Silversea Cruises haben SILVER NOVA übernommen

Am 19. Juli 2023 hat die Meyer-Werft, Papenburg, die SILVER NOVA an Silversea Cruises übergeben. Die Übergabe-Zeremonie fand im niederländischen Eemshaven statt.

Die SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) ist das zwölfte Schiff und erste mit LNG betriebene Schiff der Silversea-Flotte.

Die Taufe des neuen Cruise Liners soll am 12. August im italienischen Triest gefeiert werden. Anschließend soll am 14. August die Jungfernfahrt in Venedig beginnen. Die Reise führt nach Piran, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Split sowie Rovinj und endet wieder in Venedig.

Naming Ceremony in Trieste

On July 19, 2023, Meyer Shipyard, Papenburg, Germany, handed over the SILVER NOVA to Silversea Cruises. The handover ceremony took place in Eemshaven, The Netherlands.

The SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) is the twelfth ship and first LNG-powered ship in the Silversea fleet.

The christening of the new cruise liner is to be celebrated on August 12 in Trieste, Italy. The maiden voyage in Venice is then scheduled to begin on August 14th. The journey leads to Piran, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Split and Rovinj and ends back in Venice.

SILVER RAY - Keel Laying and Coin Ceremony

Silversea Cruises und die Meyer-Werft feierten am 23. März 2023 die Kiellegung der SILVER RAY, des zweiten Schiffs der Nova-Klasse. Traditionsgemäß wurden Gedenkmünzen unter dem ersten Baublock platziert, was dem Schiff Glück bringen soll.

Der Zeremonie wohnten Barbara Muckermann, President + CEO von Silversea Cruises, sowie Jan Meyer, Managing Director der Meyer-Werft, bei. Die Feier fand neben der noch in Bau befindlichen SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) statt.

Die SILVER RAY soll bis 2024 fertiggestellt werden. Mit der Nova-Klasse wollen die Werft und Silversea Cruises neue Standards auf dem Weg zum Null-Emissions-Kreuzfahrtschiff setzen.

Keel Laying and Coin Ceremony for SILVER DREAM

On March 23, 2023, Silversea Cruises and Meyer-Werft celebrated the keel-laying of SILVER RAY, the second Nova class ship. Traditionally, commemorative coins were placed under the first building block to bring luck to the ship.

The ceremony was attended by Barbara Muckermann, President + CEO of Silversea Cruises, and Jan Meyer, Managing Director of Meyer Werft. The celebration took place next to the SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213), which is still under construction.

The SILVER RAY is scheduled to be completed by 2024. With the Nova class, the shipyard and Silversea Cruises want to set new standards on the way to zero-emission cruise ships.

SILVER RAY Steel Cutting

Bei Silversea Cruises scheint man gerade aus dem Feiern nicht herauszukommen. Hatte man in diesem Jahr bereits drei Schiffstaufen gefeiert, nämlich die der SILVER ORIGIN, SILVER DAWN und erst kürzlich der SILVER ENDEAVOUR, wurde am 23. November das nächste Event gefeiert. Auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg fand die traditionelle Zeremonie zum ersten Stahlschnitt der SILVER RAY, dem zweiten Schiff der Evolution-Klasse, statt.

Die SILVER RAY (IMO 9886225) wird ein Schwesterschiff der bereits in Bau befindlichen SILVER NOVA. Diese wird voraussichtlich im Sommer 2023 abgeliefert. Die SILVER RAY soll dann im Sommer 2024 folgen.

Beide Schiffe setzen laut Werft-Angaben mit einer Vielzahl von Innovationen neue Maßstäbe für Umweltschutz und Luxus-Kreuzfahrt. Sie werden demnach mit Abstand die nachhaltigsten ihrer Klasse sein. Dank eines innovativen Treibstoffkonzepts mit emissionsarmem LNG, einem Brennstoffzellensystem für den gesamten Hotelbetrieb sowie Batterien verfüge das neue Schiff über die bestmöglichen Maßnahmen, um Emissionen zu reduzieren.

Party atmosphere at Silversea – SILVER RAY Steel Cutting

At Silversea Cruises, the celebrations seem to be inescapable. After three ship christenings had already been celebrated this year, namely the SILVER ORIGIN, SILVER DAWN and most recently the SILVER ENDEAVOR, the next event was celebrated on November 23rd. The traditional ceremony for the first steel cutting of the SILVER RAY, the second ship of the Evolution class, took place at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg.

The SILVER RAY will be a sister ship to the SILVER NOVA, which is already under construction. The latter is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2023. The SILVER RAY should then follow in the summer of 2024.

According to the shipyard, both ships set new standards for environmental protection and luxury cruising with a large number of innovations. They will therefore be by far the most sustainable in their class. Thanks to an innovative fuel concept with low-emission LNG, a fuel cell system for all hotel operations and batteries, the new ship had the best possible measures to reduce emissions.

Bau der SILVER NOVA hat begonnen

Baubeginn für Silversea’s neuen Liner auf der Meyer-Werft

Bereits am 18. November wurde auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg der erste Stahlschnitt für die SILVER NOVA für Silversea Cruises gefeiert und damit offiziell die Bauphase begonnen. Die SILVER NOVA soll einen Hybrid-Antrieb bekommen: LNG (Flüssiggas) soll als Haupt-Treibstoff eingesetzt werden, Fuel Cells und Batterien sollen in Häfen zum Einsatz kommen, um dort emissionsfrei liegen zu können.

Die SILVER NOVA wird mit ca. 54.700 gross tons vermessen sein und für 728 Passagiere ausgelegt. Ablieferung ist für Sommer 2023 geplant.

Construction of the SILVER NOVA has started

On November 18, the first steel cut for the SILVER NOVA for Silversea Cruises was celebrated at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, and the construction phase officially began. The SILVER NOVA will be hybrid driven: LNG is to be used as the main fuel, fuel cells and batteries are to be used in ports so that the ship can stay there without emissions. The SILVER NOVA will be measured with approx. 54,700 gross tons and designed for 728 passengers. Delivery is planned for summer 2023.
