben. Die Neubauten werden Schwesterschiffe der Ende 2023 abgelieferten CARNIVAL JUBILEE werden. Sie sollen jeweils etwa 344 Meter lang werden, mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 180.000 vermessen sein und bis zu 6.400 Passagieren Platz bieten. Sie werden das zehnte und elfte Schiff dieser Klasse für die Carnival-Gruppe.
Feierliches Event zum 100. Geburtstag von Carnival-Gründer Ted Arison
Am 24. Februar 2024 wurde die CARNIVAL JUBILEE, jüngstes Schiff der Excellence-Klasse, in Galveston, Texas, getauft. Es war gleichzeitig der 100. Geburtstag von Ted Arison, Gründer von Carnival Cruise Line.
Taufpatin der CARNIVAL JUBILEE war die US-amerikanische Sängerin, Designerin und Schauspielerin Gwen Stefani. Sie taufte das Schiff während einer 45-minütigen Zeremonie, die im Theater des Schiffs stattfand. Es folgte ein Cocktail-Empfang sowie ein feierliches Mittagessen, bevor Gwen Stefani einige ihrer Hits präsentierte, wie zum Beispiel „Just A Girl“ und „Hollaback Girl“.

Celebratory event for Carnival founder Ted Arison’s 100th birthday
On February 24, 2024, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE, the youngest Excellence Class ship, was christened in Galveston, Texas. It was also the 100th birthday of Ted Arison, founder of Carnival Cruise Line.
CARNIVAL JUBILEE’s godmother was the American singer, designer and actress Gwen Stefani. She christened the ship during a 45-minute ceremony held in the ship’s theater. A cocktail reception and celebratory lunch followed before Gwen Stefani performed some of her hits, including “Just A Girl” and “Hollaback Girl.”
Fourth Excel Class Cruise Ship for delivery in 2027
Carnival Cruise Line and Meyer Werft, Papenburg, Germany, have agreed to build another Excel class cruise ship. The new ship will be a sister ship to the CARNIVAL JUBILEE, which was delivered at the end of 2023. The newbuild will be around 344 meters long, have a gross tonnage of 180,000 and a passenger capacity of 6,400. Das 344 Meter lange, mit LNG betriebene Kreuzfahrtschiff ist das zweite Schiff der Excellence-Klasse für Carnival Cruise Line und bereits das siebte Schiff dieser Klasse für die Carnival-Gruppe. Außergewöhnliches Highlight der CARNIVAL CELEBRATION, Schwesterschiff der MARDI GRAS, ist eine Achterbahn an Bord.
Der Cruise Liner nimmt nun Kurs auf Southampton, wo eine 14-tägige Transatlantik-Kreuzfahrt nach Florida beginnt. Am 20. November wird die CARNIVAL CELEBRATION in Miami erwartet. Am selben Tag soll das Schiff dort von US-Schauspielerin Cassidy Gifford getauft werden.
Die Carnival-Gruppe wird noch zwei weitere Neubauten der Excel-Klasse übernehmen: die ARVIA (IMO 9849693), die bereits in wenigen Wochen an P&O Cruises abgeliefert werden wird, sowie die CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737), das dritter Schiff dieser Klasse für Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Cruise Line takes delivery of newest ship in Finland
Carnival Cruise Line has taken over the CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456) from the shipyard Meyer Turku in Finland, just in time for their 50th anniversary. On November 2, Carnival President Christine Duffy and Carnival Senior Vice President New Builds Ben Clement and Tim Meyer, CEO Meyer Turku, ceremonially signed the handover documents.
The 344 meter LNG powered cruise ship is the second Excellence class ship for Carnival Cruise Line and the seventh ship in this class for the Carnival group. An extraordinary highlight of the CARNIVAL CELEBRATION, sister ship of the MARDI GRAS, is a roller coaster on board.
The cruise liner now sets course for Southampton, where a 14-day transatlantic cruise to Florida begins. The CARNIVAL CELEBRATION is expected to arrive in Miami on November 20th. On the same day, the ship will be christened there by US actress Cassidy Gifford.
The Carnival Group will take delivery of two more newbuilds in the Excel class: the ARVIA (IMO 9849693), which will be delivered to P&O Cruises in just a few weeks, and the CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737), the third ship in this class for Carnival Cruise line. Delivery is scheduled for 2023. The ship is currently being built at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Der Name CARNIVAL CELEBRATION war ganz bewusst gewählt worden, fällt doch die Indienststellung genau in das Jahr der 50-Jahr-Feiern von Carnival Cruise Line.
CARNIVAL CELEBRATION returned from Sea Trials
The CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456) has returned to the shipyard Meyer Turku from her first sea trials in the Baltic Sea. She is already the seventh Excel class ship (Helios class) and, after the MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444), the second ship in this series for Carnival Cruise Line.
The cruise ship, measured at around 180,000 gross tons and powered by LNG, is scheduled to go into service before the end of this year. The first trip is planned for mid-November, after which seven-day trips from Miami to the western and eastern Caribbean will continue from November 21.
The name CARNIVAL CELEBRATION was deliberately chosen, since the commissioning coincides with the 50th anniversary of Carnival Cruise Line.

AIDAcosma – Maiden call in Hamburg
Today, Friday, February 25, 2022, the AIDAcosma, the youngest member of the AIDA fleet, is expected to make her maiden call in Hamburg.
The AIDAcosma (IMO 9781877) was handed over to AIDA in December 2021 by the Meyer shipyard, Papenburg. As the sixth Helios class ship (also Excellence class or Excel class), like her sister ship AIDAnova, she has an innovative LNG propulsion system. The cruise giant is scheduled to embark on its first-ever fare-paying cruise on February 26. The opening season with Hamburg as base port will culminate with the christening in the Hanseatic city on April 9th. Godmother will be Kristina Vogel, a former cyclist and two-time Olympic champion
Wie berichtet ist am 11. Februar 2022 bei Meyer Turku in Finnland das nächste LNG-betriebene Kreuzfahrtschiff für Carnival Cruise Line aufgeschwommen: die CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456). Der Name des Schiffs wurde bewusst gewählt, da Carnival Cruise Line in diesem Jahr ihr 50. Jubiläum feiert.

As reported, the next LNG-powered cruise ship for Carnival Cruise Line floated out at Meyer Turku in Finland on February 11, 2022: the CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456). The name of the ship was chosen because Carnival Cruise Line is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The floating out on the shipyard in Turku was duly celebrated with a cannon blast from a historic cannon.
After the MARDI GRAS, the CARNIVAL CELEBRATION is the second Excel class ship (also Excellence class or Helios class) for Carnival Cruise Line. The cruise line is also to receive a third ship of this class.
The Excellence class cruise ships already delivered by the Meyer yards are: AIDAnova, COSTA SMERALDA, IONA, MARDI GRAS, COSTA TOSCANA and AIDAcosma.

On December 21, 2021, AIDA Cruises took delivery of their second Helios class ship (also Excel class), the AIDAcosma (IMO 9781877). The cruise ship, measured 183,858 gross tons, is 337 meters long and has a passenger capacity of approx. 6,600 passengers in 2,732 cabins.
The AIDAcosma is already the sixth ship of this class that the Carnival Group has taken over from the Meyer shipyards in Papenburg and Turku. Three more ships in this series, which are characterized by an innovative LNG drive, are to follow by 2023.
AIDAcosma is to be put into service in the first quarter of 2022 and will be deployed for 7-day cruises on the metropolitan route from Hamburg. The christening of the cruise ship is to take place on April 9, 2022 in Hamburg. Godmother will be the former cyclist and two-time Olympic champion Kristina Vogel.
Costa Cruises übernehmen zweites Schiff der Helios-Klasse
Mit der COSTA TOSCANA (IMO 9781891) haben Costa Cruises ihr zweites Schiff der Helios-Klasse ( Excel-Klasse von Meyer Turku übernommen.
Das erste Schiff für Costa aus dieser Baureihe war die ebenfalls in Turku gebaute COSTA SMERALDA (IMO 9781889). Die Schiffe der Helios-Klasse werden mit LNG betrieben und gelten deshalb als besonders innovativ.
Die COSTA TOSCANA ist bereits das fünfte Schiff dieser Klasse, das für die Carnival-Gruppe fertiggestellt wurde. Eigentlich hätte die AIDAcosma (IMO 9781877) noch vor der COSTA TOSCANA abgeliefert werden sollen, ihre Fertigstellung hat sich aber etwas verzögert.

The first Helios class ship for Costa was the COSTA SMERALDA (IMO 9781889), also built in Turku. The ships of the Helios class are LNG driven and are therefore considered to be particularly innovative. The COSTA TOSCANA is already the fifth ship of this class that was completed for the Carnival Group. Actually, the AIDAcosma (IMO 9781877) should have been delivered before the COSTA TOSCANA, but her completion is delayed
Auf den Meyer-Werften in Papenburg und Turku entstehen derzeit die innovativen, LNG-betriebenen Kreuzfahrtschiffe der Helios-Klasse (auch Excel-Klasse) für die Carnival-Gruppe, genauer gesagt für AIDA, Costa, P&O sowie Carnival Cruise Line.
Das letzte bestellte Schiff dieser Klasse, das für Auslieferung 2023 geplant ist, soll nun nicht wie ursprünglich geplant an AIDA Cruises abgeliefert werden, sondern in die Flotte der Carnival Cruise Lines integriert werden. Ein Name für das Schiff steht noch nicht fest.

AIDA will not get their third LNG ship
The innovative, LNG-powered Excel class cruise ships for the Carnival Group, more precisely for AIDA, Costa, P&O and Carnival Cruise Line, are currently being built on the Meyer shipyards in Papenburg and Turku.
The last ordered ship in this class, which is scheduled for delivery in 2023, is now not to be delivered to AIDA Cruises as originally planned, but rather to be integrated into the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet. A name for the ship has not yet been determined.
With the AIDAnova (IMO 9781865), AIDA is operating the first ship of this class and this year will get a sister ship with the AIDAcosma (IMO 9781877). Carnival Cruise Lines already took over the MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) at the end of 2020 and will receive their second Helios class ship with the CARNIVAL CELEBRATION in 2022.
Mit dem ersten Stahlschnitt wurde der Bau für die ARVIA (IMO 9849693) auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg begonnen. Die ARVIA ist nach der IONA das zweite Schiff der Helios-Klasse (auch Excel-Klasse) für P&O bzw. das achte Schiff dieser Reihe für den Carnival-Konzern.

Next ship for P&O under construction at Meyer shipyard
Construction for the ARVIA (IMO 9849693) at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg began with the first steel cut. The ARVIA is after the IONA the second ship of the Helios class (also Excel class) for P&O and the eighth ship in this series for the Carnival group. Delivery is scheduled for 2022.
