Am 23.April wurde die SUN PRINCESS, erstes Kreuzfahrtschiff der Sphere-Klasse für Princess Cruises, feierlich in Barcelona getauft. Taufpatin war die Schauspielerin und Performerin Hannah Waddingham. Die Feier fand an Bord in der Princess Arena statt. Schauspieler und Zauberer Michael Carbonaro führte als Zeremonienmeister durch die Veranstaltung.

In maritimer Tradition wurde die SUN PRINCESS durch Zerschellen einer Flasche Champagner am Bug getauft, nachdem Hannah Waddingham die Taufworte gesprochen hatte: „I name this ship SUN PRINCESS. May God bless her and all who sail on her“.

On April 23rd, the SUN PRINCESS, the first Sphere class cruise ship for Princess Cruises, was christened in Barcelona. Godmother was the actress and performer Hannah Waddingham. The celebration took place on board in the Princess Arena. Actor and magician Michael Carbonaro led the event as master of ceremonies.

In maritime tradition, the SUN PRINCESS was christened by smashing a bottle of champagne on the bow after Hannah Waddingham said the christening words: “I name this ship SUN PRINCESS. May God bless her and all who sail on her”.

STAR PRINCESS – zweites Schiff der Sphere-Klasse

Princess Cruises setzen Flotten-Ausbau fort

Die Reihe der Sphere-Klasse-Kreuzfahrtschiffe für Princess Cruises wird fortgesetzt. Die derzeit bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone in Bau befindliche SUN PRINCESS ist mit 175.500 gross tons und einer Passagier-Kapazität von 4.300 das bisher größte in Italien gebaute Schiff. Die STAR PRINCESS wird das zweite Kreuzfahrtschiff dieser Baureihe. Beide Schiffe erhalten einen LNG-Antrieb.

Während die SUN PRINCESS im ersten Quartal 2024 abgeliefert werden soll, ist die Ablieferung der STAR PRINCESS für den Sommer 2025 geplant. Ihre erste Reise soll am 4. August 2025 in Civitavecchia beginnen und in die Ägäis führen. Es folgen weitere 9- bzw. 10-Nächte-Kreuzfahrten ab Civitavecchia, Athen und Triest.

Princess Cruises continue fleet expansion

The series of Sphere-class cruise ships for Princess Cruises will be continued. The SUN PRINCESS, currently under construction by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, is the largest ship ever built in Italy with 175,500 gross tons and a passenger capacity of 4,300. The STAR PRINCESS will be the second cruise ship in this series. Both ships will be powered by LNG.

While the SUN PRINCESS is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2024, the STAR PRINCESS will be delivered in summer of 2025. Her first voyage is scheduled to begin on August 4, 2025 in Civitavecchia and head to the Aegean Sea. Further 9- and 10-night cruises from Civitavecchia, Athens and Trieste to follow.

Erstes LNG-betriebenes Schiff für Princess Cruises

Sie wird das erste Kreuzfahrtschiff der neuen Sphere-Klasse und befindet sich derzeit in Bau bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone: die neue SUN PRINCESS. Sie wird das erste LNG-betriebene Schiff der Princess-Flotte. Auf 21 Decks soll Platz für bis zu 4.300 Passagiere in 2.150 Gäste-Kabinen angeboten werden, darunter werden 1.500 Balkon-Kabinen sein. 29 Bars und Restaurants werden den Gästen an Bord zur Verfügung stehen.

Highlights an Bord werden u.a. die Piazza sowie The Dome. Letztere sich eine überdachte Pool-Landschaft, die sich am Abend in eine außergewöhnliche Bühne und einen Entertainment-Bereich verwandelt.

Mit der Signature Collection wird ein exklusiver Suiten-Bereich eingeführt mit exklusivem Zugang zum Signature Restaurant, zur Signature Lounge sowie zum Signature Sun Deck, einem privaten Bereich der Sanctuary.

Anfang 2024 soll die SUN PRINCESS erstmalig in See stechen.

2025 soll ein zweites Schiff folgen.

First LNG-powered ship for Princess Cruises

She will be the first cruise ship of the new Sphere class and is currently under construction at Fincantieri, Monfalcone: the new SUN PRINCESS. She will be the first LNG-powered vessel in the Princess fleet, offering space for up to 4,300 passengers in 2,150 guest cabins on 21 decks, including 1,500 balcony cabins. 29 bars and restaurants will be available to guests on board.

Highlights on board will include the Piazza and The Dome. The latter is a covered pool area that transforms into an extraordinary stage and entertainment venue in the evening.

With the Signature Collection an exclusive suites area with exclusive access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge and Signature Sun Deck, a private area of the Sanctuary, will be introduced.

The SUN PRINCESS is scheduled to set sail for the first time in early 2024.

A second ship is to follow in 2025.
