Die MARDI GRAS, Carnival Cruise Lines’ erstes Schiff der Excel-Klasse, ist am 28. September an der Werft Chantier Naval de Marseille eingetroffen. Für routinemäßige Wartungsarbeiten sowie Klasse-Inspektionen wurde sie ins Trockendock gehoben.
Die MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) wurde 2019 / 2020 bei Meyer Turku gebaut. Sie ist 344 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 181.808 vermessen. Auf 18 Passagierdecks hat sie Platz für ca. 6.300 Passagiere in 2.641 Kabinen.
The MARDI GRAS, Carnival Cruise Lines‘ first Excel-class ship, arrived at the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard on September 28th. She was placed in dry dock for routine maintenance and class inspections.
The MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) was built by Meyer Turku in 2019/2020. She is 344 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 181,808 tons. She has 18 passenger decks and can accommodate approximately 6,300 passengers in 2,641 cabins.
Ein weiteres Kreuzfahrtschiff der Superlative nimmt in Papenburg Gestalt an. Die Meyer Werft und die amerikanische Carnival Cruise Line haben gemeinsam die Kiellegung für das fünfte Schiff der Excel-Klasse gefeiert. Das Schiff soll den Namen CARNIVAL FESTIVALE tragen und die erfolgreiche Reihe der LNG-betriebenen Kreuzfahrtriesen fortsetzen.
Das neue Schiff, registriert unter IMO 1060289, das im Frühjahr 2027 an Carnival ausgeliefert werden soll, ist ein Schwesterschiff der bereits bekannten und erfolgreichen Schiffe MARDI GRAS, CARNIVAL CELEBRATION und CARNIVAL JUBILEE. Mit einer Länge von 344 Metern und einer Bruttoraumzahl von etwa 180.000 wird es Platz für mehr als 6.400 Gäste bieten.
Another superlative cruise ship is taking shape in Papenburg. Meyer Werft and the American Carnival Cruise Line jointly celebrated the keel laying of the fifth ship in the Excel class. The ship will be named CARNIVAL FESTIVALE and continue the successful line of LNG-powered cruise giants.
The new ship, registered under IMO 1060289 and scheduled for delivery to Carnival in spring 2027, is a sister ship to the already well-known and successful ships MARDI GRAS, CARNIVAL CELEBRATION, and CARNIVAL JUBILEE. With a length of 344 meters and a gross tonnage of approximately 180,000 tons, she will accommodate more than 6,400 guests.
Vorausgegangen war ein unplanmäßiger Werft-Wechsel von Cádiz nach Marseille
Marseille/Miami – Das Kreuzfahrtschiff CARNIVAL LIBERTY hat am 30. Juni die Werft Chantier Naval de Marseille verlassen und bereitet sich darauf vor, am 6. Juli ihren regulären Dienst mit Reisen in die westliche Karibik wieder aufzunehmen. Der Werftaufenthalt des Schiffes war von einer unvorhergesehenen Planänderung aufgrund eines Streiks geprägt.
Ursprünglich war die CARNIVAL LIBERTY für umfangreiche Klasse-Arbeiten, technische Wartung und umfassende Aufwertungen der Passagierbereiche sowie Kabinen auf der Navantia Cádiz Werft in Spanien eingeplant. Ein dort ausgebrochener Streik machte jedoch einen zügigen Fortgang der Arbeiten unmöglich.
Infolgedessen wurde das Schiff von Cádiz abgezogen und stattdessen zur Chantier Naval de Marseille in Frankreich verlegt. Dort konnten die notwendigen Arbeiten wie geplant fortgesetzt und nun abgeschlossen werden. Die schnelle Reaktion und Verlegung ermöglichte es, größere Verzögerungen für die kommenden Fahrpläne zu vermeiden.
Passagiere können sich auf ein frisch gewartetes und in Teilen erneuertes Schiff freuen, wenn die CARNIVAL LIBERTY am Sonntag, dem 6. Juli, von ihrem Heimathafen aus wieder Kurs auf die westliche Karibik nimmt.
Preceded by an unscheduled shipyard change from Cádiz to Marseille
Marseille/Miami – The cruise ship CARNIVAL LIBERTY departed the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard on June 30 and is preparing to resume regular service with voyages to the Western Caribbean on July 6. The ship’s stay in the shipyard was marked by an unforeseen change of plans due to a strike.
The CARNIVAL LIBERTY was originally scheduled for extensive class work, technical maintenance, and comprehensive upgrades to the passenger areas and cabins at the Navantia Cádiz shipyard in Spain. However, a strike that broke out there made rapid progress impossible.
As a result, the ship was withdrawn from Cádiz and instead transferred to the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard in France. There, the necessary work continued as planned and has now been completed. The quick response and transfer made it possible to avoid major delays to upcoming schedules.
Passengers can look forward to a freshly serviced and partially renewed ship when the CARNIVAL LIBERTY sets sail for the Western Caribbean from her home port on Sunday, July 6.
Das Kreuzfahrtschiff CARNIVAL VALOR (IMO 9236389) hat seinen Werft-Aufenthalt auf der Werft Navantia im spanischen Cádiz beendet.
Im Rahmen ihres routinemäßigen Trockendockaufenthalts in Spanien wurde die CARNIVAL VALOR technischen Arbeiten sowie Klasseninspektionen und allgemeinen Wartungsarbeiten unterzogen. Auch die öffentlichen Bereiche sowie Kabinen wurden instand gehalten
Wie bereits auf anderen Carnival-Schiffen wurde auch auf der CARNIVAL VALOR eine neue Heroes Tribute Bar und Lounge eingerichtet. Der militärisch gestaltete Bereich, der derzeit in die Flotte des Unternehmens integriert wird, ist eine Hommage an die Opfer der Angehörigen der Streitkräfte und ihrer Familien. Die Lounge befindet sich im Bereich der ehemaligen Skybox Sports Bar und bietet ein spezielles Menü. Ein Teil der Einnahmen wird an humanitäre Organisationen gespendet.
Die CARNIVAL VALOR befindet sich inzwischen auf einer Transatlantik-Kreuzfahrt mit Zielhafen New Orleans. Auf der Navantia-Werft wurde sie von der CARNIVAL LIBERTY (IMO 9278181) abgelöst.

During her routine dry dock stay in Spain, the CARNIVAL VALOR underwent technical work, class inspections, and general maintenance.
The public areas and cabins were also serviced.
As already done on other Carnival ships, a new Heroes Tribute Bar and Lounge has been installed on the CARNIVAL VALOR. The military-themed area, which is currently being integrated into the company’s fleet, is a tribute to the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and their families. The lounge is located in the former Skybox Sports Bar area and offers a special menu. Portions of the profits will be donated to humanitarian organizations.
The CARNIVAL VALOR is currently on a transatlantic cruise to New Orleans. At the Navantia shipyard, she was replaced by the CARNIVAL LIBERTY (IMO 9278181).

Zu den weiteren Modernisierungen gehören ein neu gestalteter Minigolfplatz sowie ein Nachtclub. Die Bereiche für Kinder und Teenager wie Camp Ocean und Club O2 wurden ebenfalls mit helleren Innenräumen und neuen Annehmlichkeiten renoviert.
Das Schiff nahm am 11. Mai seinen Dienst wieder auf und nahm seine ersten Gäste in Lissabon an Bord.
The CARNIVAL MIRACLE has returned from a multi-day shipyard stay in Cádiz, Spain. The work on board included numerous upgrades.
These include the opening of the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, a new Carnival Adventures Shop, and a modernized space for planning and booking shore excursions.
In addition, a new Dreams Studio has been opened; it offers a refreshing backdrop for professional photo sessions. Several public areas, including the Cloud 9 Spa, the adults-only Serenity Retreat, Club O2, the Java Blue Café, and the Lido Marketplace, have been refreshed with a modern design.
Other upgrades include a redesigned mini-golf course and a nightclub. The children’s and teen areas, such as Camp Ocean and Club O2, have also been renovated with brighter interiors and new amenities.
The ship resumed service on May 11 and welcomed its first guests in Lisbon, Portugal.
Carnival Cruise Line lässt auf der Meyer-Werft zwei weitere Schiffe der Excel-Klasse bauen. In Anlehnung zweier Kreuzfahrtschiffe aus der Anfangszeit von Carnival Cruise Line werden diese beiden Neubauten CARNIVAL FESTIVALE und CARNIVAL TROPICALE heißen.
Die CARNIVAL TROPICALE soll bis Frühjahr 2027 auf der Meyer-Werft fertiggestellt werden, die CARNIVAL TROPICALE soll ein Jahr später folgen.
Besonderheit an Bord dieser beiden neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffe wird der sogenannte Sunsation Point, ein Outdoor-Bereich auf den oberen Decks. Auf Deck 18 wird dort mit den Carnival Waterworks Ultra ein familienfreundlicher Wasserpark entstehen. Dieser ersetzt die Achterbahn, die sich dort auf den derzeitigen Excel-Klasse-Schiffen von Carnival Cruise Line befinden.
CARNIVAL FESTIVALE and CARNIVAL TROPICALE: first details
Carnival Cruise Line is having two more Excel-class ships constructed at the Meyer shipyard. Inspired by two cruise ships from Carnival Cruise Line’s early days, these two new ships will be named CARNIVAL FESTIVALE and CARNIVAL TROPICALE.
The CARNIVAL TROPICALE is scheduled to be completed at the Meyer Werft shipyard by spring 2027, with the CARNIVAL TROPICALE following a year later.
A special feature on board these two new cruise ships will be the so-called Sunsation Point, an outdoor area on the upper decks. On deck 18, a family-friendly water park called Carnival Waterworks Ultra will be built. This will replace the roller coaster found there on Carnival Cruise Line’s current Excel-class ships.

Die italienische Werften-Gruppe Fincantieri erhält von Carnival Cruise Line einen Auftrag zum Bau von drei neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffen. Die Schiffe sollen jeweils mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 230.000 vermessen sein. Damit werden sie die größten je in Italien gebauten Schiffe. Mit 3.000 Gäste-Kabinen sollen die Schiffe für jeweils nahezu 8.000 Passagiere ausgelegt sein. Die Schiffe sollen mit LNG betrieben werden. Auslieferung ist für 2029, 2031 und 2033 geplant.
Carnival ordering 3 new Mega Liners
The Italian shipyard group Fincantieri has received an order from Carnival Cruise Line to build three new cruise ships. The ships will each have a gross tonnage of 230,000. This will make them the largest ships ever built in Italy. With 3,000 guest cabins, the ships will be designed for almost 8,000 passengers each. The ships will be powered by LNG. Delivery is planned for 2029, 2031 and 2033
P&O Australia wird aufgelöst – Was aus den Schiffen wird
Die Carnival Corporation hat angekündigt, dass die Marke P&O Cruises Australia im März 2025 aufgelöst wird.
Zwei Schiffe der Flotte, die PACIFIC ENCOUNTER (ex STAR PRINCESS, IMO 9192363) und die PACIFIC ADVENTURE (ex GOLDEN PRINCESS, IMO 9192351) werden in die Flotte der Carnival Cruise Line integriert. Namen und Rumpfbemalung werden entsprechend angepasst. Das dritte Schiff, die PACIFIC EXPLORER (ex DAWN PRINCESS, IMO 9103996) wird die Flotte der Carnival-Gruppe im Februar 2025 verlassen.

Restructuring at Carnival – P&O Australia will be terminated
The Carnival Corporation has announced that the P&O Cruises Australia brand will be terminated in March 2025.
Two ships in the fleet, the PACIFIC ENCOUNTER (ex STAR PRINCESS, IMO 9192363) and the PACIFIC ADVENTURE (ex GOLDEN PRINCESS, IMO 9192351) will be integrated into the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. The names and hull artwork will be adjusted accordingly. The third ship, the PACIFIC EXPLORER (ex DAWN PRINCESS, IMO 9103996) will leave the Carnival Group fleet in February 2025.
The measures are being taken to increase profits. Carnival Cruise Line is the most profitable brand within the Carnival Group. Accordingly, more ships will be integrated into this fleet.
