Verschrottung hat begonnen

Anfang Januar 2021 ist die GRAND CELEBRATION (IMO 8314134) in Alang zum Abbruch eingetroffen.

Das Kreuzfahrtschiff war zuletzt bis zum Ausbruch der Corona-Pandemie für Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line unterwegs gewesen.

Der Cruise Liner war 1985 bis 1987 als CELEBRATION für Carnival Cruise Line bei Kockums in Malmö gebaut worden. Er war das dritte Schiff der Holiday-Klasse.

Die GRAND CELEBRATION war mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 47.263 vermessen. Bei einer Länge von 223,37 Metern hatte sie Platz für ca. 1.900 Passagiere.

Der Abbruch des Schiffs hat mittlerweile begonnen.

In the beginning of January 2021, the GRAND CELEBRATION (IMO 8314134) arrived in Alang for being scrapped. The cruise ship was last sailing for Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line until the outbreak of the corona pandemic. The Cruise Liner was built from 1985 to 1987 on the Kockums yard at Malmö, Sweden, as CELEBRATION for Carnival Cruise Line. She was the third Holiday class ship. The GRAND CELEBRATION was measured with a gross tonnage of 47,263. With a length of 223.37 meters, she had a passenger capacity of around 1,900 passengers. The demolition of the ship has already started.

Weiteres Schiff der Holiday-Klasse verschwindet

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line hat ihre GRAND CELEBRATION (IMO 8314134) zur Verschrottung verkauft. Der Preis wird mit 125 US-Dollar pro Tonne angegeben.

Das Kreuzfahrtschiff wurde 1985 bis 1987 bei Kockums im schwedischen Malmö als CELEBRATION für Carnival Cruise Lines gebaut. Sie ist ein Schiff der Holiday-Klasse.

Ein Schwesterschiff, die JUBILEE, zuletzt HENNA (IMO 8314122), wurde bereits 2017 verschrottet. Die andere Schwester, die  ehemalige HOLIDAY und heutige MAGELLAN (IMO 8217881), wurde jüngst durch die griechische Gesellschaft Seajets ersteigert, nachdem die britischen Cruise & Maritime Voyages in Insolvenz gegangen waren.

Another holiday class ship disappearing

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line have sold their GRAND CELEBRATION (IMO 8314134) for scrapping. The price is quoted at $ 125 per ton.

The cruise ship was built from 1985 to 1987 at Kockums in Malmö, Sweden, as CELEBRATION for Carnival Cruise Lines. She is a holiday class ship.

A sister ship, the JUBILEE, last name HENNA (IMO 8314122), was already scrapped in 2017. The other sister, the former HOLIDAY and today’s MAGELLAN (IMO 8217881), was recently bought on auction by the Greek company Seajets after the British Cruise & Maritime Voyages went bankrupt.
