Die STAR OF THE SEAS, das neueste Schiff der Icon Class von Royal Caribbean, wurde offiziell in die Flotte aufgenommen und soll im August 2025 von Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, aus in See stechen. Nach fast zweijähriger Bauzeit auf der Meyer Turku Werft in Finnland wurden die Schlüssel für das Schiff an Royal Caribbean übergeben. Die Übergabe wurde am 10. Juli 2025 in einer Zeremonie mit über 1.250 Besatzungsmitgliedern und Partnern im AquaTheater des Schiffes gefeiert. Jason Liberty, Präsident und CEO der Royal Caribbean Group, und Michael Bayley, Präsident und CEO von Royal Caribbean, würdigten die harte Arbeit und Innovation, die in den Bau des Schiffes geflossen sind.

Die STAR OF THE SEAS wird als wegweisend für die Zukunft des Familienurlaubs angesehen und bietet eine Vielzahl von Erlebnissen. Sie wird 7-tägige Abenteuer in der östlichen und westlichen Karibik anbieten, einschließlich Stopps am „Perfect Day at CocoCay“ auf den Bahamas.

Zu den Höhepunkten des Schiffes gehören:

• Thrill Island: Der größte Wasserpark auf See, Category 6, mit sechs rekordverdächtigen Wasserrutschen, sowie Crown’s Edge, ein 47 Meter hohes Erlebnisbad, und beliebte Attraktionen wie der FlowRider Surfsimulator und die Kletterwand.
• Chill Island: Ein dreistöckiger Bereich mit vier Pools, darunter Royal Bay, der größte Pool auf See, sowie Live-Bands, DJs, eine Swim & Tonic Swim-up-Bar und The Lime & Coconut.
• Surfside: Ein Bereich speziell für junge Familien, mit Splashaway Bay und Baby Bay für Kinder und Kleinkinder sowie Water’s Edge für Erwachsene. Essensmöglichkeiten wie das Surfside Eatery und Pier 7 sind ebenfalls vorhanden.
• AquaDome: Eine ruhige Oase tagsüber und ein lebhafter Hotspot nachts, mit dem AquaTheater für atemberaubende Shows und verschiedenen gastronomischen Einrichtungen wie der Food Hall AquaDome Market, Rye & Bean Bar, Hooked Seafood und der Overlook Bar.
• The Hideaway: Ein Bereich nur für Erwachsene, 41 Meter über dem Meer gelegen, mit einem schwebenden Infinity-Pool, DJ, Bar, Terrasse mit Whirlpools und Meerblick.

Darüber hinaus verfügt die STAR OF THE SEAS über bekannte Royal Caribbean Favoriten wie die Royal Promenade mit Meerblick, die Pearl (die größte kinetische Kunstskulptur der Welt), den Open-Air-Central Park mit über 30.500 echten Pflanzen und den neuen Lincoln Park Supper Club. STAR OF THE SEAS, the newest ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, has officially joined the fleet and is scheduled to set sail from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, in August 2025. After nearly two years of construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the keys to the ship were handed over to Royal Caribbean. The handover was celebrated on July 10, 2025, in a ceremony attended by over 1,250 crew members and partners in the ship’s AquaTheater. Jason Liberty, President and CEO of the Royal Caribbean Group, and Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean, recognized the hard work and innovation that went into the ship’s construction.

STAR OF THE SEAS is considered a pioneer for the future of family vacations, offering a variety of experiences. It will offer 7-day adventures in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, including stops at the „Perfect Day at CocoCay“ in the Bahamas.

Ship highlights include:

• Thrill Island: The largest Category 6 water park at sea, with six record-breaking waterslides, as well as Crown’s Edge, a 47-meter-high water park, and popular attractions such as the FlowRider surf simulator and rock climbing wall.

• Chill Island: A three-story area with four pools, including Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea, as well as live bands, DJs, a Swim & Tonic swim-up bar, and The Lime & Coconut.

• Surfside: A space specifically for young families, with Splashaway Bay and Baby Bay for children and toddlers, and Water’s Edge for adults. Dining options such as the Surfside Eatery and Pier 7 are also available.

• AquaDome: A tranquil oasis by day and a lively hotspot by night, with the AquaTheater for breathtaking shows and various dining options such as the AquaDome Market food hall, Rye & Bean Bar, Hooked Seafood, and the Overlook Bar.

• The Hideaway: An adults-only area, located 41 meters above the ocean, with a suspended infinity pool, DJ, bar, terrace with whirlpools, and ocean views.

In addition, STAR OF THE SEAS features familiar Royal Caribbean favorites such as the ocean-view Royal Promenade, the Pearl (the world’s largest kinetic art sculpture), the open-air Central Park with over 30,500 real plants, and the new Lincoln Park Supper Club. There are also expanded overnight accommodations in the Suite Neighborhood on four decks.

STAR OF THE SEAS is the company’s third ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and incorporates advanced environmental programs to support Royal Caribbean Group’s goal of achieving net-zero cruise ships by 2035. LEGEND OF THE SEAS, the fourth LNG-powered Icon Class ship, is scheduled to follow in 2026.
