Die STAR PRINCESS wird das zweite Kreuzfahrtschiff dieser Baureihe. Beide Schiffe erhalten einen LNG-Antrieb.
Während die SUN PRINCESS im ersten Quartal 2024 abgeliefert werden soll, ist die Ablieferung der STAR PRINCESS für den Sommer 2025 geplant. Ihre erste Reise soll am 4. The series of Sphere-class cruise ships for Princess Cruises will be continued. The SUN PRINCESS, currently under construction by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, is the largest ship ever built in Italy with 175,500 gross tons and a passenger capacity of 4,300. The STAR PRINCESS will be the second cruise ship in this series. Both ships will be powered by LNG.
While the SUN PRINCESS is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2024, the STAR PRINCESS will be delivered in summer of 2025. Her first voyage is scheduled to begin on August 4, 2025 in Civitavecchia and head to the Aegean Sea. Further 9- and 10-night cruises from Civitavecchia, Athens and Trieste to follow.

The SUN PRINCESS, the largest ship ever built in Italy (according to the shipyard), floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone. She is also the first LNG-powered cruise ship to be built by Fincantieri.
The SUN PRINCESS is the first Sphere-class ship for Princess Cruises and is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2024. The cruise ship, measured at 175,500 gross tons, will accommodate up to 4,300 passengers.

Neu in der Küche ist ein professioneller Ofen mit offener Mündung, der 968 Grad erreicht und es den Köchen ermöglicht, wirklich authentische, zeitgenössische neapolitanische Pizza zuzubereiten.
Princess Casino – Das größte Princess Casino in Größe und Anzahl der Plätze wird sich auf der Piazza befinden und den Gästen einfachen Zugang zu ihren Lieblingswettspielen bieten. Fincantieri is currently constructing the largest cruise ship ever built for Princess Cruises, with space for 4,000 guests.
Interiors will be designed around Mediterranean themes, with a redesigned iconic piazza and the Dome, a state-of-the-art entertainment space inspired by the terraces of Santorini.
The Horizons Dining Room will feature a three-story dining area. This reimagined space is open and flexible, with dining options to suit every mood. Breathtaking views of the wake and natural light will highlight a decorative sculpture that extends from Deck 6 to Deck 8. The three decks each have their own personality, offer different dining experiences and vary in dress code.
Contemporary and versatile, the Princess Arena will be Princess Cruises‘ most technologically advanced theater design. Upon entering, guests‘ eyes are drawn to a stunning image above the central stage that can become part of the show. Gently curved walls are intended to allude to the movement of the tides. The theater will seat 1000 guests.

A geometric design will also feature a noodle room where guests can marvel at the noodle making process. The restaurant is designed with intimate bistro-style corners and a circular main room.
Princess live! – Here the design elements of Princess Live! and the Explorer’s Lounge, popular with guests will be combined. Join-in cruise activities include game shows and a daily wake show. The area is characterized by an inviting semi-open facade and a large LED screen on the stage. Guests can easily walk over to a nearby restaurant or cocktail lounge.
The Shops of Princess – With five shops and an art gallery, The Shops of Princess is getting a makeover on the SUN PRINCESS, and guests can expect the same great experience as on the other Princess cruise ships, only more of it. Modern, elegant boutiques connect seamlessly and offer interactive experiences. Guests can conveniently shop from room to room. These include Princess logo merchandise, a lifestyle boutique, a new bazaar with site-specific offerings, as well as jewellery, watches, cosmetic fragrances and a contemporary art gallery.

She will be the first LNG-powered vessel in the Princess fleet, offering space for up to 4,300 passengers in 2,150 guest cabins on 21 decks, including 1,500 balcony cabins. 29 bars and restaurants will be available to guests on board.
Highlights on board will include the Piazza and The Dome. The latter is a covered pool area that transforms into an extraordinary stage and entertainment venue in the evening.
With the Signature Collection an exclusive suites area with exclusive access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge and Signature Sun Deck, a private area of the Sanctuary, will be introduced.

Naming Ceremony for DISCOVERY PRINCESS
On April 29th, the DISCOVERY PRINCESS was christened in an imaginative ceremony in the port of Los Angeles. Four television stars and show hosts appeared as godparents together: fashion designer Randy Fenoli, chef Alex Guarnaschelli, special effects designer and producer Adam Savage, and real estate agent and flipper extraordinaire Page Turner. In the presence of Captain Gennaro Arma, they sent a huge bottle of champagne towards the ship’s hull, officially christening the Discovery Princess and welcoming her to the Princess Cruises fleet.
Built at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy, the 3,660-guest Discovery Princess is the sixth and final newbuild of the Royal Class. Her sister ships are the Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess.
The DISCOVERY PRINCESS will offer in her first summer season seven-day Alaskan cruises from Seattle.

On January 28, 2022, Princess Cruises took delivery of their DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) from the shipyard Fincantieri in Monfalcone. The DISCOVERY PRINCESS is the sixth and final Royal Class cruise ship. She has a gross tonnage of 145,281 and can accommodate 3,660 passengers.
The new cruise liner will soon set course for the US West Coast to cruise from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera. In the summer of this year, the DISCOVERY PRINCESS will then be used for seven-day cruises from Seattle to Alaska.

The DISCOVERY PRINCESS (IMO 9837468) has just returned from her five-day sea trials to the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Before the cruise ship will be delivered to Princess Cruises, there is still some remaining work to be done on board.
The ship, designed for 3,660 passengers, is the sixth and last Royal Class ship for Princess Cruises. It is planned to use the Cruise Liner from the end of March 2022 for cruises along the US west coast to the Mexican Riviera and from the end of April for 7-day cruises from Seattle to Alaska.

The DISCOVERY PRINCESS has been floated out at Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy. She is the sixth Royal Class ship for Princess Cruises. The interior fitting phase has now begun. The cruise ship, measured at 145,000 gross tons, is to be delivered to Princess Cruises in 2022.
After the DISCOVERY PRINCESS, Princess Cruises will have two more cruise ships built by Fincantieri, each of which will be significantly larger with a measurement of 175,000 gross tons and a passenger capacity of around 4,300 and will then also be equipped with dual fuel propulsion to be operated mainly with LNG.

Bei der KARNIKA (IMO 8521220) handelt es sich um die ehemalige CROWN PRINCESS der Princess Cruises, gebaut bei Fincantieri in Monfalcone. Die späteren Namen des Schiffs waren A’ROSA BLU, AIDAblu, OCEAN VILLAGE TWO und PACIFIC JEWEL. Seit 2019 bis zum Ausbruch der Pandemie in diesem Jahr wurde die KANRIKA für Kreuzfahrten für den indischen Markt ab Mumbai, Goa und Dubai eingesetzt. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff ist 245,08 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 70.310 vermessen. Sie ist ein Schwesterschiff der PACIFIC DAWN (IMO 8521232), die in diesen Stunden an Ocean Builders übergeben werden soll, die daraus das „Crypto Cruise Ship“ SATOSHI machen wollen.
Die KARNIKA soll nach Alang zum Verschrotten gebracht werden. Vor zwei Jahren war auch einmal angedacht worden, aus dem Schiff ein Cartoon-Kreuzfahrtschiff zu machen.

Just recently, the Indian Jalesh Cruises announced that they would completely stop their cruise operations due to the ongoing pandemic. The company has now sold its only cruise ship, the KARNIKA, for US $ 5 million. According to reports, the buyer will have the ship scrapped.

Abgeliefert inmitten der Corona-Pandemie, betonen Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft und Werft, dass die ENCHANTED PRINCESS als erstes Schiff bei Princess Cruises mit einem Advanced Air Quality System ausgestattet ist.
Die ENCHANTED PRINCESS (IMO 9807126) ist bereits das 18. Kreuzfahrtschiff, das Fincantieri für Princess Cruises gebaut hat. Sie ist mit 145.000 gross tons vermessen und bietet Platz für 4.610 Passagiere in 1.830 Kabinen. Als fünftes Schiff der Royal Class folgt sie der ROYAL PRINCESS, REGAL PRINCESS, MAJESTIC PRINCESS und SKY PRINCESS.

Fincantieri delivered ENCHANTED PRINCESS
5th Royal class ship delivered
With the ENCHANTED PRINCESS, the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone has handed over the fifth royal class ship to Princess Cruises, which belongs to the Carnival group.
Delivered in the midst of the corona pandemic, the cruise line and shipyard emphasize that the ENCHANTED PRINCESS is the first Princess Cruises ship to be equipped with an Advanced Air Quality System.
The ENCHANTED PRINCESS (IMO 9807126) is already the 18th cruise ship that Fincantieri has built for Princess Cruises. It is measured at 145,000 tons and offers space for 4,610 passengers in 1,830 cabins. As the fifth ship in the Royal Class, she follows the ROYAL PRINCESS, REGAL PRINCESS, MAJESTIC PRINCESS and SKY PRINCESS.
The sixth ship in this class will be the DISCOVERY PRINCESS. Delivery is planned for 2021.
Ganz allmählich wird die Produktion auf den Werften wieder
aufgenommen und damit der Kreuzfahrtschiffbau fortgesetzt.

Am 27. April wurde begonnen, die Produktion wieder aufzunehmen.
Losgehen sollte es zunächst mit Arbeiten an Bord sowie mit dem Bau von Kabinen.
Die Arbeit findet unter der Verwendung von Schutzausrüstung statt.
Fincantieri
Bereits am 20. April wurde auf allen italienischen
Standorten von Fincantieri die Arbeit wieder begonnen, um dann schrittweise
weiter hochgefahren zu werden. Von einem normalen Produktionsprozess wird jedoch
nicht vor Ende Mai / Anfang Juni ausgegangen.
MV-Werften
Die MV-Werften planen eine schrittweise Wiederaufnahme der
Produktion ab Anfang Mai. Dies betrifft die drei Werft-Standorte Wismar, Rostock
und Stralsund.
Meyer-Werft
Die Meyer-Werft hatte auf ihren beiden Standorten in
Papenburg und in Turku die Produktion zwar zurückgefahren, aber nicht
unterbrochen. Es wird unter höheren Sicherheitsvorkehrungen weitergearbeitet.
Alle Werften zusammengerechnet halten derzeit im Kreuzfahrtschiffbau
ein Auftragsvolumen von etwa 60 Milliarden US-Dollar. Das sind mehr als 100 Schiffe
innerhalb der nächsten 8 Jahre. Ob dieses Auftragsvolumen noch gehalten werden
kann, ist jedoch fraglich. Es wird befürchtet, dass Kreuzfahrtgesellschaften
einige Bestellungen stornieren werden.
20 Kreuzfahrtschiffe sollten 2020 abgeliefert werden, einige Schiffe wurden bereits fertiggestellt. Auf Grund der Corona-Krise verzögert sich jedoch die Ablieferung der weiteren Schiffe. Dazu gehören die IONA für P&O, die ENCHANTED PRINCESS für Princess Cruises, die Crystal Endeavor für Crystal Cruises, die MARDI GRAS für Carnival Cruise Line, die COSTA FIRENZE, die MSC VIRTUOSA sowie für Royal Caribbean die ODYSSEY OF THE SEAS.
Major shipyards starting work again
Production on the shipyards is gradually being resumed and
cruise ship construction is thus continued.

Production started again on April 27th. The first step was
to start working on board and building cabins. The work takes place using
protective equipment.
Fincantieri
Work was resumed on April 20 on all Fincantieri locations in
Italy, before increasing work process step by step. However, a normal
production process is not expected until late May / early June.
MV Yards
The MV shipyards in Germany are planning to gradually resume
production from the beginning of May. This affects the three shipyard locations
Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund.
Meyer shipyard
The Meyer shipyard had cut back production on its two
locations in Papenburg and Turku, but had not interrupted it. Work continues
under higher safety precautions.
All of the shipyards currently hold an order volume of
approximately $ 60 billion in cruise ship construction. That is more than 100
ships within the next 8 years. However, it is questionable whether this order
volume can still be maintained. It is feared that cruise lines will cancel several
orders.
20 cruise ships should be delivered in 2020, some ships have already been completed. However, due to the Corona crisis, the delivery of the other ships is delayed. hinziehen kann. Daher werden viele Besatzungsmitglieder nun per Schiff nach

Crew repatriation action by Carnival
A major repatriation action is currently
prepared at Carnival to bring crew members who are still on cruise ships home
by ship.
There are increasing signs that the pausing
of the ships will continue for longer due to the corona pandemic and can drag
on for months. Therefore, many crew members are now going to be repatriated by
ship, since most flight connections are known to be cut.
