Produktion wie am Fließband – Fünftes X-Bow-Kreuzfahrtschiff für SunStone Ships

Die US-amerikanischen SunStone Ships lassen in China innovative Expeditionskreuzfahrtschiffe der Infinity-Klasse mit X-Bow bauen, und da geht es Schlag auf Schlag:

Nach der 2019 fertig gestellten GREG MORTIMER (IMO 9834648) folgte im Juli 2021 die OCEAN EXPLORER (IMO 9883194) sowie im Oktober 2021 die OCEAN VICTORY (IMO 9868869), der in diesem Jahr auch noch die SYLVIA EARLE (IMO 9872327) folgen soll.

Am 9. November 2021 ist nun bereits das fünfte Schiff der Infinity-Klasse bei China Merchants Heavy Industries in Haimen vom Stapel gelaufen: die OCEAN ODYSSEY (IMO 9880673). Diese ist ebenso wie die bereits ausgelieferte OCEAN EXPLORER für den Charterer Vantage Travel vorgesehen und soll im ersten Quartal 2022 abgeliefert werden.

Die weiteren in Bau befindlichen Schiffe dieser Klasse sind die OCEAN ALBATROS und OCEAN DISCOVERER.

Fifth X-Bow cruise ship for SunStone Ships

US-based SunStone Ships are having innovative Infinity class expedition cruise ships with X-Bow built in China, and things are happening in quick succession: The GREG MORTIMER (IMO 9834648), which was completed in 2019, was followed by the OCEAN EXPLORER (IMO 9883194) in July 2021 and the OCEAN VICTORY (IMO 9868869) in October 2021, which will also be followed this year by the SYLVIA EARLE (IMO 9872327).

On November 9, 2021, the fifth Infinity class ship was already launched at China Merchants Heavy Industries in Haimen: the OCEAN ODYSSEY (IMO 9880673). Like the OCEAN EXPLORER that has already been delivered, she is intended for the charterer Vantage Travel and is scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter 2022. The further ships of this class currently under construction are the OCEAN ALBATROS and OCEAN DISCOVERER.

OCEAN VICTORY und OCEAN EXPLORER haben Probefahrten absolviert

Außergewöhnliche X-Bow-Schiffe vor der Ablieferung

Die neuen Schiffe der Infinity-Klasse, die OCEAN VICTORY und OCEAN EXPLORER, waren am 5. Januar zu ihren Probefahrten aufgebrochen. Mit an Bord waren Mitarbeiter der Werft, der Klassifizierungsgesellschaft Bureau Veritas sowie Marine Advisors von SunStone. Die in China gebauten Schiffe der Infinity-Klasse sin 104 Meter lang und haben den innovativen, Treibstoff-sparenden und Schlingerbewegung-reduzierenden X-Bow. Weitere technische Merkmale sind ein Dynamic Positioning System sowie Zero Speed Stabilizers. Die Schiffe sind für 130 bis 200 Passagiere bei einer Besatzungszahl zwischen 85 und 115 ausgelegt. Das erste Schiff dieser Klasse ist die GREG MORTIMER, die im Frühjahr 2020 die Aufmerksamkeit erregte.

2021 soll neben der OCEAN VICTORY und OCEAN EXPLORER auch die SYLVIA EARLE abgeliefert werden. 2022 sollen die OCEAN ODYSSEY und OCEAN ALBATROS folgen und 2023 schließlich die OCEAN DISCOVERER.

OCEAN VICTORY and OCEAN EXPLORER have completed sea trials

Extraordinary X-Bow ships soon to be delivered

The new Infinity class ships, the OCEAN VICTORY and OCEAN EXPLORER, had started their sea trials on January 5th. On board were employees from the shipyard, the classification society Bureau Veritas and marine advisors from SunStone. The China-built Infinity class ships are 104 meters long and have the innovative, fuel-saving and rolling motion-reducing X-Bow. Further technical features are a dynamic positioning system and zero speed stabilizers. The ships are designed for 130 to 200 passengers with a crew capacity of between 85 and 115. The first ship of this class is the GREG MORTIMER, which attracted attention in spring 2020.

In addition to the OCEAN VICTORY and OCEAN EXPLORER, the SYLVIA EARLE will also be delivered in 2021. The OCEAN ODYSSEY and OCEAN ALBATROS are to follow in 2022 and finally the OCEAN DISCOVERER in 2023.
