STENA SAGA als Hospitalschiff auf dem Markt
Nachdem kürzlich die Passagier-starke Fährlinie Frederikshavn-Oslo von Stena Line – nicht nur vorübergehend – geschlossen wurde, bietet die Fährgesellschaft die 1981 gebaute Kreuzfahrtfähre STENA SAGA nunmehr als Hospital-Schiff an.
Stena Line beruft sich dabei auch auf ihre Erfahrung im Bau von Hospital-Schiffen. So ist Stena RoRo beispielsweise Projektmanager für Mercy Ships’ GLOBAL MERCY, das weltweit größte zivile Krankenhausschiff, das derzeit in China gebaut wird.
Die STENA SAGA könnte auf ähnliche Weise wie die SPLENDID von GNV, die derzeit in Genua als Krankenhausschiff eingesetzt wird, in ein Hospital-Schiff umgewandelt werden.
Dank der großen Anzahl von Kabinen – 593 Passagier-Kabinen gibt es auf dem Schiff – könnten auf der STENA SAGA mehr als 500 Krankenbetten zur Verfügung stehen, deutlich mehr als auf der SPLENDID. Laut Stena RoRo könnte STENA SAGA relativ kurzfristig innerhalb von etwa zwei Wochen zu einem vollständig klassenkonformen Hospital-Schiff umgebaut werden.
STENA SAGA as a hospital ship on the market
After Stena Line recently closed the passenger-strong Frederikshavn-Oslo ferry line – not only temporarily – the ferry company now offers the cruise ferry STENA SAGA built in 1981 as a hospital ship.
Stena Line also relies on their experience in the construction of hospital ships. For example, Stena RoRo is project manager for Mercy Ships GLOBAL MERCY, the world’s largest civilian hospital ship currently being built in China.
The STENA SAGA could be converted to a hospital ship in a similar way to the SPLENDID currently used in Genoa as a hospital ship.
Thanks to the large number of cabins – there are 593 passenger cabins on the ship – more than 500 sick beds could be available on STENA SAGA, significantly more than on SPLENDID. According to Stena RoRo, STENA SAGA could be converted into a fully class-compliant hospital ship within a short period of time: within about two weeks.
