Princess Cruises haben am 14. Februar die SUN PRINCESS (IMO 9863118) von der Bauwerft Fincantieri in Monfalcone übernommen. Sie ist nicht nur das modernste Schiff der Princess Cruises Flotte, sondern das bisher größte in Italien fertiggestellte Kreuzfahrtschiff, zudem das erste von Fincantieri mit LNG-Antrieb.
Die SUN PRINCESS ist mit 175.500 gross tons vermessen und hat Platz für 4.300 Passagiere.
Zum Bedauern der Reederei musste allerdings die erste Reise am 18. Februar abgesagt werden. Die Jungfernfahrt startet nun am 28. Februar in Civitavecchia, Italien.
SUN PRINCESS Delivered to Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises took delivery of the SUN PRINCESS (IMO 9863118) from the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on February 14th. She is not only the most modern ship in the Princess Cruises fleet, but also the largest cruise ship completed in Italy to date and the first from Fincantieri with LNG propulsion.

To the shipping company’s regret, however, the first voyage on February 18th had to be canceled. The maiden voyage now starts on February 28th from Civitavecchia, Italy.
Auf der Fincantieri-Werft im italienischen Monfalcone ist am 28. November 2023 mit der MEIN SCHIFF RELAX (IMO 9862657) das erste Schiff der InTUItion-Klasse aufgeschwommen, womit ein bedeutender Meilenstein der Bauphase erreicht wurde. Bei der Gelegenheit fand auch eine kleine Schiffstaufe statt. Taufpatin war Elena Sperti, eine Mitarbeiterin von Fincantieri.
Nach alter Tradition der christlichen Seefahrt segnete Pfarrer Roberto Benvenuto das Schiff nach alter christlicher Seefahrts-Tradition mit Gebeten und heiligem Weihwasser. Elena Sperti, die Patin der Werft, zerschlug eine Flasche Prosecco am Rumpf der Mein Schiff Relax, eine italienische Tradition, um dem Schiff, seiner Besatzung und seinen Passagieren Glück zu wünschen. Gemeinsam mit Cristiano Bazzara, Direktor der Fincantieri Werft, drehte Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises, die Ventile des Docks auf, um die MEIN SCHIFF RELAX aufschwimmen zu lassen.
MEIN SCHIFF RELAX Floated Out
First InTUItion class cruise ship
The first ship of the InTUItion class, the MEIN SCHIFF RELAX (IMO 9862657), floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on November 28, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the construction phase. A small ship christening also took place on the occasion. Elena Sperti, an employee of Fincantieri, was selected as godmother.
According to the old Christian seafaring tradition, Pastor Roberto Benvenuto blessed the ship with prayers and holy water. Elena Sperti, the shipyard’s godmother, smashed a bottle of Prosecco on the hull of the Mein Schiff Relax, an Italian tradition to wish the ship, its crew and its passengers luck. Together with Cristiano Bazzara, director of the Fincantieri shipyard, Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, opened the dock’s valves to allow the MEIN SCHIFF RELAX to float.

Das Theater:
Mithilfe einer variablen Fläche im Parkett des neuen, sechseckigen Theaters eröffnen sich vielfältige, multifunktionale Programmmöglichkeiten wie Sport-Sessions, Dinner-Theater, Events oder Club-Abende. Ein Catwalk im Vorbühnenbereich bringt die Künstler und auch die Artistik so nah wie nie zuvor zu den Gästen. Und da die Fläche schnell umgebaut werden kann, sind im Laufe eines Tages sogar mehrere verschiedene Programme möglich.
Die Burlesque-Bar
Ganz neu an Bord ist die exklusive Burlesque-Bühne mit Bar, die die Gäste mit niveauvollen Burlesque-Darbietungen, hochwertigem Pole-Dance und Live-Musik in das unwiderstehliche Flair der Goldenen Zwanziger entführen soll. Dort können auch Workshops und verschiedene kulinarische Tastings stattfinden. Angeschlossen an diese Bar ist auch ein kleines Casino.
Die Bühne:
Showtime in persönlicher Atmosphäre mit noch mehr Auswahl an Kunst und Kultur wird ein Theater bieten, in dem auf kleiner, aber voll ausgestatteter Bühne Schauspiel, Dinner-Varieté, Lesungen, Hörspiele oder Vorträge einen großen Raum erhalten. In der angeschlossenen Bar mit Lounge-Atmosphäre stehen Getränke für die Gäste bereit.
Das in Bau befindliche Kreuzfahrtschiff soll 2024 erstmals in See stechen.

The Theater:
With the help of a variable area of the new, hexagonal theater, a variety of multifunctional program options such as sports sessions, dinner theater, events or club evenings open up. A catwalk in the forestage area brings the artists and the artistry closer to the guests than ever before. And since the area can be converted quickly, several different programs are possible over the course of a day.
The Burlesque Bar
Brand new on board is the exclusive burlesque stage with bar, which will take guests into the irresistible flair of the Roaring Twenties with sophisticated burlesque performances, high-quality pole dancing and live music. Workshops and various culinary tastings can also take place there. There is also a small casino attached to this bar.
The stage:
Showtime in a personal atmosphere with an even greater selection of art and culture will be offered by a theater in which plays, dinner variety shows, readings, radio plays or lectures will be given a large space on a small but fully equipped stage. Drinks are available for guests in the attached bar with a lounge atmosphere.

Die Fincantieri-Werft im italienischen Monfalcone hat am 20. Juli 2023 die EXPLORA I an Explora Journey, die Luxus-Kreuzfahrt-Marke von MSC Cruises, abgeliefert.
Die Teilnehmer
An der traditionellen maritimen Veranstaltung der Übergabe nahmen Gianluigi Aponte, Gründer und Vorsitzender der MSC Group; Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman der Kreuzfahrtabteilung der MSC Group, Patin des Schiffes Zoe Africa Vago, für Fincantieri Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer, sowie Vertreter des MSC-Konstruktions-Teams zusammen mit Managern und Arbeitern der Werft.
Jungfernfahrt
Die mit 63.900 gross tons vermessene EXPLORA I wird am 1. August 2023 von Kopenhagen (Dänemark) aus zu ihrer Jungfernfahrt aufbrechen. Diese siebentägige Kreuzfahrt führt die Gäste durch die majestätischen Landschaften von Lerwick (Shetlandinseln) und Kirkwall (Orkney), bevor das Schiff nach Reykjavik (Island) weiterfährt.
Die Routen
Das Luxusschiff wird mehrere Wochen in Nordeuropa verbringen und dabei eine Reihe verschiedener Reiserouten sowohl auf als auch abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade anbieten. Anschließend wird es über Grönland den Atlantik überqueren, um den Herbst in Nordamerika, den Winter in der Karibik und den Frühling an der Westküste der USA und auf Hawaii zu verbringen, bevor es im Sommer 2024 für eine Reihe von Reisen im Mittelmeer nach Europa zurückkehrt. Während aller Fahrten wird das Schiff weniger frequentierte Häfen anlaufen, damit die Gäste ein authentischeres Erlebnis genießen können.
Bestellte Schwesterschiffe
Mit der EXPLORA II ist auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Sestri Ponente bei Genua bereits ein weiteres Schiff für Explora Journeys in Bau, welche im August 2024 in Dienst gestellt werden soll. Ihr folgen die EXPLORA III und EXPLORA IV in den Jahren 2026 und 2027. Diese beiden werden einen modernen LNG-Antrieb bekommen.

First ship for MSC luxury cruise brand Explora Journeys
The Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, delivered the EXPLORA I to Explora Journey, the luxury cruise brand of MSC Cruises, on July 20, 2023.
Participants
The traditional maritime event of the handover was attended by Gianluigi Aponte, Founder and Chairman of the MSC Group; Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of the Cruises Department of the MSC Group, Godmother of the ship Zoe Africa Vago, for Fincantieri Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer, and representatives of the MSC construction team together with shipyard managers and workers.
Maiden Voyage
The EXPLORA I, measured at 63,900 gross tons, will cast off for her maiden voyage on August 1, 2023 from Copenhagen (Denmark). This seven day cruise takes guests through the majestic landscapes of Lerwick (Shetland Islands) and Kirkwall (Orkney) before continuing to Reykjavik (Iceland).
The Routes
The luxury ship will spend several weeks in Northern Europe, offering a range of different itineraries both on and off the beaten track. It will then cross the Atlantic via Greenland to spend the fall in North America, winter in the Caribbean and spring on the US West Coast and Hawaii before returning to Europe in the summer of 2024 for a series of Mediterranean voyages. During all voyages, the ship will call at less frequented ports so guests can enjoy a more authentic experience.
Sister Ships under construction / on order
With the EXPLORA II, another ship for Explora Journeys is already under construction on the Fincantieri shipyard in Sestri Ponente near Genoa, which is scheduled to go into service in August 2024. She will be followed by the EXPLORA III and EXPLORA IV in 2026 and 2027. These two will have modern LNG propulsion.
Bei TUI Cruises blickt man bereits mit Vorfreude auf das achte Schiff der Flotte, welches man unter das Motto „Wohlfühlen neu erleben“ stellt.
Durch weitläufige, zusammenhängende Außendecks möchte man den Gästen auf dem Schiff mehr Freiraum bieten. Auffällig ist das neu gestaltete Dach, welches sich über Teile des 25-Meter-Pools und des Sonnendecks erstreckt. Das architektonisch herausstechende Dach wird die Struktur eines Flechtwerks bekommen und einer Grotte nachempfunden sein. Auf diese Weise soll es für luftige Schattenbereiche sorgen. Am Heck des Schiffs wird sich eine terrassenförmige Sonnenlandschaft befinden, die zu einem Infinity Pool hinaufführt.
Man möchte den Gästen mehr Platz zum Wohlfühlen und Entspannen bieten und wünscht sich, dass jeder seine Lieblingsplatz an Bord findet.
Das achte Schiff der TUI Cruises-Flotte entsteht derzeit bei Fincantieri im italienischen Monfalcone und wird das erste in der Flotte, welches mit LNG betrieben wird.

TUI Cruises is already looking forward with anticipation to their eighth ship in the fleet, which has the motto „A new experience of well-being“.
With extensive, connected outer decks, the aim is to offer guests more freedom on the ship. The newly designed roof, which extends over parts of the 25-meter pool and the sun deck, is striking. This architecturally striking roof will have a wickerwork structure and be modeled on a grotto. In this way, it should provide airy shaded areas. At the stern of the ship will be a terraced sunscape leading up to an infinity pool.
TUI Cruises aim to offer guests more space to feel good and relax and they wish everyone to find their favorite spot on board.
The eighth ship in the TUI Cruises fleet is currently being built at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, and will be the first in the fleet to be operated with LNG.

The series of Sphere-class cruise ships for Princess Cruises will be continued. The SUN PRINCESS, currently under construction by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, is the largest ship ever built in Italy with 175,500 gross tons and a passenger capacity of 4,300. The STAR PRINCESS will be the second cruise ship in this series. Both ships will be powered by LNG.
While the SUN PRINCESS is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2024, the STAR PRINCESS will be delivered in summer of 2025. Her first voyage is scheduled to begin on August 4, 2025 in Civitavecchia and head to the Aegean Sea. Further 9- and 10-night cruises from Civitavecchia, Athens and Trieste to follow.

The EXPLORA I, the first of up to six ships planned for Explora Journeys, has successfully completed her sea trials. After returning to the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, the remaining work is now being carried out on board and the ship is being prepared for the maiden voyage in July 2023.
EXPLORA I (IMO 9869875) with a gross tonnage of 63,900 is scheduled to be christened in Civitavecchia on July 8th. The 15-day maiden voyage is scheduled to depart from Southampton on July 17, a voyage into the Norwegian fjords with final destination Copenhagen.
The 248 meter long cruise ship offers its passengers numerous amenities on board:
– 3 outdoor pools, one indoor pool, 64 private cabanas
– Ocean Wellness on 1000 square meters with indoor and outdoor wellness offers
– 6 restaurants and 12 bars and lounges

Fincantieri is currently constructing the largest cruise ship ever built for Princess Cruises, with space for 4,000 guests.
Interiors will be designed around Mediterranean themes, with a redesigned iconic piazza and the Dome, a state-of-the-art entertainment space inspired by the terraces of Santorini.
The Horizons Dining Room will feature a three-story dining area. This reimagined space is open and flexible, with dining options to suit every mood. Breathtaking views of the wake and natural light will highlight a decorative sculpture that extends from Deck 6 to Deck 8. The three decks each have their own personality, offer different dining experiences and vary in dress code.
Contemporary and versatile, the Princess Arena will be Princess Cruises‘ most technologically advanced theater design. Upon entering, guests‘ eyes are drawn to a stunning image above the central stage that can become part of the show. Gently curved walls are intended to allude to the movement of the tides. The theater will seat 1000 guests.

Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria – Serving a modern, casual yet elegant Italian dining experience, the newly re-imagined Sabatini’s will appeal to families with its handcrafted pasta dishes, prepared fresh daily. A geometric design will also feature a noodle room where guests can marvel at the noodle making process. The restaurant is designed with intimate bistro-style corners and a circular main room.
Princess live! – Here the design elements of Princess Live! and the Explorer’s Lounge, popular with guests will be combined. Join-in cruise activities include game shows and a daily wake show. The area is characterized by an inviting semi-open facade and a large LED screen on the stage. Guests can easily walk over to a nearby restaurant or cocktail lounge.
The Shops of Princess – With five shops and an art gallery, The Shops of Princess is getting a makeover on the SUN PRINCESS, and guests can expect the same great experience as on the other Princess cruise ships, only more of it. Bei dem Schiff handelt es sich um die ehemalige MAASDAM der Holland America Line, gebaut 1993 bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone, 219,21 Meter lang und mit 55.575 gross tons vermessen. Holland America Line hatte das Schiff der Statendam-Klasse 2020 während der Corona-Pandemie an die griechische Gesellschaft Seajets verkauft, die es in AEGEAN MYTH umbenannt, aber selbst nie zum Einsatz gebracht hatte.

New cruise line established
A new French cruise company is formed with the CFC Compagnie Française de Croisières. This new company just acquired the AEGEAN MYTH (IMO 8919257) from Seajets and renamed her RENAISSANCE. The ship is the former MAASDAM of the Holland America Line, built in 1993 by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, 219.21 meters long and measured at 55,575 gross tons. Holland America Line had sold the Statendam-class ship to the Greek company Seajets in 2020 during the corona pandemic, which renamed her AEGEAN MYTH but never made use of her.
The founders of CFC Compagnie Française de Croisières, based in Marseille, are Clément Mousset, former Director of CMV France, and Cédric Rivoire Perrochat, former Director of Marketing, Communications and Operations at CMV France. The founders want to announce more details at the beginning of September.
Modifizierte Versionen für EXPLORA III und IV geplant
Am 30. Mai wurde auf der Fincantieri-Werft im italienischen Monfalcone das Aufschwimmen der EXPLORA I (IMO 9869875) gefeiert. Sie ist das erste von vier Kreuzfahrtschiffen für Explora Journeys, der Luxus-Kreuzfahrtmarke von MSC Cruises. Die Fertigstellung ist für Ende Mai 2023 geplant.
Ein Jahr später, im Sommer 2024, soll die EXPLORA II (IMO 9869887), dessen Bau bereits begonnen hat, ebenfalls fertiggestellt sein. Für den Bau der EXPLORA III und IV (IMO 9869899 + IMO 9869904) wird derzeit eine modifizierte Version mit LNG-Antrieb geprüft.
EXPLORA I Floated Out – Photo Gallery
On May 30th, the floating out of EXPLORA I (IMO 9869875) was celebrated on the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. She is the first of four cruise ships for Explora Journeys, MSC Cruises‘ luxury cruise brand. Completion is scheduled for the end of May 2023.
A year later, in the summer of 2024, the EXPLORA II (IMO 9869887), whose construction has already begun, should also be completed. A modified version with an LNG drive is currently being tested for the construction of the EXPLORA III and IV (IMO 9869899 + IMO 9869904).

In Anwesenheit von Kapitän Gennaro Arma schickten sie eine riesige Flasche Champagner Richtung Bordwand, womit die Discovery Princess offiziell getauft und in der Flotte von Princess Cruises aufgenommen war.
Die 3.660 Gäste fassende Discovery Princess wurde bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italien, gebaut und ist der sechste und letzte Neubau der Royal-Klasse. Ihre Schwesterschiffe sind die Enchanted Princess,Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess und Royal Princess.
Die DISCOVERY PRINCESS wird in ihrer ersten Sommersaison für siebentägige Alaska-Kreuzfahrten von Seattle aus eingesetzt.
Naming Ceremony for DISCOVERY PRINCESS
On April 29th, the DISCOVERY PRINCESS was christened in an imaginative ceremony in the port of Los Angeles. Four television stars and show hosts appeared as godparents together: fashion designer Randy Fenoli, chef Alex Guarnaschelli, special effects designer and producer Adam Savage, and real estate agent and flipper extraordinaire Page Turner. In the presence of Captain Gennaro Arma, they sent a huge bottle of champagne towards the ship’s hull, officially christening the Discovery Princess and welcoming her to the Princess Cruises fleet.
Built at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, the 3,660-guest Discovery Princess is the sixth and final newbuild of the Royal Class. Her sister ships are the Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess.
The DISCOVERY PRINCESS will offer in her first summer season seven-day Alaskan cruises from Seattle.

On January 28, 2022, Princess Cruises took delivery of their DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) from the shipyard Fincantieri in Monfalcone. The DISCOVERY PRINCESS is the sixth and final Royal Class cruise ship. She has a gross tonnage of 145,281 and can accommodate 3,660 passengers.
The new cruise liner will soon set course for the US West Coast to cruise from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera. In the summer of this year, the DISCOVERY PRINCESS will then be used for seven-day cruises from Seattle to Alaska.

Sixth Royal Class ship nearing completion
The DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) has just returned from her five-day sea trials to the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Before the cruise ship will be delivered to Princess Cruises, there is still some remaining work to be done on board.
The ship, designed for 3,660 passengers, is the sixth and last Royal Class ship for Princess Cruises. It is planned to use the Cruise Liner from the end of March 2022 for cruises along the US west coast to the Mexican Riviera and from the end of April for 7-day cruises from Seattle to Alaska.
