Carnival bestellt 3 neue Mega-Liner

Die italienische Werften-Gruppe Fincantieri erhält von Carnival Cruise Line einen Auftrag zum Bau von drei neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffen. Die Schiffe sollen jeweils mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 230.000 vermessen sein. Damit werden sie die größten je in Italien gebauten Schiffe. Mit 3.000 Gäste-Kabinen sollen die Schiffe für jeweils nahezu 8.000 Passagiere ausgelegt sein. Die Schiffe sollen mit LNG betrieben werden. Auslieferung ist für 2029, 2031 und 2033 geplant.

Carnival ordering 3 new Mega Liners

The Italian shipyard group Fincantieri has received an order from Carnival Cruise Line to build three new cruise ships. The ships will each have a gross tonnage of 230,000. This will make them the largest ships ever built in Italy. With 3,000 guest cabins, the ships will be designed for almost 8,000 passengers each. The ships will be powered by LNG. Delivery is planned for 2029, 2031 and 2033

P&O Australia wird aufgelöst – Was aus den Schiffen wird

Die Carnival Corporation hat angekündigt, dass die Marke P&O Cruises Australia im März 2025 aufgelöst wird.

Zwei Schiffe der Flotte, die PACIFIC ENCOUNTER (ex STAR PRINCESS, IMO 9192363) und die PACIFIC ADVENTURE (ex GOLDEN PRINCESS, IMO 9192351) werden in die Flotte der Carnival Cruise Line integriert. Namen und Rumpfbemalung werden entsprechend angepasst. Das dritte Schiff, die PACIFIC EXPLORER (ex DAWN PRINCESS, IMO 9103996) wird die Flotte der Carnival-Gruppe im Februar 2025 verlassen.

Die Maßnahmen werden zur Gewinnsteigerung vollzogen. Carnival Cruise Line ist die einträglichste Marke innerhalb der Carnival-Gruppe. Entsprechend werden mehr Schiffe in diese Flotte integriert.

PACIFIC ADVENTURE

Restructuring at Carnival – P&O Australia will be terminated

The Carnival Corporation has announced that the P&O Cruises Australia brand will be terminated in March 2025.

Two ships in the fleet, the PACIFIC ENCOUNTER (ex STAR PRINCESS, IMO 9192363) and the PACIFIC ADVENTURE (ex GOLDEN PRINCESS, IMO 9192351) will be integrated into the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. The names and hull artwork will be adjusted accordingly. The third ship, the PACIFIC EXPLORER (ex DAWN PRINCESS, IMO 9103996) will leave the Carnival Group fleet in February 2025.

The measures are being taken to increase profits. Carnival Cruise Line is the most profitable brand within the Carnival Group. Accordingly, more ships will be integrated into this fleet.

Am 24. April wurde in Long Beach die CARNIVAL FIRENZE (IMO 9801691) getauft. Taufpate war der Schauspieler Jonathan Bennett. Während der Veranstaltung wurde er zum Ehren-Italiener ernannt. Auch Carnival Cruise Line’s Präsidentin Christine Duffy feierte mit. Die CARNIVAL FIRENZE ist fortan in Long Beach stationiert, von wo sie am 25. April auch ihre Jungfernfahrt für Carnival Cruise Line startete.

Der Cruise Liner war 2019 / 2020 als COSTA FIRENZE bei Fincantieri im italienischen Monfalcone für Costa Cruises gebaut worden. Sie ist 323 Meter lang und hat eine Bruttoraumzahl von 135.156.

The Vista class cruise ship CARNIVAL FIRENZE (IMO 9801691) was christened in Long Beach on April 24th. Godfather was the actor Jonathan Bennett. During the event he was made an honorary Italian. Carnival Cruise Line’s President Christine Duffy also joined the party. CARNIVAL FIRENZE’s baseport currently is Long Beach, from where she started her maiden voyage for Carnival Cruise Line on April 25th.

The cruise liner was built in 2019/2020 as COSTA FIRENZE at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, for Costa Cruises. She is 323 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 135,156.

Carnival erhöht das Auftrags-Volumen bei Meyer

Nachdem Carnival Cruise Line und die Meyer Werft, Papenburg, im Februar dieses Jahres den Bau eines weiteren Kreuzfahrtschiffs der Excel-Klasse für Ablieferung 2027 vereinbart hatten, wurde nun bekannt gegeben, dass darüber hinaus ein weiteres Schiff für Ablieferung 2028 gebaut werden soll. Carnival Cruise Line wird damit ab 2028 fünf Schiffe der Excel-Klasse betreiben. Die Neubauten werden Schwesterschiffe der Ende 2023 abgelieferten CARNIVAL JUBILEE werden. Sie sollen jeweils etwa 344 Meter lang werden, mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 180.000 vermessen sein und bis zu 6.400 Passagieren Platz bieten. Sie werden das zehnte und elfte Schiff dieser Klasse für die Carnival-Gruppe.

After Carnival Cruise Line and Meyer Werft, Germany, had agreed in February this year to build another Excel-class cruise ship for delivery in 2027, it has now been announced that another ship will built for delivery in 2028. This means Carnival Cruise Line will operate five Excel class ships from 2028. The new builds will be sister ships to the CARNIVAL JUBILEE, which was delivered in 2023. They will be each around 344 meters long, have a gross tonnage of 180,000 and offer space for up to 6,400 passengers. They will be the tenth and eleventh ships of this class for the Carnival group.

Feierliches Event zum 100. Geburtstag von Carnival-Gründer Ted Arison

Am 24. Februar 2024 wurde die CARNIVAL JUBILEE, jüngstes Schiff der Excellence-Klasse, in Galveston, Texas, getauft. Es war gleichzeitig der 100. Geburtstag von Ted Arison, Gründer von Carnival Cruise Line.

Taufpatin der CARNIVAL JUBILEE war die US-amerikanische Sängerin, Designerin und Schauspielerin Gwen Stefani. Sie taufte das Schiff während einer 45-minütigen Zeremonie, die im Theater des Schiffs stattfand. Es folgte ein Cocktail-Empfang sowie ein feierliches Mittagessen, bevor Gwen Stefani einige ihrer Hits präsentierte, wie zum Beispiel „Just A Girl“ und „Hollaback Girl“.

Wenige Tage zuvor war bekannt gegeben worden, dass die Meyer-Werft in Papenburg ein weiteres Schiff dieser Klasse für Carnival Cruise Line bauen wird.

Celebratory event for Carnival founder Ted Arison’s 100th birthday

On February 24, 2024, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE, the youngest Excellence Class ship, was christened in Galveston, Texas. It was also the 100th birthday of Ted Arison, founder of Carnival Cruise Line.

CARNIVAL JUBILEE’s godmother was the American singer, designer and actress Gwen Stefani. She christened the ship during a 45-minute ceremony held in the ship’s theater. A cocktail reception and celebratory lunch followed before Gwen Stefani performed some of her hits, including “Just A Girl” and “Hollaback Girl.”

A few days earlier it was announced that the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg would build another ship of this class for Carnival Cruise Line.

Gwen Stefani, Taufpatin der Carnival-Jubilee

Bei Carnival Cruise Line freut man sich auf den 24. Februar. An diesem Tag wird das jüngste Schiff der Flotte, die auf der Meyer-Werft Papenburg gebaute CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737), in Galveston, Texas, getauft. Taufpatin wird die US-amerikanische Sängerin, Rapperin, Designerin und Schauspielerin Gwen Stefani sein. Sie ist Frontfrau der Rockband No Doubt und wurde 2002 mit einem Grammy ausgezeichnet.

Carnival Cruise Line is looking forward to February 24th. On this day, the youngest ship in the fleet, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737), built at the Meyer shipyard Papenburg, will be christened in Galveston, Texas. The godmother will be the American singer, rapper, designer and actress Gwen Stefani. She is the frontwoman of the rock band No Doubt and was awarded a Grammy in 2002.

Neuntes Schiff der Helios-Klasse komplettiert die Baureihe

Am 4. Dezember 2023 hat die Meyer-Werft, Papenburg, mit der CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737) das neunte und letzte Schiff der Helios-Klasse (Excellence-Klasse) abgeliefert. Die Übergabe fand in Bremerhaven statt. Carnival Cruise Lines haben damit nach der MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) und CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456) ihr drittes Schiff dieser Baureihe erhalten.

Die CARNIVAL JUBILEE ist 345 Meter lang, 42 Meter breit und bietet Platz für 5.228 Passagiere in 2.687 Kabinen. Nach der bevorstehenden Transatlantik-Überquerung wird die CARNIVAL JUBILEE in Galveston, Texas, stationiert, wo sie am 23. Dezember auch ihre Jungfernfahrt beginnen wird.

Ninth ship of the Helios class completes the series

On December 4, 2023, the Meyer Werft, Papenburg, Germany, handed over the CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737), the ninth and final ship of the Helios class (Excellence class) to Canrival Cruise Lines,. The handover took place in Bremerhaven. Carnival Cruise Lines have now received their third ship in this series after the MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) and CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456).

The CARNIVAL JUBILEE is 345 meters long, 42 meters wide and has a passanger capacity of 5,228  in 2,687 cabins. After the upcoming transatlantic crossing, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE will be based in Galveston, Texas.

Erstes Kreuzfahrtschiff mit Achterbahn von der Papenburger Meyer-Werft

Der Zeitplan

Am Samstag, den 22. Juli 2023, soll die CARNIVAL JUBILEE aus der Bauhalle der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg ausgedockt werden. Dem Zeitplan zu Folge soll das Ausdocken um 9:00 Uhr beginnen und etwa drei Stunden dauern (vorbehaltlich der Wetterbedingungen). Die Wetteraussichten für Samstag Vormittag: überwiegend sonnig!

Das Kreuzfahrtschiff wird anschließend im Werfthafen vertäut, wo der Bau fortgesetzt wird.

Die Schiffs-Details

Die CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737) ist das letzte Schiff der Helios- / Excellence-Klasse für die Carnival-Gruppe. Ursprünglich war dieser Neubau einmal für AIDA Cruises vorgesehen. Der Cruise Liner, der als besondere Attraktion auch eine Achterbahn an Deck haben wird, soll bis Herbst dieses Jahres fertig gestellt werden und ihre erste Kreuzfahrt am 23. Dezember in Galveston beginnen. Das Schiff ist 344 Meter lang, 42 Meter breit und wird mit ca. 182.000 gross tons vermessen sein.

Time Schedule

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE is scheduled to be floated out from the construction hall of the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Anybody who is interested can watch this event! The area next to the construction hall is open to public. According to the schedule, undocking is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am and last approximately three hours (subject to weather conditions). The weather forecast for Saturday morning: mostly sunny!

The cruise ship will then be moored at the pier next to the construction hall where construction will be continued.

Ship’s Details

The CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737) is the last Helios/Excellence class ship for the Carnival group. This new build was originally intended for AIDA Cruises. The cruise liner, which will also feature a roller coaster on deck as a special attraction, is scheduled for completion by fall of this year and will begin her maiden cruise on December 23 in Galveston. The ship is 344 meters long, 42 meters wide and will be measured at approximately 182,000 gross tons.

Auftakt zur zweiten Karriere des ehemaligen Costa-Schiffs

Am 15. Juni 2023 gingen in New York City die ersten Passagiere an Bord der CARNIVAL VENEZIA. Das als COSTA VENEZIA gebaute Kreuzfahrtschiff war von Costa  an Carnival Cruise Lines übertragen worden und wurde am 15. Juni auf den neuen Namen CARNIVAL VENEZIA getauft. Taufpate war Comedian und TV-Moderator Jay Leno. Zuvor war das Schiff von Pater Enrique Salvo aus der St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York gesegnet worden. Zur Tauffeier gehörte auch eine Comedy Show von Jay Leno.

Die CARNIVAL VENEZIA (IMO 9801689) ist das erste Schiff der Carnival Cruise Line unter dem Motto „Carnival Fun Italian Style“. Mit New York City als Basis-Hafen wird der Cruise Liner in diesem Sommer Kreuzfahrten zwischen 4 und 8 Nächten fahren. Die Destinationen sind die Karibik, Bermuda sowie Häfen in Kanada und New England.

Start of the second career for the former Costa ship

On June 15, 2023, the first passengers boarded the CARNIVAL VENEZIA in New York City. The cruise ship, built as COSTA VENEZIA, had been transferred from Costa Cruises to Carnival Cruise Lines and was christened the new name CARNIVAL VENEZIA on June 15. Godfather was comedian and TV host Jay Leno. The ship had previously been blessed by Father Enrique Salvo of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. The christening ceremony also included a comedy show by Jay Leno.

The CARNIVAL VENEZIA (IMO 9801689) is the first ship of the Carnival Cruise Line under the motto „Carnival Fun Italian Style“. With New York City as its base port, the cruise liner will operate 4- to 8-night cruises this summer. The destinations are the Caribbean, Bermuda and ports in Canada and New England.
