Die NORWEGIAN AURA soll erstmals 2027 in See stechen, beginnend mit einer kurzen Frühjahrs-Saison in Europa ab Mai 2027. Ab Juni 2027 wird sie für Karibik-Kreuzfahrten mit Miami als Basishafen eingesetzt – so der Plan.
Norwegian Cruise Line unveiled its newest newbuild project: the NORWEGIAN AURA. She is being built by Fincantieri in Italy. With a gross tonnage of 169,000, she will be approximately 10 percent larger than her Leonardo-class predecessors. She will accommodate 3,840 passengers based on double occupancy. The NORWEGIAN AURA is scheduled to set sail for the first time in 2027, beginning with a short spring season in Europe starting in May 2027. From June 2027, she will be deployed for Caribbean cruises with Miami as her home port – that’s the plan.
Seit 25. September liegt die NORWEGIAN JEWEL für technische und allgemeine Instandhaltungsarbeiten im Trockendock der Werft Chantier Naval de Marseille. Über diese Arbeiten hinaus soll das Kreuzfahrtschiff Aufwertungen in den öffentlichen Bereichen erhalten und einen neuen Vibe Beach Club bekommen.
Nach dem Werft-Aufenthalt führt die NORWEGIAN JEWEL eine Positionierungs-Fahrt über den Atlantik durch. In der bevorstehenden Wintersaison wird sie für Reisen zu den Bahamas, in den Panamakanal sowie in die südliche Karibik eingesetzt. Basishafen wird Miami.
Die NORWEGIAN JEWEL (IMO 9304045) wurde 2003 bis 2005 auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg für Norwegian Cruise Line gebaut. Sie ist das Typ-Schiff der Jewel-Klasse. Bei einer Länge von 294,13 Metern ist sie mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 93.502 vermessen. Sie hat Platz für 2.376 Passagiere.
Since September 25, the NORWEGIAN JEWEL has been in the dry dock at the Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyard for technical and general maintenance work. In addition to this work, the cruise ship will receive upgrades to its public areas and a new Vibe Beach Club.
After the shipyard stay, the NORWEGIAN JEWEL will conduct a positioning cruise across the Atlantic. During the upcoming winter season, she will be used for voyages to the Bahamas, the Panama Canal, and the southern Caribbean. Her base port will be Miami.

Vom 12. Bis 14. September finden die Hamburg Cruise Days 2025 statt. Entlang des Elbufers von der Hafencity bis zu den St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken wird es wieder eine maritime Meile mit zahlreichen Ständen geben, auf den sich auch die Kreuzfahrtgesellschaften präsentieren. Die größten Highlights der Hamburg Cruise Days werden aber auch dieses Jahr selbstverständlich die Kreuzfahrtschiffe sein. Sie werden sich u.a. im blau illuminierten Hafen dem Publikum präsentieren. Am 13. April 2025 wurde NORWEGIAN AQUA (IMO 9824007) in Miami getauft. Taufpate war Schauspieler Eric Stonestreet, bekannt hauptsächlich durch seine Rollen in verschiedenen US-Fernseh-Serien.
NORWEGIAN AQUA ist das erste Schiff der Leonardo-Plus-Klasse für Norwegian Cruise Line. Es ist etwa 10% größer als seine Schwesterschiffe NORWEGIAN PRIMA und NORWEGIAN VIVA.

NORWEGIAN AQUA is the first ship of the Leonardo Plus class. She is approximately 10% larger than its sister ships NORWEGIAN PRIMA and NORWEGIAN VIVA.

With a gross tonnage of 156,300 and a length of 322 meters, she is approximately 10% larger than her two predecessors, NORWEGIAN PRIMA and NORWEGIAN VIVA.
With the floating out of NORWEGIAN LUNA (IMO 9824019) on March 14, the next important milestone in the construction of the second Prima Plus class ship was reached.

Norwegian Cruise Line stellt ihr nächstes Kreuzfahrtschiff der Prima-Plus-Klasse vor: die NORWEGIAN LUNA. Das Hull Artwork dieses Kreuzfahrtschiffs wurde von US-amerikanischen Street Art Künstlerin ELLE entworfen. Bei ihrem Motiv hat sie sich eigenen Angaben zu Folge vom Mondlicht über dem nächtlichen Meer inspirieren lassen.
Die NORWEGIAN LUNA soll im Frühjahr 2026 in Dienst gestellt werden und am 4. April 2026 zu ihrer erste Karibik-Kreuzfahrt starten. In ihrer ersten Saison wird sie für Kreuzfahrten in die westliche sowie in die östliche Karibik eingesetzt.
NORWEGIAN LUNA wird mit einer Länge von 322 Metern und einer Bruttoraumzahl von 156.300 ein Schwesterschiff der NORWEGIAN AQUA, welche bis März 2025 fertiggestellt werden soll. An Bord der NORWEGIAN LUNA wird man u.a. eine Aqua Slide Coaster finden, eine Kombination aus Achterbahn und Wasserrutsche, die erstmals auf der NORWEGIAN AQUA installiert wird. Zu den weiteren Attraktionen an Bord gehört The Drop, eine Freifallrutsche über 10 Decks.
NCL presents: NORWEGIAN LUNA
Norwegian Cruise Line is introducing the next Prima Plus class cruise ship: the NORWEGIAN LUNA. The hull artwork of this cruise ship was designed by US street artist ELLE. According to her own statements, she was inspired by the moonlight over the sea at night.
The NORWEGIAN LUNA is scheduled to enter service in spring 2026 and will set sail for her first Caribbean cruise on April 4, 2026. In her first season, she will be used for cruises to the western and eastern Caribbean.
With a length of 322 meters and a gross tonnage of 156,300, NORWEGIAN LUNA will be a sister ship to the NORWEGIAN AQUA, which is scheduled to be completed by March 2025. On board the NORWEGIAN LUNA you will find an Aqua Slide Coaster, a combination of roller coaster and water slide, which will be installed for the first time on the NORWEGIAN AQUA. Other attractions on board include The Drop, a free fall slide over 10 decks.

Historisch betrachtet symbolisieren diese Münzen eine Opfergabe an die alten Götter und Göttinnen des Meeres im Austausch für Glück und eine allzeit sichere Fahrt. Im Anschluss an die Zeremonie segnete ein örtlicher Geistlicher das Schiff und ließ feierlich eine Flasche Champagner am Schiffsrumpf zerschellen.
NORWEIGAN AQUA wird eine Bruttoraumzahl von 156.300 bei einer Länge von 322 Metern haben. Norwegian Cruise Line kündigt einige Neuerung für das Schiff an: den Aqua Slidecoaster, den ersten Hybrid aus Achterbahn und Wasserrutsche; den Glow Court, einen neuen digitalen Sportkomplex mit interaktivem LED-Boden, sowie den Ocean Boulevard, NCL‘s bisher größte 360-Grad-Außenpromenade, den Ocean Boulevard. On April 23rd, the NORWEGIAN AQUA (IMO 9824007) was floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera near Venice. This marked an important milestone in the construction of the latest newbuild for Norwegian Cruise Line. NORWEGIAN AQUA will be the first Prima Plus class ship. She will be around 10% larger than her two predecessor ships NORWEGIAN PRIMA and NORWEGIAN VIVA.
As part of the float out ceremony, two coins were welded into the hull of the NORWEGIAN AQUA in a maritime tradition. Historically, these coins symbolize an offering to the ancient gods and goddesses of the sea in exchange for good luck and safe travel at all times. Following the ceremony, a local priest blessed the ship and ceremoniously smashed a bottle of champagne against the hull.
NORWEIGAN AQUA will have a gross tonnage of 156,300 and a length of 322 meters. Norwegian Cruise Line announces several new features for the ship: the Aqua Slidecoaster, the first hybrid roller coaster and water slide; the Glow Court, a new digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor, and Ocean Boulevard, NCL’s largest 360-degree outdoor promenade to date, Ocean Boulevard. The first three-bedroom duplex suites can be found in the luxurious The Haven by Norwegian®.

During a three-week shipyard stay, the NORWEGIAN JOY (IMO 9703796), operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, received extensive upgrades. This includes a new Thermal Suite in the Mandara Spa, an expanded Vibe Beach Club with new luxury cabanas and 24 new balcony cabins. Additionally, The Haven Premier Owners Suites, the most luxurious cabins on board, have been redesigned.

Auf der anschließenden Party gab Luis Fonsi einige seiner Hits zum Besten, darunter „Despacito“ oder „Echame La Culpa“.
Mit der NORWEGIAN AQUA wird ein drittes, etwas größeres Schiff dieser Klasse gebaut.

Herrera, President Norwegian Cruise Line and Harry Sommer, President + CEO Norwegian Cruise Line Holding. Godfather was Luis Fonsi, musician, singer and producer. He officially named the ship NORWEGIAN VIVA by traditionally smashing a champagne bottle on the bow. At the party afterwards, Luis Fonsi performed some of his hits, including “Despacito” and “Echame La Culpa”.

Allison Hueman, bekannt geworden durch Street Art sowie einige Markenkooperationen, darunter mit Nike oder Google, hat ein lebendiges, farbenfrohes Hull Art Work geschaffen. Das Design steht unter dem Motto „Wo der Himmel das Meer trifft“ und zeigt abstrakte und figurative Darstellungen von Himmel und Meer.
NORWEGIAN AQUA soll im April 2025 erstmals mit Gästen in See stechen. Ihr Basis-Hafen wird dabei Port Canaveral werden.

With 156,300 gross tons, the cruise ship will be around 10 percent larger than its two predecessor ships, the NORWEGIAN PRIMA and NORWEGIAN VIVA. The NORWEGIAN AQUA will accommodate more than 3,500 passengers.
For the first time, Norwegian Cruise Line has chosen a female artist to design the hull painting for the NORWEGIAN AQUA. Allison Hueman, known for her street art and several brand collaborations, including with Nike and Google, has created a lively, colorful Hull art work. The design has the motto “Where the sky meets the sea” and features abstract and figurative depictions of sky and sea.
NORWEGIAN AQUA is scheduled to set sail with guests for the first time in April 2025. Her base port will be Port Canaveral.
Mit der NORWEGIAN VIVA hat Norwegian Cruise Line ihr zweites Schiff der Prima-Klasse übernommen. Die Übergabe fand am 3. August bei Fincantieri in Marghera statt. Der neue Cruise Liner soll am 28. November in Miami getauft werden. Taufpate wird Luis Fonsi, Sänger, Musiker und Produzent, sein.
Bis April 2024 wird San Juan auf Puerto Rico der Basis-Hafen der NORWEGIAN VIVA (IMO 9823998). Anschließend kehr der Cruise Liner für die Sommer-Saison 2024 zurück nach Europa und wird für Mittelmeer-Kreuzfahrten eingesetzt.

Second Prima class ship
With the NORWEGIAN VIVA, Norwegian Cruise has taken delivery of its second Prima class ship. The handover took place on August 3rd on the Fincantieri yard in Marghera, Italy. The new cruise liner is scheduled to be christened in Miami on November 28th. The godfather will be Luis Fonsi, singer, musician and producer.
By April 2024, San Juan, Puerto Rico will be the base port of the NORWEGIAN VIVA (IMO 9823998). The cruise liner will then return to Europe for the 2024 summer season and will be deployed for Mediterranean cruises.
Gebaut in Saint Nazaire, verlängert in Bremerhaven, verschrottet in Alang: SUPERSTAR GEMINI und SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS
Die beiden Schwesterschiff SUPERSTAR GEMINI (zuletzt GEM; IMO 9008419) und SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS (zuletzt ARIUS; IMO 9008421) wurden am 26. November 2022 in Alang, Indien, auf Strand gesetzt, um dort verschrottet zu werden. Die Verschrottung dieser beiden Kreuzfahrtschiffe ist eine Folge der Insolvenz der zu Genting Hong Kong gehörenden Star Cruises.
Beide Schiffe waren Anfang der 1990er-Jahre bei den Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire für Kloster Cruise, der Vorgängergesellschaft von Norwegian Cruise Line, gebaut worden. Die Namen waren damals DREAMWARD und WINDWARD gewesen, mit Übergang in NCL geändert in NORWEGIAN DREAM und NORWEGIAN WIND. Die beiden Schiffe waren 1998 auf der Lloyd-Werft in Bremerhaven von ca. 190 Meter auf 230 Meter verlängert worden.
Two More Cruise Liners Beached For Scrapping
Built in Saint Nazaire, stretched in Bremerhaven, scrapped in Alang: SUPERSTAR GEMINI and SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS
The two sister ships SUPERSTAR GEMINI (last GEM; IMO 9008419) and SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS (last ARIUS; IMO 9008421) were beached in Alang, India on November 26, 2022 to be scrapped there. The scrapping of these two cruise ships is a consequence of the bankruptcy of Star Cruises, which belonged to Genting Hong Kong.
Both ships were built in the early 1990s by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire for Kloster Cruise, the predecessor company of Norwegian Cruise Line. The names were then DREAMWARD and WINDWARD, with transition in NCL changed to NORWEGIAN DREAM and NORWEGIAN WIND. The two ships were stretched from around 190 meters to 230 meters in 1998 at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven.
