Taufe in Fort Lauderdale

Am 1. Dezember 2023 wurde die CELEBRITY ASCENT in Fort Lauderdale getauft. Taufpatinnen waren die Schwestern Captain Sandy Yawn und Michelle Dunham. Captain Sandy Yawn ist Star der US-Fernsehsendung „Below Deck“; Michelle Dunham ist Gründerin der Jacksonville School for Autism. Die beiden Schwestern tauften die CELEBRITY ASCENT auf traditionelle Weise, indem sie eine Champagner-Flasche am Bug des Schiffs zerschellen ließen.

Mit dabei waren die griechischen Brüder Captain Dimitrios Kafetzis und Captain Tasos Kafetzis, die das Kommando über das Schiff haben.

Am 3. Dezember startete die CELEBRITY ASCENT, da vierte Schiff der Edge-Klasse, in ihre Auftakt-Saison mit eine 7-Nächte-Kreuzfahrt in die östliche Karibik mit Destinationen wie St. Maarten, St. Thomas und der Dominikanischen Republik.

Photo Gallery: CELEBRITY ASCENT Christened in Fort Lauderdale

On December 1, 2023, the CELEBRITY ASCENT was christened in Fort Lauderdale. The godmothers were the sisters Captain Sandy Yawn and Michelle Dunham. Captain Sandy Yawn is star of the US television show “Below Deck”; Michelle Dunham is the founder of the Jacksonville School for Autism. The two sisters christened the CELEBRITY ASCENT in the traditional way by smashing a champagne bottle on the bow of the ship. They were joined by the Greek brothers Captain Dimitrios Kafetzis and Captain Tasos Kafetzis, who are in command of the ship.

On December 3rd, CELEBRITY ASCENT, the fourth Edge class ship, started her inaugural season with a 7-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with destinations such as St. Maarten, St. Thomas and the Dominican Republic.

Viertes Schiff der Edge-Klasse abgeliefert

Bei Celebrity Cruises fällt ein Meilenstein auf den nächsten. Nach dem ersten Stahlschnitt für die CELEBRITY XCEL am 7. November auf den Chantiers de l’Atlantique hat die Werft just einen Tag später am 8. November das Schwesterschiff CELEBRITY ASCENT (IMO 9838400), Nr. 4 dieser Baureihe, abgeliefert.

Nach der Überführungsfahrt über den Atlantik wird die CELEBRITY ASCENT am 3. Dezember zu ihrer ersten Kreuzfahrt mit zahlenden Gästen aufbrechen. Start-Hafen ist Fort Lauderdale, Ziel ist die östliche Karibik. Bis Ende April 2024 bleibt die CELEBRITY ASCENT in Fort Lauderdale stationiert, bevor sie ins Mittelmeer wechselt, um Kreuzfahrten ab Barcelona und Civitavecchia aufzunehmen.

Celebrity Cruises took over their CELEBRITY ASCENT

Fourth Edge-class ship delivered

At Celebrity Cruises, one milestone follows the next. After the first steel cutting for the CELEBRITY XCEL on November 7th at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the shipyard delivered the sister ship CELEBRITY ASCENT (IMO 9838400), No. 4 of this series, just one day later on November 8th.

After the transatlantic crossing, the CELEBRITY ASCENT will set sail for her first cruise with paying guests on December 3rd. The starting port is Fort Lauderdale and the destination is the Eastern Caribbean. CELEBRITY ASCENT will remain based in Fort Lauderdale until the end of April 2024 before moving to the Mediterranean to begin cruises from Barcelona and Civitavecchia.

Offizieller Baubeginn für das fünfte Schiff der Edge-Klasse für Celebrity Cruises: Auf den Chantiers de l’Atlantique im französischen Saint Nazaire wurde am 7. November 2023 der erste Stahlschnitt für CELEBRITY XCEL gefeiert. An der Zeremonie nahmen Vertreter der Royal Caribbean-Gruppe sowie der Werft teil.

Celebrity Cruises versprechen einige Neuheiten an Bord der CELEBRITY XCEL, wobei beliebte Features wie u.a. der Magic Carpet, The Retreat und der Rooftop Garden sich ebenfalls an Bord wiederfinden werden.

Ablieferung des fünften Edge-Klasse-Kreuzfahrtschiffs ist für 2025 vorgesehen, erste Reisen sollen ab November 2025 stattfinden. Basis-Hafen wird dann Fort Lauderdale sein

Fifth ship Edge class ship

Official start of construction for the fifth Edge class ship for Celebrity Cruises: The first steel cutting for CELEBRITY XCEL was celebrated on November 7, 2023 at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Royal Caribbean group and the shipyard.

Celebrity Cruises are promising some new features on board the CELEBRITY XCEL, with popular features such as the Magic Carpet, The Retreat and the Rooftop Garden also being on board.

Delivery of the fifth Edge class cruise ship is scheduled for 2025, with the first voyages scheduled to take place from November 2025. The base port will then be Fort Lauderdale

Viertes Schiff der Edge-Klasse vor der Ablieferung

Die derzeit auf den Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire in Bau befindliche CELEBRITY ASCENT ist von ihren Probefahrten zurückgekehrt. Die Tests, die in der Biskaya durchgeführt wurden, wurden von den beiden Kapitänen, den Brüdern Demetrios und Tasos Kafetzis, überwacht.

Die CELEBRITY ASCENT (IMO 9838400) ist das vierte Schiff der Edge-Klasse. Sie soll noch in diesem Jahr an Celebrity Cruises übergeben werden, um bereits am 22. November 2023 eine 4-Nächte-Preview-Reise in die Karibik ab Port Everglades sowie eine 3-Nächte-Preview-Reise zu den Bahamas ab 26. November durchzuführen

CELEBRITY ASCENT, currently under construction by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France, just returned from her sea trials. The tests carried out in the Bay of Biscay were supervised by the two captains, the brothers Demetrios and Tasos Kafetzis.

The CELEBRITY ASCENT (IMO 9838400) is the fourth Edge class cruise ship. She is scheduled to be handed over to Celebrity Cruises later this year in order to conduct a 4-night preview voyage to the Caribbean from Port Everglades already on November 22nd, 2023 and a 3-night preview voyage to the Bahamas from November 26th.

Meilenstein für viertes Schiff der Edge-Klasse

Am 21. Januar ist auf den Chantiers de l’Atlantique im französischen Saint Nazaire das vierte Schiff der Edge-Klasse aufgeschwommen. Die CELEBRITY ASCENT (IMO 9838400) wird ein nahezu baugleiches Schiff wie die 2022 in Dienst gestellte CELEBRITY BEYOND (IMO 9838395). Sie wird damit etwa 326 Meter lang bei einer Vermessung von etwa 141.400 gross tons. Sie soll bis Ende 2023 fertiggestellt werden.

Herausragendes Feature der Edge-Klassse von Celebrity Cruises ist der seitlich des Schiffs als „schwebende“ Plattform angebrachte „Magic Carpet“.

Milestone for fourth Edge class ship

On January 21st, the fourth ship of the Edge class floated out on the shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France. The CELEBRITY ASCENT (IMO 9838400) will be almost identical in construction to the CELEBRITY BEYOND (IMO 9838395), which was commissioned in 2022. She will be about 326 meters long with a measurement of about 141,400 gross tons. She is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.

The outstanding feature of Celebrity Cruises‘ Edge Class is the „Magic Carpet“ attached to the side of the ship as a „floating“ platform.

Ausnahme-Talent Simone Biles war Taufpatin in Fort Lauderdale

Am 4. November wurde die CELEBRITY BEYOND in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, feierlich getauft. Taufpatin war Simone Biles, 19fache Weltmeisterin und siebenfache Olympia-Siegerin im Turnen.

„Simone Biles ist wirklich die G.O.A.T.¹ innerhalb sowie außerhalb der Turnhalle“, sagte Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, Präsidentin und CEO von Celebrity Cruises. In einer feierlichen Zeremonie mit 2.500 geladenen Gästen taufte Simone Biles die CELEBRITY BEYOND.

Nach der Taufe nahm das dritte Schiff der Edge-Klasse seine Auftakt-Saison in den USA mit Kreuzfahrten ab Fort Lauderdale auf.

Exceptional talent Simone Biles was godmother in Fort Lauderdale

On November 4th, the CELEBRITY BEYOND was christened in Fort Lauderdale, Miami. Godmother was Simone Biles, 19-time world champion and seven-time Olympic champion in gymnastics.

„Simone Biles truly is the G.O.A.T. in and out of the gym,“ said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. In a festive ceremony with 2,500 invited guests, Simone Biles christened the CELEBRITY BEYOND.

After the christening, the third Edge class cruise shiop began its inaugural season in the United States with cruises from Fort Lauderdale.

Ehemalige ZENITH wird in Alang verschrottet

Die ehemalige ZENITH (IMO 8918136), gebaut 1992 auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg, ist vor kurzem vor der indischen Küste bei Bhavnagar in der Nähe von Alang eingetroffen. Sie soll dort demnächst auf den Strand gesetzt werden, um dort verschrottet zu werden. Unter dem Namen TSM SINGAPORE hatte sie zuvor einige Wochen vor der omanischen Küste auf Warteposition gelegen.

Damit wird nun auch das zweite Schiff der Horizon-Klasse verschrottet. Ende August dieses Jahres war das Schwesterschiff, die HORIZON (IMO 8807088) im türkischen Aliaga zur Verschrottung eingetroffen.

Die HORIZON und ZENITH waren in Papenburg für Celebrity Cruises gebaut worden. Beide Schiffe sind 208 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von ca. 47.400 vermessen. Sie waren beide zuletzt für die spanischen Pullmantur Cruises, einer Tochter-Gesellschaft der Royal Caribbean Group,  im Einsatz gewesen. Die ZENITH war zwar 2019 noch an Peace Boat verchartert worden, war aber wegen der Corona-Pandemie nicht mehr für diese zum Einsatz gekommen.

Former ZENITH to be scrapped in Alang, India

The former ZENITH (IMO 8918136), built in 1992 by Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, recently arrived at Bhavnagar near Alang on the Indian coast. She will soon be beached there to be scrapped. Under the name TSM SINGAPORE she had previously been on hold off the Oman coast for a few weeks.

This means that the second Horizon class cruise ship is now also being scrapped. At the end of August this year, the sister ship, the HORIZON (IMO 8807088) already arrived in Aliaga, Türkiye, for scrapping.

The HORIZON and ZENITH were built in Papenburg for Celebrity Cruises. Both ships are 208 meters long and measured with a gross tonnage of approximately 47,400. They were both last deployed for the Spanish Pullmantur Cruises, a subsidiary of the Royal Caribbean Group. Though the ZENITH was chartered to Peace Boat in 2019, she never cam into service for them due to the corona pandemic.

Ehemaliger Celebrity Cruise Liner in Aliaga eingetroffen

Die 1988 bis 1990 auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg gebaute HORIZON (IMO 8867088) ist am Abend des 27. August unter dem Namen ORI vor dem türkischen Aliaga eingetroffen, wo sie in Kürze verschrottet werden soll. Ihre letzte Reise dort hin trat sie im Schlepp des Schleppers VERNICOS SIFNOS an. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff, zuletzt im Einsatz für Pullmantur Cruises, war 2020 während der Corona-Pandemie außer Dienst gestellt und aufgelegt worden.

Der 208 Meter lange und mit 47.427 gross tons vermessene Cruise Liner war seinerzeit für Celebrity Cruises gebaut worden. Von 2005 bis 2009 fuhr das Schiff unter dem Namen ISLAND STAR für Island Cruises, anschließend unter dem Namen PACIFIC DREAM für die Pullmantur-Tochtergesellschaft Croisières de France. 2010 wurde es zurückbenannt in HORIZON. 2017 wurde Croisières de France aufgelöst, und die HORIZON fuhr fortan für Pullmantur Cruises.

Former HORIZON to be scrapped

The HORIZON (IMO 8867088), built from 1988 to 1990 by Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, arrived at Aliaga, Türkiye, on the evening of August 27 under the name ORI.  Sie is going to be scrapped there shortly. The voyage to Aliaga was done in tow of the tugboat VERNICOS SIFNOS. The cruise ship, most recently used by Pullmantur Cruises, was decommissioned and laid up in 2020 during the corona pandemic.

The 208 meter long cruise liner, measured at 47,427 gross tons, was originally built for Celebrity Cruises. From 2005 to 2009 the ship sailed under the name ISLAND STAR for Island Cruises, then under the name PACIFIC DREAM for the Pullmantur subsidiary Croisières de France. In 2010 she was renamed HORIZON. Croisières de France was dissolved in 2017 and the HORIZON continued to sail for Pullmantur Cruises.

Es flogen buchstäblich die Funken, als Arbeiter der Chantiers de l’Atlantique eine zeremonielle Münze an einen massiven Andockblock aus Stahl schweißten, der den Kiel des Schiffes bildet, und damit offiziell den Baubeginn des vierten Schiffes der Edge-Serie von Celebrity Cruises markierten: CELEBRIY ASCENT (IMO 9838400).

Jason Liberty, Präsident und CEO der Royal Caribbean Group, der Muttergesellschaft von Celebrity Cruises, und Laurent Castaing, General Manager von Chantiers de l’Atlantique, platzierten die Münzen bei dieser altehrwürdigen maritimen Zeremonie.  Einer jahrhundertealten Tradition zufolge soll das Legen der Münze dem Schiff Segen und Glück bringen.

Die CELEBRIY ASCENT ist nach CELEBRITY EDGE, CELEBRITY APEX und CELEBRITY BEYOND das vierte Schiff der Edge-Serie der Linie, einer Schiffsklassen. Die Celebrity Ascent ist 17 Decks hoch und 20 Meter länger als die ursprüngliche Celebrity Edge und soll außerdem noch mehr Platz und noch mehr Luxus an Bord bieten.

CELEBRIY ASCENT soll erstmals am 3. Dezember 2023 in Port Everglades zu ihrer ersten Kreuzfahrt aufbrechen.  Die Auftakt-Saison verbringt die CELEBRIY ASCENT in der Karibik mit abwechselnden 7-tägigen Reiserouten in die Ost- und Westkaribik.

Sparks literally flew as workers at Chantiers de l’Atlantique welded a ceremonial coin to a massive steel docking block that forms the ship’s keel, officially marking the start of construction of the fourth ship in Celebrity Cruises‘ Edge Series: CELEBRIY ASCENT (IMO 9838400)

Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, parent company of Celebrity Cruises, and Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, placed the coins at this time-honored maritime ceremony. According to a centuries-old tradition, the laying of the coin is said to bring blessings and good luck to the ship.

CELEBRIY ASCENT is the fourth ship in the line’s Edge series, a ship class, following CELEBRITY EDGE, CELEBRITY APEX and CELEBRITY BEYOND. 17 decks high and 20 meters longer than the original Celebrity Edge, the CELEBRIY ASCENT is also designed to offer even more space and luxury on board.

CELEBRIY ASCENT is scheduled to depart Port Everglades for her first cruise on December 3, 2023. CELEBRIY ASCENT will spend her inaugural season in the Caribbean with alternating 7-day Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.

Drittes Schiff der Edge-Klasse fertiggestellt

Am 6. April 2022 fand auf der Werft Chantiers de l’Atlantique im französischen Saint Nazaire der feierliche Flaggenwechsel der CELEBRITY BEYOND statt. Damit hat die Werft den Cruise Liner an Celebrity Cruises übergeben. Bei der CELEBRITY BEYOND handelt es sich um das dritte Schiff der Edge-Klasse. Das Kreuzfahrtschiff ist mit ca. 140.600 gross tons vermessen, ist 327 Meter lang und bietet Platz für maximal 3.937 Passagiere. Die Besatzungsstärke liegt bei 1.416.

Die Jungfernfahrt der CELEBRITY BEYOND beginnt am 26. April in Southampton. Die 10-tägige Reise führt rund um die iberische Halbinsel und endet in Barcelona.

Construction of the third Edge class ship was recently completed. On April 6, 2022, the ceremonial change of flag of the CELEBRITY BEYOND took place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France. The shipyard has thus handed over the cruise liner to Celebrity Cruises. The cruise ship is measured at around 140,600 gross tons, is 327 meters long and can accommodate a maximum of 3,937 passengers.

The maiden voyage of the CELEBRITY BEYOND will start on April 26 in Southampton. The 10-day trip goes around the Iberian Peninsula and ends in Barcelona.

Viertes Schiff der Edge-Klasse in Bau

Im französischen Saint Nazaire wurde am 17. November 2021 auf den Chantiers de l’Atlantique der erste Stahlschnitt für die CELEBRITY ASCENT gefeiert. Es handelt sich bereits um das vierte Schiff der Edge-Klasse für Celebrity Cruises – nach CELEBRITY EDGE, CELEBRITY APEX und CELEBRITY BEYOND. Die Schiffe sind jeweils 306 Meter lang und mit ca. 130.000 gross tons vermessen. Besonderes Merkmal dieser Kreuzfahrtschiffe ist der sogenannte Magic Carpet, ein vertikal bewegliches Deck auf der Steuerbordseite.

Die CELEBRITY ASCENT soll bis zur zweiten Jahreshälfte 2023 fertiggestellt werden.

The first steel cut for the CELEBRITY ASCENT was celebrated on November 17, 2021 at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France. It is already the fourth Edge class ship for Celebrity Cruises – after the CELEBRITY EDGE, CELEBRITY APEX and CELEBRITY BEYOND. The ships are each 306 meters long and measured with approx. 130,000 gross tons. A special feature of these cruise ships is the so-called Magic Carpet, a vertically movable deck on the starboard side.

The CELEBRITY ASCENT is expected to be completed by the second half of 2023.

CELEBRITY APEX – Corona-Krise an Bord schon vor der ersten Reise

Die CELEBRITY APEX hat (abgesehen von ihren Probefahrten) noch nicht eine einzige Reise gemacht und ist dennoch bereits erheblich vom Corona-Virus betroffen.

Celebrity Cruises hatte vor, ihren jüngsten Neubau CELEBRITY APEX trotz Corona-Krise vom französischen Saint Nazaire aus, wo das Schiff gebaut worden war, über den Atlantik zu holen. Dazu wurden insgesamt 1.460 Personen an Bord genommen, hauptsächlich Besatzungsmitglieder. Anschließend wurde das Schiff noch am Werft-Standort unter eine freiwillige 14-tägige Quarantäne gestellt, bevor es auslaufen sollte. So sollte sichergestellt werden, dass während der Überfahrt kein Fall von COVID-19 an Bord wäre.

Doch das Virus wurde mit an Bord genommen. Nachdem während der Quarantäne einige Besatzungsmitglieder Symptome für das Corona-Virus zeigten, wurden inzwischen alle Personen an Bord getestet, und zwar in zwei Durchgängen. Das Ergebnis: 217 Personen sind bereits infiziert.

Nun soll ein Großteil der Besatzung ausgeschifft und in die Heimat geflogen werden. Dies geschieht in enger Zusammenarbeit zwischen den französischen Behörden und der Reederei, was sich dennoch auf Grund der gekappten Flugverbindungen als Herausforderung erweist.

4 Patienten wurden derweil in ein Krankenhaus in Saint Nazaire gebracht. Ein Teil der Besatzung soll an Bord bleiben, dort aber zunächst weiterhin in Isolation.

CELEBRITY APEX – Corona crisis on board before the first voyage

Apart from her sea trials, the CELEBRITY APEX has not yet made a single trip and is nevertheless already significantly affected by the corona virus.

Celebrity Cruises planned to bring her very new CELEBRITY APEX from the French port of Saint Nazaire, where the ship was built, across the Atlantic, despite the Corona crisis. A total of 1,460 people were taken on board, mainly crew members. The ship was then placed under a voluntary 14-day quarantine at the shipyard location before it was due to depart. This was to ensure that there would be no case of COVID-19 on board during the crossing.

But the virus was taken on board, though. After some crew members showed symptoms of the Corona virus during the quarantine, all people on board have now been tested in two runs. The result: 217 people are already infected.

Now a large part of the crew is to be disembarked and flown home. This happens in close cooperation between the French authorities and the shipping company, which nevertheless proves to be a challenge due to the cut flight connections.

Four patients have since been taken to a hospital in Saint Nazaire. Part of the crew is said to remain on board, but will remain isolated for the time being.

Die CELEBRITY APEX ist fertig gestellt. Das von Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire gebaute Schiff sollte eigentlich am 20. März ausgeliefert werden. Die Covid-19- Epidemie macht jedoch auch dem einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Technisch gesehen ist die CELEBRITY APEX bereit, auszulaufen. Doch das kann offensichtlich noch dauern.

Auf Grund  „technischer und administrativer Schwierigkeiten“ wurde die CELEBRITY APEX am 20. März  nämlich nicht abgeliefert. Die Übergabe des Schiffes an Celebrity Cruises soll möglicherweise  noch in den kommenden Tagen erfolgen, hieß es zwischenzeitlich.

Ohnehin wurde bereits die Eröffnungskreuzfahrt abgesagt und die Schiffstaufe Taufe verschoben.

Berichten zufolge befinden sich derzeit 1.500 Besatzungsmitglieder auf dem Cruise Liner in vorsorglicher Quarantäne. Während der nächsten 14 Tage wird die CELEBRITY APEX mit den Besatzungsmitgliedern an Bord in Quarantäne wohl weiterhin in St. Nazaire liegen bleiben. So soll sichergestellt werden, dass keines der Crew-Mitglieder mit dem Corona-Virus infiziert ist und, falls doch, dass sich das Virus nicht während der Überfahrt an Bord ausbreitet.

Eine offizielle Stellungnahme seitens Celebrity Cruises gibt es dazu jedoch nicht.

Die CELEBRITY APEX ist der zweite einer Reihe von vier Luxus-Cruise Linern der Edge-Klasse. Das erste Schiff dieser Reihe, die CELEBRITY EDGE, wurde im Oktober 2018 abgeliefert. Markenzeichen dieser Schiffe ist der sogenannte Magic Carpet, eine seitlich am Schiff angebrachte Plattform, die sich auf- und absenken lässt und für verschiedene Zwecke genutzt werden kann.

CELEBRITY APEX under precautionary quarantine

The CELEBRITY APEX has been completed. The ship built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire was supposed to be delivered on March 20. However, that has been prevented by the Covid 19 epidemic. Technically speaking, the CELEBRITY APEX is ready to sail. But that can obviously still take a while.

Due to „technical and administrative difficulties“, the CELEBRITY APEX was not delivered on March 20. The delivery of the ship to Celebrity Cruises may possibly take place in the coming days, it was said in the meantime.

In any case, the opening cruise was canceled and the christening of the ship was postponed.

There are reports that 1,500 crew members are currently in precautionary quarantine on the cruise liner. For the next 14 days, the CELEBRITY APEX with the crew on board in quarantine will probably remain in St. Nazaire. This is to ensure that none of the crew members are infected with the Corona virus and, if someone is, that the virus does not spread on board during the crossing.

However, there is no official statement yet from Celebrity Cruises.

The CELEBRITY APEX is the second in a series of four luxury cruise liners in the Edge class. The first ship in this series, the CELEBRITY EDGE, was delivered in October 2018. The hallmark of these ships is the so-called Magic Carpet, a platform attached to the side of the ship, which can be raised and lowered and used for various purposes.

Das zweite Schiff der Edge-Klasse für Celebrity Cruises, die CELEBRITY APEX (IMO 9838383), hat dieser Tage erfolgreich ihre ersten Probefahrten beendet und ist zur Bauwerft Chantiers de l’Atlantique im französischen St. Nazaire zurückgekehrt.

Bei der Edge-Klasse handelt es sich um Kreuzfahrtschiffe mit einer Größe von je ca. 130.000 gross tons und einer Länge von 306 Metern. Eine der Besonderheiten ist der sogenannte Magic Carpet, ein seitlich angebrachtes, in der Höhe verstellbares Deck, das u.a. für Events oder als Tender-Plattform genutzt werden kann.

Die Auftakt-Saison für die CELEBRITY APEX soll am 1.4.2020 beginnen.

CELEBRITY APEX completed first sea trials

The second Edge-class ship for Celebrity Cruises, the CELEBRITY APEX (IMO 9838383), has successfully completed her first sea trials these days and has returned to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France.
The Edge class are cruise ships with a size of approx. 130,000 gross tons and a length of 306 meters. One of the special features is the so-called Magic Carpet, a side-mounted, height-adjustable deck that, among other things can be used for events or as a tender platform.
The inaugural season for the CELEBRITY APEX is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2020.
