Following the closure of the Chinese cruise line Blue Dream Cruises, two German-built cruise ships are now for sale. These are the BLUE DREAM MELODY (IMO 9221554), formerly AIDAvita, and the BLUE DREAM STAR (IMO 9183518), formerly OLYMPIC EXPLORER.
The AIDAvita was built in 2000/2001 at Aker MTW in Wismar for AIDA Cruises.
The OLYMPIC EXPLORER was built between 1999 and 2001 at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg for the Greek shipping company Royal Olympic Cruises. It is the last passenger ship built by Blohm + Voss.
Blue Dream Cruises ceased operations after encountering financial difficulties. Salaries for crew members and shore-based employees, as well as fuel bills, went unpaid. The BLUE DREAM MELODY was arrested in Beihai harbor in February this year by order of the Beihai Maritime Court due to an unpaid fuel bill of approximately US$599,000. The ship remains under arrest.

Die OLYMPIC EXPLORER wurde 1999 bis 2001 bei Blohm + Voss in Hamburg für die griechische Reederei Royal Olympic Cruises gebaut. Sie ist das letzte bei Blohm + Voss gebaute Passagierschiff.
Blue Dream Cruises hat den Betrieb eingestellt, nachdem die Gesellschaft in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten geraten war. Gehälter für Crew-Mitglieder und Angestellte an Land ebenso wie Treibstoff-Rechnungen wurden nicht bezahlt. Die BLUE DREAM MELODY wurde im Februar dieses Jahres im Hafen von Beihai auf Anordnung des Seegerichts Beihai wegen einer unbezahlten Treibstoffrechnung in Höhe von etwa 599.000 US-Dollar festgesetzt. Das Schiff befindet sich weiterhin unter Arrest.
Blue Dream Cruises Flotte: Zwei in Deutschland gebaute Schiffe gleichen Alters
Seit 24. Januar 2024 befindet sich die BLUE DREAM MELODY auf ihrer Reise nach China. Bei dem Kreuzfahrtschiff handelt es sich um die ehemalige AIDAvita (IMO 9221554), gebaut bis 2002 bei Aker MTW in Wismar. Das Schiff war zuletzt für Beta Marine registriert und hatte in Tallinn, Estland, aufgelegen. Der 202,85 Meter lange Cruise Liner wird die flotte der chinesischen Blue Dream Cruises ergänzen.
Blue Dream Cruises betrieben bisher mit der BLUE DREAM STAR (IMO 9183518) nur ein einziges Kreuzfahrtschiff. Die BLUE DREAM STAR wurde übrigens ebenfalls bis 2002 in Deutschland gebaut, nämlich bei Blohm + Voss in Hamburg als OLYMPIA EXPLORER für die griechischen Royal Olympic Cruises. Sie wurde am 25. April 2002 an die Reederei übergeben, genau 5 Tage, bevor die AIDAvita in Wismar an ihre Eigner übergeben wurde. Die BLUE DREAM STAR ex OLYMPIA EXPLORER ist übrigens das bisher letzte bei Blohm + Voss gebaute Passagierschiff.

Blue Dream Cruises fleet: now 2 ships of the same age built in Germany
The BLUE DREAM MELODY is on her journey to China since January 24, 2024. The cruise ship is the former AIDAvita (IMO 9221554), built by Aker MTW in Wismar until 2002. The ship was last registered for Beta Marine and was laid up in Tallinn, Estonia. The 202.85 meter long cruise liner will complement the Chinese Blue Dream Cruises fleet.
To date, Blue Dream Cruises has only operated a single cruise ship, the BLUE DREAM STAR (IMO 9183518). Incidentally, the BLUE DREAM STAR was also built in Germany until 2002, namely at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg as the OLYMPIA EXPLORER for Royal Olympic Cruises. She was handed over to the shipping company on April 25, 2002, exactly 5 days before the AIDAvita was handed over to her owners in Wismar. The BLUE DREAM STAR ex OLYMPIA EXPLORER is the last passenger ship built by Blohm + Voss to date.
