Am 15. Januar 2026 wurde in Miami das Kreuzfahrtschiff STAR SEEKER (IMO 9904819), jüngstes Flottenmitglied von Windstar Cruises, getauft. Taufpatin war Libby Anschutz, Tochter des Eigners von Windstar Cruises Phil Anschutz. Sie taufte die STAR SEEKER in traditioneller Weise mit einer Flasche Champagner, die sie am Bug des Schiffs zerschellen ließ.
Im Anschluss an die Taufe startete die STAR SEEKER zu einer achttägigen Kreuzfahrt von Miami nach San Juan mit Stopps in der Dominikanischen Republik und auf den British Virgin Islands.
Die STAR SEEKER ist ausgelegt für 224 Passagiere in 112 Kabinen. Sie ist das fünfte Schiff der Explorer-Klasse.
On January 15, 2026, the cruise ship STAR SEEKER (IMO 9904819), the newest member of the Windstar Cruises fleet, was christened in Miami. Godmother Libby Anschutz, daughter of Windstar Cruises owner Phil Anschutz, christened the ship in the traditional manner by smashing a bottle of champagne against its bow.
Following the naming ceremony, the STAR SEEKER started to an eight-day cruise from Miami to San Juan, with stops in the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands.
The STAR SEEKER is designed for 224 passengers in 112 cabins. She is the fifth ship in the Explorer class.

Das Kreuzfahrtschiff mit einer Länge von 119,88 Metern und einer Vermessung von 9.923 gross tons ist das fünfte Schiff der Explorer-Klasse. Die ersten vier Schiffe dieser Reihe waren für die portugiesische Reederei Mystic Cruises gebaut worden.
Ende 2026 soll für Windstar Cruises mit der STAR EXPLORER ein zweites Schiff dieser Reihe fertiggestellt werden.
WestSEA Shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, delivered the STAR SEEKER (IMO 9904819) to Windstar Cruises on December 15. The cruise ship, measuring 119.88 meters in length and with a gross tonnage of 9,923, is the fifth ship in the Explorer class. The first four ships in this series were built for the Portuguese shipping company Mystic Cruises.
A further ship in this series, the STAR EXPLORER, is scheduled for completion for Windstar Cruises at the end of 2026.
Kürzlich wurde im argentinischen Ushuaia die WORLD VOYAGER getauft und damit offiziell in die Flotte der Atlas Ocean Voyages aufgenommen.
Die Taufpatin
Taufpatin war British Army Captain Harpreet „Preet“ Kaur Chandi MBE. Sie wurde bekannt durch einige herausragende Polar-Expeditionen, die sich unternommen hat. Das war zum Beispiel von November 2021 bis Januar 2022 eine Solo-Expedition zum Südpol, bei der sie bei Temperaturen um -50ºC ca. 1100 Kilometer in 40 Tage zurücklegte und dabei noch einen 90 kg schweren Schlitten hinter sich her zog. 2023 schaffte sie die längste Solo-Polar-Expedition einer Frau. Somit war sie eine hervorragende Wahl als Taufpatin für ein Expeditions-Kreuzfahrtschiff der Explorer-Klasse.
Die Explorer-Klasse
Die WORLD VOYAGER (IMO 9871529) ist eines von vier Schiffen der Explorer-Klasse, die bei West Sea Estaleiros Navals im portugiesischen Viana do Castelo für die portugiesische Reederei Mystic Cruises gebaut wurden. Ein fünftes Schiff, die WORLD SEEKER (IMO 9904819) befindet sich dort im Bau, zwei weitere Schiffe der Explorer-Klasse, die WORLD ADVENTURER (IMO 9904912) und WORLD DISCOVERER (IMO 9904924) sind in Planung.

The WORLD VOYAGER was recently christened in Ushuaia, Argentina, officially joining the Atlas Ocean Voyages fleet.
The godmother
Godmother was British Army Captain Harpreet “Preet” Kaur Chandi MBE. She became known for her outstanding polar expeditions. For example, that was a solo expedition to the South Pole from November 2021 to January 2022, during which she made around 1,100 kilometers in 40 days at temperatures of around -50ºC, pulling a sledge weighing 90 kg behind her. In 2023 she completed the longest solo polar expedition by a woman. This made her an excellent choice as godmother for an Explorer Class expedition cruise ship.
The Explorer class
The WORLD VOYAGER (IMO 9871529) is one of four Explorer class ships built at West Sea Estaleiros Navals in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, for the Portuguese shipping company Mystic Cruises. A fifth ship, the WORLD SEEKER (IMO 9904819) is under construction there, and two more Explorer class ships, the WORLD ADVENTURER (IMO 9904912) and WORLD DISCOVERER (IMO 9904924) are being planned.
Auf der West Sea Shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, wurde offiziell mit dem Bau der WORLD SEEKER (IMO 9904819), dem fünften Schiff der Explorer-Klasse für Mystic Cruises, begonnen. Fertigstellung des für 200 Passagiere ausgelegten Expeditions-Kreuzfahrtschiff ist für 2025 vorgesehen. Wahrscheinlich wird es dann für Atlas Ocean Voyages fahren.

Fifth Explorer class ship
Construction of WORLD SEEKER (IMO 9904819), the fifth Explorer Class ship for Mystic Cruises, has officially started on West Sea Shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. The expedition cruise ship, designed for 200 passengers, is scheduled for completion in 2025. She will probably then sail for Atlas Ocean Voyages.
