Die ASUKA III (IMO 9936355) wird bei Fertigstellung mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 52.000 vermessen sein. Ihre Länge wir 230,20 Meter betragen.

On December 12, 2023, NYK Cruises and the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, celebrated the keel laying of the ASUKA III. The lowering of the first steel block into construction dock I in Hall 5 at the Meyer shipyard marked the start of construction of the hull.
The ASUKA III (IMO 9936355) will have a gross tonnage of 52,000 when completed. Her length will be 230.20 meters.

Am 4. Dezember 2023 hat die Meyer-Werft, Papenburg, mit der CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737) das neunte und letzte Schiff der Helios-Klasse (Excellence-Klasse) abgeliefert. Die Übergabe fand in Bremerhaven statt. Carnival Cruise Lines haben damit nach der MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) und CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456) ihr drittes Schiff dieser Baureihe erhalten.

Ninth ship of the Helios class completes the series
On December 4, 2023, the Meyer Werft, Papenburg, Germany, handed over the CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737), the ninth and final ship of the Helios class (Excellence class) to Canrival Cruise Lines,. The handover took place in Bremerhaven. Carnival Cruise Lines have now received their third ship in this series after the MARDI GRAS (IMO 9837444) and CARNIVAL CELEBRATION (IMO 9837456).
The CARNIVAL JUBILEE is 345 meters long, 42 meters wide and has a passanger capacity of 5,228 in 2,687 cabins. After the upcoming transatlantic crossing, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE will be based in Galveston, Texas.

Die SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) ist das zwölfte Schiff und erste mit LNG betriebene Schiff der Silversea-Flotte.
Die Taufe des neuen Cruise Liners soll am 12. August im italienischen Triest gefeiert werden. Anschließend soll am 14. August die Jungfernfahrt in Venedig beginnen. Die Reise führt nach Piran, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Split sowie Rovinj und endet wieder in Venedig.

Naming Ceremony in Trieste
On July 19, 2023, Meyer Shipyard, Papenburg, Germany, handed over the SILVER NOVA to Silversea Cruises. The handover ceremony took place in Eemshaven, The Netherlands.
The SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) is the twelfth ship and first LNG-powered ship in the Silversea fleet.
The christening of the new cruise liner is to be celebrated on August 12 in Trieste, Italy. The maiden voyage in Venice is then scheduled to begin on August 14th. The journey leads to Piran, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Split and Rovinj and ends back in Venice.

Der Zeitplan
Am Samstag, den 22. Juli 2023, soll die CARNIVAL JUBILEE aus der Bauhalle der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg ausgedockt werden. Dem Zeitplan zu Folge soll das Ausdocken um 9:00 Uhr beginnen und etwa drei Stunden dauern (vorbehaltlich der Wetterbedingungen). Die Wetteraussichten für Samstag Vormittag: überwiegend sonnig!
Das Kreuzfahrtschiff wird anschließend im Werfthafen vertäut, wo der Bau fortgesetzt wird.
Die Schiffs-Details
Die CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737) ist das letzte Schiff der Helios- / Excellence-Klasse für die Carnival-Gruppe. Ursprünglich war dieser Neubau einmal für AIDA Cruises vorgesehen. Der Cruise Liner, der als besondere Attraktion auch eine Achterbahn an Deck haben wird, soll bis Herbst dieses Jahres fertig gestellt werden und ihre erste Kreuzfahrt am 23. Dezember in Galveston beginnen. Das Schiff ist 344 Meter lang, 42 Meter breit und wird mit ca. 182.000 gross tons vermessen sein.

Public Event on Saturday: CARNIVAL JUBILEE floating out
Time Schedule
On Saturday, July 22, 2023, the CARNIVAL JUBILEE is scheduled to be floated out from the construction hall of the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Anybody who is interested can watch this event! The area next to the construction hall is open to public. According to the schedule, undocking is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am and last approximately three hours (subject to weather conditions). The weather forecast for Saturday morning: mostly sunny!
The cruise ship will then be moored at the pier next to the construction hall where construction will be continued.
Ship’s Details
The CARNIVAL JUBILEE (IMO 9851737) is the last Helios/Excellence class ship for the Carnival group. This new build was originally intended for AIDA Cruises. The cruise liner, which will also feature a roller coaster on deck as a special attraction, is scheduled for completion by fall of this year and will begin her maiden cruise on December 23 in Galveston. The ship is 344 meters long, 42 meters wide and will be measured at approximately 182,000 gross tons.

MANARA for conversion to Germany
Cruise Saudi has announced the establishment of its own cruise line: AROYA Cruises. The company is primarily aimed at Saudi Arabian nationals, but also non-nationals who live there permanently, as well as guests of the country.
In February this year, Cruise Saudi acquired the WORLD DREAM (IMO 9733117) from the insolvency estate of Genting Hong Kong. The cruise ship, which was renamed MANARA and was built in 2017 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, is to be converted in Germany in the coming months. The current hull artwork, which was specially tailored to Dream Cruises, will probably also be removed.

CARNIVAL JUBILEE will feature two new areas for guests to experience ocean-themed experiences: Currents and The Shores. Like on the two sister ships, there will also be a roller coaster on board.
Comprised of Deck 6 and Deck 7, Currents is an awe-inspiring and transformative space that takes guests under the waves with a playful atmosphere, innovative technology, new and exciting bars and restaurants, and live music. As guests step aboard the Currents, they are transported into mesmerizing underwater worlds, both realistic and fantastic, in a beautiful space that changes from day to night and throughout the cruise. The Portals to the Sea consists of six giant LED windows, which together with a massive wavy LED ceiling, theatrical show lighting and immersive sound design create a variety of immersive environments for guests to enjoy while sampling new, unique cocktails and flavorful dishes. Venues within Currents include:
• Inks, Ph.D – Eight octopus arms adorn this fun bar, inspired by the cleverest sea creatures who spend their time philosophizing about life underwater while enjoying a tasty libation. Unique sea-themed drinks such as color-changing cocktails, jellyfish and layered shots, as well as playful items featuring sea foam, boba pearls and unique toppings are designed to be as visually stunning as they are delicious
• The Golden Mermaid – This ultra-stylish lounge is home to a mysterious golden mermaid who swims to the depths of the oceans to find long-lost treasures of ancient civilizations and to unveil secret cocktail recipes. Cocktails inspired by precious stones and metals are crafted with edible glitter, as are drinks presented in handsome glassware and adorned with graceful embellishments for an elevated experience. The live band on stage provides a lively backdrop for entertaining conversation. The comfortable seating in the lounge is the perfect place to relax with an elegant drink before or after dinner.
• Emeril’s Bistro 717 – named after the construction number of the CARNIVAL JUBILEE on the Meyer shipyard – hull no. 717 The line’s Chief Culinary Officer, acclaimed Executive Chef Emeril Lagasse, brings guest-favorite Creole cuisine, an extensive seafood menu and an expanded raw food bar in his unique style. Emeril’s Bistro 717 serves full breakfasts with dishes like shrimp and grits, poached eggs and sides, and sweet beignets. Guests also enjoy lunch and dinner featuring seafood creations such as cooked Creole shrimp, fresh oysters, stone crab (seasonal), and lobster, as well as authentic Louisiana cuisine. Seated under stunning LED windows and a ceiling array that create a unique underwater dining experience, guests can enjoy their dishes.
Other venues in Currents include the Alchemy Bar and Carnival Kitchen.
Located on Deck 8, The Shores is where ocean meets land, a zone inspired by the way people enjoy the sea, including piers, boardwalks and beaches. A stunning three deck high school of fish art installation rises from deck 6 to deck 8 to bring guests to the surface from the currents below.
Guests stroll along the promenade alongside colorful and playful designs, including a fun ceiling panel inspired by a Ferris wheel, and cozy seating areas, both indoors and out. You can enjoy a fresh, hot pizza at Coastal Slice, a tasty sandwich or a hot dog at Beach Buns. The Marina Bar offers fun nautical designs and comfortable lounge seating for enjoying coffee and cocktails indoors on the promenade or al fresco by the sea. Rudi’s Seagrill and Cucina del Capitano complete the offer.
The other areas of the CARNIVAL JUBILEE:
• Grand Central – The heart of Carnival Jubilee. This impressive area of the ship expands over decks 6, 7 and 8. During the day it is a beautiful place for guests to enjoy a drink from the JavaBlue Cafe or one of the area cafes bars while enjoying breathtaking views of the sea. At night, the zone transforms as moving LED screens and a stage create an innovative entertainment space. • The Ultimate Playground – BOLT, the Ultimate Sea Coaster, is the centerpiece of the ship’s upper deck and features all-electric, motorcycle-inspired vehicles that hurtle 180 feet above sea level along the 800 feet track at speeds of up to reach 140 miles per hour. BOLT is complemented by other attractions designed for fun for all ages, including the WaterWorks water park and SportSquare with a miniature golf course, basketball and an exciting high ropes course.
• Summer Landing – Summer Landing will continue the relaxed atmosphere of Deck 8: This area is home to Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, long-time Carnival partner, celebrity chef and restaurateur Guy Fieri’s smoked onboard favorites, as well as a selection of Carnival’s ParchedPig offers craft beers from the onboard brewery. Die DISNEY TREASURE wird als zweites Schiff der Triton-Klasse ein Schwesterschiff der 2022 abgelieferten DISNEY WISH. Traditionsgemäß wurde eine Gedenkmünze unter den Kiel gelegt. Diese Ehre kam diesmal Philippe Genotte, Portfolio Project Management Executive bei Walt Disney Imagineering Germany zuteil.
Die DISNEY TREASURE bekommt wie ihr Schwesterschiff einen LNG-Antrieb. Sie wird mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 144.000 vermessen sein und soll 2024 abgeliefert werden.

On March 30, the keel-laying ceremony for the DISNEY TREASURE (IMO 9834741) was celebrated at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The DISNEY TREASURE as second Triton class ship will be a sister ship to the DISNEY WISH, which was delivered in 2022. Traditionally, a commemorative coin was placed under the keel. This time, this honor went to Philippe Genotte, Portfolio Project Management Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering Germany.
Like her sister ship, the DISNEY TREASURE will be powered by LNG. She will have a gross tonnage of 144,000 and is scheduled for delivery in 2024.

Keel Laying and Coin Ceremony for SILVER DREAM
On March 23, 2023, Silversea Cruises and Meyer-Werft celebrated the keel-laying of SILVER RAY, the second Nova class ship. Traditionally, commemorative coins were placed under the first building block to bring luck to the ship.
The ceremony was attended by Barbara Muckermann, President + CEO of Silversea Cruises, and Jan Meyer, Managing Director of Meyer Werft. The celebration took place next to the SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213), which is still under construction.
The SILVER RAY is scheduled to be completed by 2024. With the Nova class, the shipyard and Silversea Cruises want to set new standards on the way to zero-emission cruise ships.
Am 16. Mai 2023 wurde die ARVIA, P&O Cruises‘ neuestes Flaggschiff, auf Barbados getauft. Taufpatin war die US-amerikanische Sängerin und Tänzerin Nicole Scherzinger. Auftritte während der Feier hatte darüber hinaus auch der britische Pop-Sänger Olly Murs. Sara Cox und Trevor Nelson, zwei in Großbritannien beliebte Moderatoren und DJ’s führten durch die Veranstaltung. Die Feier fand sowohl an Bord ARVIA unter dem Sky Dome sowie am Heywood’s Beach auf Barbados statt.
Die ARVIA (IMO 9849693) war 2022 auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg für P& Cruises gebaut worden. Sie ist ein Schiff der Helios- / Excellence-Klasse.

On May 16, 2023, ARVIA, P&O Cruises‘ newest flagship, was christened in Barbados. Godmother was the American singer and dancer Nicole Scherzinger. British pop singer Olly Murs also performed during the celebration. Sara Cox and Trevor Nelson, two popular presenters and DJs in the UK, hosted the event. The celebration took place both on board ARVIA under the Sky Dome and on Heywood’s Beach in Barbados.
The ARVIA (IMO 9849693) was built in 2022 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg for P& Cruises. She is a Helios / Excellence class ship.

Das Schiff wurde vom Singapore Supreme Court freigegeben. Weitere Einzelheiten sind bislang nicht bekannt.

WORLD DREAM sold at auction
The cruise ship WORLD DREAM ((IMO 9733117)), which was arrested at Singapore after the bankruptcy of Genting Hong Kong, was successfully auctioned on February 24, 2023. The new owner is the company Cruise Saudi. The ship was renamed MANARA.
The ship was released by the Singapore Supreme Court. Further details are not yet known.

Die zuletzt für die in Insolvenz gegangenen Dream Cruises eingesetzte EXPLORER DREAM (ex SUPERSTAR VIRGO, IMO 9141077) wird wieder in Betrieb genommen. Das 1998 / 1999 bei Meyer in Papenburg gebaute Kreuzfahrtschiff fährt fortan für Resorts World Cruises unter dem Namen RESORTS WORLD ONE.
Ab 10. März werden 2- bis 3-Nächte-Kreuzfahrten ab Hong Kong angeboten Zuvor übernimmt die RESORTS WORLD ONE die Kurz-Kreuzfahrten der GENTING DREAM, die ab Mitte Februar zur regelmäßigen Inspektion und Wartung ins Dry Dock geht.
EXPLORER DREAM to be renamed RESORTS WORLD ONE
The EXPLORER DREAM (ex SUPERSTAR VIRGO, IMO 9141077), which was last used for the insolvent Dream Cruises, is put back into operation. The cruise ship, built by Meyer in Papenburg in 1998/1999, will henceforth sail for Resorts World Cruises under the name RESORTS WORLD ONE.
From March 10, 2- to 3-night cruises will be offered from Hong Kong. Before that, RESORTS WORLD ONE will take over the short cruises of the GENTING DREAM, which will go into the dry dock for regular inspection and maintenance from mid-February.
Die von der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg gebaute und 2017 fertiggestellte WORLD DREAM (IMO 9733117) kam im Auftrag der KfW IPEX-Bank Ende vergangenen Jahres in Singapur zur Versteigerung. Die KfW IPEX-Bank, eine hundertprozentige Tochtergesellschaft der KfW mit Sitz in Frankfurt / Main, hatte die WORLD DREAM als Gläubiger von Genting Hong Kong festgesetzt und schließlich die Versteigerung in die Wege geleitet. Die Versteigerung wurde vom Obersten Gerichtshof in Singapur durchgeführt und erfolgte per versiegelter Ausschreibung. Abgabeschluss war der 21. Dezember 2022. Seitdem war es erstaunlich ruhig um das Schiff. Grund dafür scheint zu sein, dass es für das gut fünf Jahre alte Kreuzfahrtschiff kaum Interessenten gab. Von Seiten der KfW sowie des Gerichts in Singapur gab es offensichtlich bislang keine konkreten Aussagen hinsichtlich eines erfolgreichen Verkaufs.
Angeblich wurde die WORLD DREAM im Zuge der Versteigerung von Resort World Cruises, Charterer des Schwesterschiffs GENTING DREAM, inspiziert. Ein Gebot wurde dem Vernehmen nach durch Resort World Cruises nicht abgegeben.
Möglicherweise sind überhaupt keine ernst zu nehmenden Gebote eingegangen. Damit bleibt die Zukunft der WORLD DREAM ungewiss. Erschwerend für den Verkauf des für den asiatischen Kreuzfahrtmarkt konzipierten Schiffs kommt hinzu, dass das baugleiche Schwesterschiff GENTING DREAM bereits für Resort World Cruises im Einsatz ist. Eine Käufergesellschaft hätte also umgehend direkte Konkurrenz.
In der westlichen Hemisphäre hingegen konzentrieren sich die großen Kreuzfahrtgesellschaften inzwischen auf neue Schiffe mit modernen, umweltfreundlicheren Antrieben. Für die kleineren Kreuzfahrtgesellschaften dürfte der Liner mit einer Kapazität von ca. 3.400 Passagieren bei einer schlicht zu groß sein. Das Schiff ist 335,20 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 150.695 vermessen.
Es muss wohl weiter Ausschau gehalten werden nach einem Käufer – so wie der Herr auf dem Bild der Rumpfbemalung des Schiffs.
What will happen to the WORLD DREAM now?

The WORLD DREAM (IMO 9733117), built by the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg and completed in 2017, was put on auction in Singapore on behalf of KfW IPEX-Bank at the end of last year. KfW IPEX-Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of KfW based in Frankfurt / Main, had arrested the WORLD DREAM as Genting Hong Kong’s creditor and finally initiated the auction. The auction was conducted by the Singapore Supreme Court and was conducted by sealed tender. The deadline for submissions was December 21, 2022. Since then it has been surprisingly quiet around the ship. The reason for this seems to be that there were hardly any interested parties for the five-year-old cruise ship. Apparently, there have been no concrete statements from KfW or the court in Singapore regarding a successful sale.
The WORLD DREAM was allegedly inspected during the auction by Resort World Cruises, charterer of the sister ship GENTING DREAM. According to reports, a bid was not submitted by Resort World Cruises.
There may not have been any serious bids at all. The future of WORLD DREAM therefore remains uncertain. The fact that the identically constructed sister ship GENTING DREAM is already in service for Resort World Cruises makes the sale of the ship designed for the Asian cruise market even more difficult. A purchasing company would therefore immediately have direct competition.
In the western hemisphere, on the other hand, the major cruise lines are now concentrating on new ships with modern, more environmentally friendly engines. For the smaller cruise companies, the liner with a capacity of around 3,400 passengers is simply too big. The ship is 335.20 meters long and measured with a gross tonnage of 150,695.

Es ist vermutlich das erste Mal in der Geschichte der Schifffahrt, dass ein Kreuzfahrtschiff dieser Größe und dieses jungen Alters versteigert wird. Die 2017 abgelieferte WORLD DREAM ist 335,20 Meter lang und mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 150.695 vermessen. Sie ist derzeit in der Nähe von Singapur aufgelegt. Die Auktion endet am 21.12.2022 um 15:00 Singapur-Zeit.

While the GENTIG DREAM, built in Papenburg, Germany, was able to resume service even after the insolvency of Genting Hong Kong and sails under charter for Resort World Cruises (we reported), the WORLD DREAM (IMO 9733117), also built by the Meyer shipyard, is getting under the hammer. It is probably the first time in shipping history that a cruise ship of this size and young age is sold on auction. The WORLD DREAM, delivered in 2017, is 335.20 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 150,695. She is currently laid up near Singapore. The auction ends on December 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Singapore time.
Bei Silversea Cruises scheint man gerade aus dem Feiern nicht herauszukommen. Hatte man in diesem Jahr bereits drei Schiffstaufen gefeiert, nämlich die der SILVER ORIGIN, SILVER DAWN und erst kürzlich der SILVER ENDEAVOUR, wurde am 23. November das nächste Event gefeiert. Auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg fand die traditionelle Zeremonie zum ersten Stahlschnitt der SILVER RAY, dem zweiten Schiff der Evolution-Klasse, statt.
Die SILVER RAY (IMO 9886225) wird ein Schwesterschiff der bereits in Bau befindlichen SILVER NOVA. Diese wird voraussichtlich im Sommer 2023 abgeliefert. Die SILVER RAY soll dann im Sommer 2024 folgen.
Beide Schiffe setzen laut Werft-Angaben mit einer Vielzahl von Innovationen neue Maßstäbe für Umweltschutz und Luxus-Kreuzfahrt. Sie werden demnach mit Abstand die nachhaltigsten ihrer Klasse sein. Dank eines innovativen Treibstoffkonzepts mit emissionsarmem LNG, einem Brennstoffzellensystem für den gesamten Hotelbetrieb sowie Batterien verfüge das neue Schiff über die bestmöglichen Maßnahmen, um Emissionen zu reduzieren.
Party atmosphere at Silversea – SILVER RAY Steel Cutting
At Silversea Cruises, the celebrations seem to be inescapable. After three ship christenings had already been celebrated this year, namely the SILVER ORIGIN, SILVER DAWN and most recently the SILVER ENDEAVOR, the next event was celebrated on November 23rd. The traditional ceremony for the first steel cutting of the SILVER RAY, the second ship of the Evolution class, took place at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg.
The SILVER RAY will be a sister ship to the SILVER NOVA, which is already under construction. The latter is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2023. The SILVER RAY should then follow in the summer of 2024.
According to the shipyard, both ships set new standards for environmental protection and luxury cruising with a large number of innovations. They will therefore be by far the most sustainable in their class. Thanks to an innovative fuel concept with low-emission LNG, a fuel cell system for all hotel operations and batteries, the new ship had the best possible measures to reduce emissions.
