Erstmals ganz neue Schiffe für Marella Cruises

Die italienische Werftengruppe Fincantieri und TUI haben eine Vereinbarung zum Bau von zwei neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffen für Marella Cruises getroffen. Marella Cruises ist die britische Kreuzfahrtmarke von TUI. Die Schiffe werden die ersten Neubauten überhaupt für Marella Cruises. Zuvor hatte die Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft stets gebrauchte Tonnage übernommen.

Die neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffe werden speziell für den britischen Markt konzipiert und sollen mit einem Fokus auf Nachhaltigkeit in Sachen Umweltverträglichkeit gebaut werden. Indienststellung ist für 2030 und 2032 geplant.

First-ever brand-new ships for Marella Cruises

The Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri and TUI have reached an agreement to build two new cruise ships for Marella Cruises, TUI’s British cruise brand. The ships will be the first ever new ships for Marella Cruises. Previously, the cruise line had always acquired used tonnage.

The new cruise ships will be designed specifically for the British market and will be built with a focus on environmental sustainability. Entry into service is planned for 2030 and 2032.

NORWEGIAN LUNA erreicht nächsten Meilenstein

Am 13. März 2025 hat die Fincantieri-Werft in Marghera die NORWEGIAN AQUA (IMO 9824007) abgeliefert. Sie ist das erste Schiff der Prima-Plus-Klasse für Norwegian Cruise Line. Mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 156.300 und einer Länge von 322 Metern ist sie etwa 10% größer als ihre beiden Vorgängerschiffe NORWEGIAN PRIMA und NORWEGIAN VIVA.

Mit dem Aufschwimmen der NORWEGIAN LUNA (IMO 9824019) am 14. März wurde sogleich der nächste wichtige Meilenstein im Bau des zweiten Schiffs der Prima-Plus-Klasse erreicht.

NORWEGIAN LUNA Reaches Next Milestone

On March 13, 2025, the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, delivered NORWEGIAN AQUA (IMO 9824007). She is the first Prima Plus class ship for Norwegian Cruise Line. With a gross tonnage of 156,300 and a length of 322 meters, she is approximately 10% larger than her two predecessors, NORWEGIAN PRIMA and NORWEGIAN VIVA.

With the floating out of NORWEGIAN LUNA (IMO 9824019) on March 14, the next important milestone in the construction of the second Prima Plus class ship was reached.

P&O Australia verkauft PACIFIC EXPLORER an Resorts World Cruises

Kreuzfahrtschiff STAR SCORPIO

P&O Australia trennt sich von ihrer PACIFIC EXPLORER (IMO 9103996). Mit Wirkung März 2025 wird das Schiff an Resorts World Cruises verkauft und in STAR SCORPIO umbenannt. Resorts World Cruises ist die Nachfolge-Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft von Genting Hong Kong, die 2022 in Insolvenz gegangen war.

Das Kreuzfahrtschiff wurde 1997 bei Fincantieri Monfalcone als DAWN PRINCESS für Princess Cruises gebaut. Seit Mai 2017 fährt es unter dem Namen PACIFIC EXPLORER für P&O Australia. Der Cruise Liner ist 261,31 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 77.441 vermessen. Er hat Platz für knapp 2.000 Passagiere.

Die STAR SCORPIO wird in Singapur stationiert. Ihre Jungfernfahrt startet am 26. März. Mit der STAR SCORPIO werden Reisen zu verschiedenen Zielen in Indonesien, Malaysia, Thailand und Vietnam angeboten.

P&O Australia Selling PACIFIC EXPLORER to Resorts World Cruises

P&O Australia are selling their PACIFIC EXPLORER (IMO 9103996). With effect from March 2025, the ship will be sold to Resorts World Cruises and renamed STAR SCORPIO. Resorts World Cruises is the successor cruise company to Genting Hong Kong, which went bankrupt in 2022.

The cruise ship was built in 1997 by Fincantieri Monfalcone, Italy, as DAWN PRINCESS for Princess Cruises. Since May 2017, she has been sailing for P&O Australia under the name PACIFIC EXPLORER. The cruise liner is 261.31 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 77,441. Her passenger capacity is almost 2,000.

The STAR SCORPIO will be based in Singapore. Her maiden voyage starts on March 26th. The STAR SCORPIO offers trips to various destinations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Sea Trials der MEIN SCHIFF RELAX

Das erste Schiff der neuen InTUItion-Klasse für TUI Cruises, die MEIN SCHIFF RELAX, hat ihre ersten Probefahrten erfolgreich beendet. Dabei wurde u.a. die Manövrierfähigkeit des Schiffs getestet. Beim Fahren zahlreicher Manöver wie dem sogenannten Williamson-Turn, einem Zick-Zack-Kurs sowie eines 360º-Wendekreises hat die MEIN SCHIFF RELAX ihre Wendigkeit unter Beweis gestellt. Es wird mindestens noch eine zweite Probefahrt folgen, auf der auch der LNG-Antrieb getestet wird.

Die Taufe in Málaga

Die erste offizielle Reise der MEIN SCHIFF RELEAX startet am 16. März 2025 in Palma de Mallorca. Die Taufe wird am 9. April 2025 in Málaga stattfinden. Als Taufpatinnen wurden diesmal die MEIN SCHIFF 5 und MEIN SCHIFF 7, die dem Event beiwohnen werden, auserkoren. Mit dabei sein wird auch Sänger und Wohlfühlbotschafter der MEIN SCHIFF RELAX Robbie Williams.

Das Schwesterschiff

Unterdessen wurde auch der Name des zweiten Schiffs der InTUItion-Klasse bekanntgegeben: MEIN SCHIFF FLOW. Es soll 2026 in Dienst gestellt werden.

Details of the christening and the second ship in this class announced

Sea Trials of MEIN SCHIFF RELAX

The first ship in the new InTUItion class for TUI Cruises, the MEIN SCHIFF RELAX, has successfully completed its first test runs. Among other things, the ship’s maneuverability was tested. The MEIN SCHIFF RELAX demonstrated its maneuverability by performing numerous maneuvers such as the so-called Williamson turn, a zigzag course and a 360º turning circle. At least a second test run will follow, during which the LNG drive will also be tested.

Naming Ceremony in Málaga

The first official voyage of the MEIN SCHIFF RELEAX will start on March 16, 2025 in Palma de Mallorca. The christening will take place on April 9, 2025 in Málaga, Spain. Zweites Schiff der Sphere-Klasse

Am 26. September ist die STAR PRINCESS auf der Fincantieri-Werft im italienischen Monfalcone erstmals aufgeschwommen. Der Cruise Liner wird bei Fertigstellung das zweitgrößte je in Italien gebaute Schiff. Anlässlich des Aufschwimmens wurde die STAR PRINCESS in einer kleinen Zeremonie getauft. Taufpatinnen waren Chiara del Vecchio, 3. Ingenieur an Bord der SUN PRINCESS, sowie Francesca Maraventano, Assistentin der Geschäftsführung bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone.

Ablieferung der STAR PRINCESS, zweites Schiff der Sphere-Klasse für Princess Cruises, ist für Herbst 2025 vorgesehen. Sie wird bei Fertigstellung mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 178.000 vermessen sein und Platz für bis zu 4.300 Passagiere haben.

On September 26, the STAR PRINCESS was floated out on the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. When completed, the cruise liner will be the second largest ship ever built in Italy. During the float-out ceremony the STAR PRINCESS was christened by the godmothers Chiara del Vecchio, 3rd engineer on board the SUN PRINCESS, and Francesca Maraventano, management assistant at Fincantieri in Monfalcone.

The STAR PRINCESS, second sphere class cruise ship, is scheduled to be delivered in autumn 2025. Seh will have a gross tonnage of 178,000 and a passenger capacity of 4,300.

Ablieferung, Münzzeremonie und erster Stahlschnitt

Auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Sestri Ponente, Italien, gab es am 12. September gleich drei Anlässe zum Feiern:

Die Ablieferung der EXPLORA II, die traditionelle Münz-Zeremonie der EXPLORA III sowie den ersten Stahlschnitt für die EXPLORA IV.

Damit geht der Aufbau der Flotte für Explora Journeys, der Luxus-Marke von MSC Cruises, stetig voran.

Die EXPLORA II (IMO 9869887) soll am 15. September in Civitavecchia getauft werden, EXPLORA III (IMO 9869899) soll 2026 in Dienst gestellt werden, EXPLORA IV (IMO 9869904) im Jahr darauf.

On the Fincantieri shipyard in Sestri Ponente, Italy, there were three reasons to celebrate on September 12th:

The delivery of the EXPLORA II, the traditional coin ceremony for the EXPLORA III and the first steel cutting for the EXPLORA IV.

This means that the construction of the fleet for Explora Journeys, the luxury brand of MSC Cruises, is progressing steadily.

The EXPLORA II (IMO 9869887) is to be christened on September 15th in Civitavecchia, EXPLORA III (IMO 9869899) is to be put into service in 2026, EXPLORA IV (IMO 9869904) the following year.

Carnival bestellt 3 neue Mega-Liner

Die italienische Werften-Gruppe Fincantieri erhält von Carnival Cruise Line einen Auftrag zum Bau von drei neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffen. Die Schiffe sollen jeweils mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 230.000 vermessen sein. Damit werden sie die größten je in Italien gebauten Schiffe. Mit 3.000 Gäste-Kabinen sollen die Schiffe für jeweils nahezu 8.000 Passagiere ausgelegt sein. Die Schiffe sollen mit LNG betrieben werden. Auslieferung ist für 2029, 2031 und 2033 geplant.

The Italian shipyard group Fincantieri has received an order from Carnival Cruise Line to build three new cruise ships. The ships will each have a gross tonnage of 230,000. This will make them the largest ships ever built in Italy. With 3,000 guest cabins, the ships will be designed for almost 8,000 passengers each. The ships will be powered by LNG. Delivery is planned for 2029, 2031 and 2033

ALLURA erstmals aufgeschwommen

Zweites Schiff der Allura-Klasse für Oceania Cruises

Auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Sestri Ponente, Italien, ist die ALLURA das erste Mal aufgeschwommen und hat das Baudock verlassen. Sie wurde zur weiteren Fertigstellung am Ausrüstungspier festgemacht.

Die ALLURA ist das zweite Schiff der gleichnamigen Klasse und damit ein Schwesterschiff der VISTA. Kaplan Vater Stefano taufte die ALLURA auf der Werft. Dies geschah in einer schlichten Zeremonie in Gedenken an den kürzlich verstorbenen General Claudio Graziano, Vorsitzender von Fincnatieri.

Die ALLURA soll in gut einem Jahr, am 18. Juli 2025, zu ihrer ersten Kreuzfahrt starten: eine Sechs-Tage-Kreuzfahrt ab Triest nach Athen.

Second ship of the Allura class for Oceania Cruises

The ALLURA floated was floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Sestri Ponente, Italy, and left the construction dock. She was moored at the outfitting pier for further completion.

The ALLURA is the second ship of the class of the same name and thus a sister ship of the VISTA. Chaplain Father Stefano christened the ALLURA at the shipyard. This took place in a simple ceremony in memory of the recently deceased General Claudio Graziano, Chairman of Fincnatieri.

The ALLURA is scheduled to cast off for her first cruise in just over a year, on July 18, 2025: a six-day cruise from Trieste to Athens.

Zwei neue Kreuzfahrtschiffe von Fincantieri für Crystal Cruises

Crystal Cruises Newbuild for delivery in 2028

Crystal Cruises haben mit Fincantieri eine Absichtserklärung zum Bau zweier neuer Kreuzfahrtschiffe geschlossen.

Fincantieri soll demnach den Auftrag für zwei Schiffe mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von jeweils 61.800 und Platz für 690 Passagiere erhalten.

Ein herausragendes Merkmal wird eine Promenade sein, die sich um das gesamte Schiff erstreckt. Gehobene Kulinarik, exklusive Unterhaltungsangebote sowie ein großer Spa-Bereich sollen den Luxus an Bord unterstreichen. Darüber hinaus sollen auch für Kinder spannende Aktivitäten angeboten werden.

Die neuen Schiffe werden ausschließlich Suiten mit privaten Verandas bieten, darunter auch Einzel-Suiten für Alleinreisende.

Das erste Schiff soll im Frühjahr 2028 abgeliefert werden.

Crystal Cruises have signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Fincantieri to build two new cruise ships.

Fincantieri is to receive the order for two ships, each with a gross tonnage of 61,800 and space for 690 passengers.

A prominent feature will be a promenade that stretches around the entire ship. Upscale cuisine, exclusive entertainment options and a large spa area are intended to underline the luxury on board. In addition, exciting activities will also be offered for children.

The new ships will only offer suites with private verandas, including single suites for solo travelers.

The first ship is scheduled to be delivered in spring 2028.

Ausblick auf die neuen Highlights an Bord

Am 23. April ist die NORWEGIAN AQUA (IMO 9824007) auf der Werft Fincantieri in Marghera bei Venedig erstmals aufgeschwommen. Damit wurde ein wichtiger Meilenstein im Bau des jüngsten Neubaus für Norwegian Cruise Line erreicht. NORWEGIAN AQUA wird das erste Schiff der Prima-Plus-Klasse. Sie wird etwa 10% größer werden als ihre beiden Vorgängerschiffe NORWEGIAN PRIMA und NORWEGIAN VIVA.

Im Rahmen der Zeremonie zum erstmaligen Aufschwimmen wurden in maritimer Tradition zwei Münzen in den Rumpf der NORWEGIAN AQUA eingeschweißt . Historisch betrachtet symbolisieren diese Münzen eine Opfergabe an die alten Götter und Göttinnen des Meeres im Austausch für Glück und eine allzeit sichere Fahrt. Im Anschluss an die Zeremonie segnete ein örtlicher Geistlicher das Schiff und ließ feierlich eine Flasche Champagner am Schiffsrumpf zerschellen.

NORWEIGAN AQUA wird eine Bruttoraumzahl von 156.300 bei einer Länge von 322 Metern haben. Norwegian Cruise Line kündigt einige Neuerung für das Schiff an:  den Aqua Slidecoaster, den ersten Hybrid aus Achterbahn und Wasserrutsche; den Glow Court, einen neuen digitalen Sportkomplex mit interaktivem LED-Boden, sowie den Ocean Boulevard, NCL‘s bisher größte 360-Grad-Außenpromenade, den Ocean Boulevard. Im luxuriösen The Haven by Norwegian® findet man die ersten Drei-Zimmer-Duplex-Suiten.

On April 23rd, the NORWEGIAN AQUA (IMO 9824007) was floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera near Venice. This marked an important milestone in the construction of the latest newbuild for Norwegian Cruise Line. NORWEGIAN AQUA will be the first Prima Plus class ship. She will be around 10% larger than her two predecessor ships NORWEGIAN PRIMA and NORWEGIAN VIVA.

As part of the float out ceremony, two coins were welded into the hull of the NORWEGIAN AQUA in a maritime tradition. Historically, these coins symbolize an offering to the ancient gods and goddesses of the sea in exchange for good luck and safe travel at all times. Following the ceremony, a local priest blessed the ship and ceremoniously smashed a bottle of champagne against the hull.

NORWEIGAN AQUA will have a gross tonnage of 156,300 and a length of 322 meters. Norwegian Cruise Line announces several new features for the ship: the Aqua Slidecoaster, the first hybrid roller coaster and water slide; the Glow Court, a new digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor, and Ocean Boulevard, NCL’s largest 360-degree outdoor promenade to date, Ocean Boulevard. The first three-bedroom duplex suites can be found in the luxurious The Haven by Norwegian®.

Am 24. April wurde in Long Beach die CARNIVAL FIRENZE (IMO 9801691) getauft. Taufpate war der Schauspieler Jonathan Bennett. Während der Veranstaltung wurde er zum Ehren-Italiener ernannt. Auch Carnival Cruise Line’s Präsidentin Christine Duffy feierte mit. Die CARNIVAL FIRENZE ist fortan in Long Beach stationiert, von wo sie am 25. April auch ihre Jungfernfahrt für Carnival Cruise Line startete.

Der Cruise Liner war 2019 / 2020 als COSTA FIRENZE bei Fincantieri im italienischen Monfalcone für Costa Cruises gebaut worden. Sie ist 323 Meter lang und hat eine Bruttoraumzahl von 135.156.

The Vista class cruise ship CARNIVAL FIRENZE (IMO 9801691) was christened in Long Beach on April 24th. Godfather was the actor Jonathan Bennett. During the event he was made an honorary Italian. Carnival Cruise Line’s President Christine Duffy also joined the party. CARNIVAL FIRENZE’s baseport currently is Long Beach, from where she started her maiden voyage for Carnival Cruise Line on April 25th.

The cruise liner was built in 2019/2020 as COSTA FIRENZE at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, for Costa Cruises. She is 323 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 135,156.

Am 19. April 2024 hat Cunard die QUEEN ANNE von der Bauwerft Fincantieri in Marghera bei Venedig übernommen und dadurch die Flotte zu einem Quartett ergänzt. Die Übergabe fand im Rahmen einer feierlichen Zeremonie statt.

An der Veranstaltung nahmen Katie McAlister (Präsidentin von Cunard), Paul Ludlow (Präsident von Carnival UK), Pierroberto Folgiero (CEO und Managing Director von Fincantieri), Luigi Matarazzo (Generaldirektor der Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division) und Marco Lunardi (Direktor der Fincantieri-Werft) teil.

Der italienische Minister für Unternehmen und „Made in Italy“, Adolfo Urso, und der italienische Minister für Beziehungen zum Parlament, Luca Ciriani, waren ebenfalls anwesend.

Die QUEEN ANNE ist 322,51 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 113.000 vermessen. Sie hat Platz für ca. 3.000 Passagiere. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff wird am 3. Juni in Liverpool getauft.

On April 19, 2024, Cunard took delivery QUEEN ANNE from the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera near Venice, thereby expanding the fleet to a quartet. The handover took place as part of a celebratory ceremony.

Das Start-Up Neonyx Cruises wird ab diesem Sommer Ägäis-Kreuzfahrten ab Piräus anbieten. Dafür wird die Gesellschaft die GODDESS OF NIGHT einsetzen, die dazu derzeit auf einer türkischen Werft für diesen Zweck umgebaut wird. Bei dem Kreuzfahrtschiff handelt es sich um die ehemalige COSTA MAGICA (IMO 9239795), die die griechische Reederei Seajets vor einiger Zeit von Costa Cruises gekauft und in MYKONOS MAGIC umbenannt hatte. Die GODDESS OF NIGHT wird für sogenannte Adult Only Cruises eingesetzt.

Das Kreuzfahrtschiff war 2003 / 2004 bei Fincantieri in Sestri Ponente gebaut worden. Es ist 272,20 Meter lang, hat eine Bruttoraumzahl von 102.587 und eine Passagier-Kapazität von 3.470.

The start-up company Neonyx Cruises will offer Aegean cruises from Piraeus starting this summer. For this purpose, the company will use the GODDESS OF NIGHT, which is currently being converted on a Turkish yard for this purpose. The cruise ship is the former COSTA MAGICA (IMO 9239795), which the Greek shipping company Seajets bought from Costa Cruises some time ago and renamed her MYKONOS MAGIC. The GODDESS OF NIGHT is used for Adult Only Cruises.

The cruise ship was built in 2003/2004 by Fincantieri in Sestri Ponente. She is 272.20 meters long, has a gross tonnage of 102,587 and a passenger capacity of 3,470.

Erste Reise abgesagt

Princess Cruises haben am 14. Februar die SUN PRINCESS (IMO 9863118) von der Bauwerft Fincantieri in Monfalcone übernommen. Sie ist nicht nur das modernste Schiff der Princess Cruises Flotte, sondern das bisher größte in Italien fertiggestellte Kreuzfahrtschiff, zudem das erste von Fincantieri mit LNG-Antrieb.

Die SUN PRINCESS ist mit 175.500 gross tons vermessen und hat Platz für 4.300 Passagiere.

Zum Bedauern der Reederei musste allerdings die erste Reise am 18. Februar abgesagt werden. Die Jungfernfahrt startet nun am 28. Februar in Civitavecchia, Italien.

Princess Cruises took delivery of the SUN PRINCESS (IMO 9863118) from the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on February 14th. She is not only the most modern ship in the Princess Cruises fleet, but also the largest cruise ship completed in Italy to date and the first from Fincantieri with LNG propulsion.

To the shipping company’s regret, however, the first voyage on February 18th had to be canceled. The maiden voyage now starts on February 28th from Civitavecchia, Italy.

SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR Naming Ceremony

Am 10. Dezember 2023 wurde die SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR (IMO 9877444), jüngster Flottenzugang bei Regent Seven Seas Cruises, in Miami getauft. Taufpatin war Sarah Fabergé, Urenkelin von Peter Carl Fabergé, dessen Ei-Kunst-Kreationen weltweite Berühmtheit erlangt haben und für puren Luxus stehen.

Sarah Fabergé enthüllte während der Tauffeier auch das allererste dauerhaft auf See ausgestellte Fabergé-Ei, welches den Namen „Journey of Jewels“ trägt. Danach taufte sie das Kreuzfahrtschiff offiziell auf den Namen SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR, indem sie eine Flasche Champagner am Bug zerschellen ließ.

Die SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR ist nach der SEVEN SEAS EXPLORER und SEVEN SEAS SPLENDOR das dritte Schiff der Explorer-Klasse von Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Sie wurde am 13. November 2024 von Fincantieri Ancona abgeliefert, ist mit 55.254 gross tons vermessen und hat Platz für 746 Passagiere.

SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR ceremoniously christened

On December 10, 2023, the SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR (IMO 9877444), the latest addition to the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet, was christened in Miami. Godmother was Sarah Fabergé, great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé, whose egg art creations have achieved worldwide fame and represent pure luxury.

During the christening ceremony, Sarah Fabergé also unveiled the first-ever Fabergé egg on permanent display at sea, called “Journey of Jewels.” She then officially named the cruise ship SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR by smashing a bottle of champagne on the bow.

The SEVEN SEAS GRANDEUR is the third Explorer class ship for Regent Seven Seas Cruises after the SEVEN SEAS EXPLORER and SEVEN SEAS SPLENDOR. She was delivered on November 13, 2024 by Fincantieri Ancona, is measured at 55,254 gross tons and has space for 746 passengers.
