STAR PRINCESS während der Probefahrten

Die STAR PRINCESS, das zweite Kreuzfahrtschiff der Sphere-Klasse von Princess Cruises, hat einen wichtigen Meilenstein erreicht: Die Probefahrten wurden erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Das Schiff, das derzeit von Fincantieri in Italien fertiggestellt wird, ist nun auf dem besten Weg, seine ersten Passagiere am 4. Oktober 2025 in Empfang zu nehmen. Von Barcelona aus wird es zu Kreuzfahrten ins Mittelmeer starten.

Fortschrittliche Technologie und Umweltbewusstsein

Vom 9. bis zum 12. August absolvierte die STAR PRINCESS (IMO 9863120) ihre letzten Tests in der Adria. Dabei wurden unter der Leitung von Kapitän Gennaro Arma die Steuerung, die Navigationssysteme sowie der Antrieb umfassend geprüft. Als zweites Schiff der Princess-Flotte, das mit Flüssigerdgas (LNG) betrieben wird, setzt die STAR PRINCESS neue Maßstäbe in der Emissionsreduzierung.

Um sowohl die Energieeffizienz als auch die Manövrierfähigkeit zu optimieren, ist das Schiff mit zwei Azipod-Antrieben ausgestattet, die eine 360-Grad-Drehung ermöglichen, sowie mit vier leistungsstarken Bugstrahlrudern für präzise Manöver in Häfen.

Luxus und Unterhaltung an Bord

Die STAR PRINCESS, das Schwesterschiff der SUN PRINCESS, ist mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 177.800 vermessen und bietet Platz für bis zu 4.300 Gäste. In der Endausbauphase werden 30 verschiedene Restaurants und Bars sowie ein vielfältiges Unterhaltungsangebot an Bord eingerichtet.

Ein besonderes Highlight sind die luxuriösen Unterkünfte, darunter über 1.500 Balkonkabinen, die einen atemberaubenden Meerblick bieten. Zu den exklusiven Veranstaltungsorten gehören „The Dome“, ein Entspannungs- und Unterhaltungsbereich mit innovativem Design, „The Arena“, ein hochmodernes Theater, sowie „Spellbound by Magic Castle®“, ein einzigartiges Speakeasy-Erlebnis.

STAR PRINCESS during Sea Trials

The STAR PRINCESS, the second Sphere Class cruise ship, has reached a significant milestone: sea trials were successfully completed. Currently being completed by Fincantieri in Italy, the ship is now on track to welcome its first passengers on October 4, 2025. She will sail from Barcelona for Mediterranean cruises.

Advanced Technology and Environmental Awareness

From August 9 to 12, the STAR PRINCESS (IMO 9863120) completed her final sea trials in the Adriatic Sea. Under the direction of Captain Gennaro Arma, the steering, navigation systems, and propulsion systems were comprehensively tested. As the second ship in the Princess fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the STAR PRINCESS sets new standards in emissions reduction.

To optimize both energy efficiency and maneuverability, the ship is equipped with two Azipod propulsion units, enabling 360-degree rotation, and four powerful bow thrusters for precise maneuvering in harbors.

Luxury and Entertainment on Board

The STAR PRINCESS, the sister ship of the SUN PRINCESS, has a gross tonnage of 177,800 tons and can accommodate up to 4,300 guests. During the final construction phase, 30 different restaurants and bars, as well as a diverse entertainment offering, will be installed on board.

A special highlight are the luxurious accommodations, including over 1,500 balcony cabins offering breathtaking ocean views. Exclusive venues include „The Dome,“ a relaxation and entertainment area with an innovative design; „The Arena,“ a state-of-the-art theater; and „Spellbound by Magic Castle®,“ a unique speakeasy experience.

Die VIKING MIRA (IMO 9852456) wurde am 31. Juli erstmals zu Wasser gelassen. Dies markiert einen wichtigen Meilenstein in der Bauphase des Schiffes. Die VIKING MIRA gilt als kleines Schiff mit 54.300 Tonnen und bietet Platz für 998 Gäste in 499 Kabinen. Das Schiff soll seine Jungfernfahrt im Frühjahr 2026 auf Routen im Mittelmeer und in Nordeuropa antreten. Die Zeremonie fand auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Ancona statt.

Das Aufschwimmen markiert den Beginn der letzten Bauphase des Schiffes. Das Ausschwimmen der VIKING MIRA begann am 31. Juli gegen 11:00 Uhr Ortszeit mit dem Durchschneiden der zeremoniellen Kordel, die das Wasser in das Baudock des Schiffes einleitete. Nach einem zweitägigen Prozess, der die VIKING MIRA zu Wasser lässt, wird sie anschließend für die Endmontage und den Innenausbau in ein nahegelegenes Ausrüstungsdock gebracht.

Floating Out of VIKING MIRA in Ancona

VIKING MIRA (IMO 9852456) was launched on July 31st. This marks a significant milestone in the ship’s construction phase. The VIKING MIRA is considered a small ship, weighing 54,300 tons, and accommodates 998 guests in 499 cabins. The ship is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage in spring 2026, sailing routes in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona.

The float out marks the beginning of the final phase of the ship’s construction. The launch of the VIKING MIRA began on July 31st at approximately 11:00 a.m. local time with the cutting of the ceremonial cord, which allowed the water to enter the ship’s construction dock. After a two-day float out process, VIKING MIRA will then be moved to a nearby outfitting dock for final assembly and interior work.

BRILLIANT LADY macht sich hübsch für ihre Jungfernfahrt

Kreuzfahrtschiff BRILLIANT LADY an der Fincantieri-Werft in Palermo

Die BRILLIANT LADY ist das vierte der Lady Ships von Virgin Voyages. Sie wurde bereits Anfang 2024 fertiggestellt und an Virgin Voyages übergeben, danach allerdings in verschiedenen Häfen aufgelegt.

Dieser Tage traf der Cruise Liner auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Palermo ein, um für seine Jungfernfahrt vorbereitet zu werden: eine 5-Nächte-Kreuzfahrt von New York nach Bermuda. Anschließend wird die BRILLIANT LADY für weitere Reisen in New York stationiert. Im Winter 2025 / 26 soll sie für Karibik-Kreuzfahrten eingesetzt werden, bevor sie zur US-Westküste wechselt.

Die BRILLIANT LADY (IMO 9870654) ist 277,20 Meter lang und mit ca. 110.000 gross tons vermessen.

BRILLIANT LADY is getting ready for her maiden voyage

The BRILLIANT LADY is the fourth of Virgin Voyages‘ Lady Ships. She was completed and handed over to Virgin Voyages in early 2024, but subsequently laid up in various ports.

The cruise liner recently arrived at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo to be prepared for her maiden voyage: a five-night cruise from New York to Bermuda. The BRILLIANT LADY will then be based in New York for further voyages. In the winter of 2025/26, she will be used for Caribbean cruises before moving to the US West Coast.

The BRILLIANT LADY (IMO 9870654) is 277.20 meters long and has a tonnage of approximately 110,000 gross tons.

On July 14, three milestones in the continued fleet expansion of Explora Journeys, the luxury brand of MSC Cruises, were celebrated in Sestri Ponente, Italy, near Genoa.

• Float-out of EXPLORA III

• Coin ceremony for EXPLORA IV

• First steel cutting for EXPLORA V

EXPLORA III (IMO 9869899) is scheduled for completion in 2026, with EXPLORA IV (IMO 9869904) and EXPLORA V (IMO 9977892) the following year. EXPLORA VI (IMO 9977907) is scheduled to follow in 2028.

Flottenaufbau bei Explora Journeys geht voran

Im italienischen Sestri Ponente bei Genua wurden am 14. Juli gleich drei Meilensteine im weiteren Aufbau der Flotte  für Explora Journeys, der Luxus-Marke von MSC  Cruises, gefeiert.

  • Erstes Aufschwimmen der EXPLORA III
  • Die Münz-Zeremonie für die EXPLORA IV
  • Erster Stahlschnitt für EXPLORA V

Die EXPLORA III (IMO 9869899) soll 2026 fertiggestellt werden, EXPLORA IV (IMO 9869904) und EXPLORA V (IMO 9977892) im Jahr darauf. 2028 soll darüber hinaus die EXPLORA VI (IMO 9977907) folgen.

Fincantieri liefert die ALLURA an Oceania ab

Ausblick auf die weiteren Bestellungen von Oceania Cruises

Am 10. Juli haben Oceania Cruises mit der ALLURA (IMO 9876969)  ihr zweites Schiff der gleichnamigen Klasse von der Fincantieri-Werft in Genua übernommen. Das erste Schiff dieser Baureihe ist die im Mai 2023 fertiggestellte VISTA. Die ALLURA ist 246 Meter lang, ist mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 67.700 vermessen und bietet Platz für 1.200 Passagiere.

Bei Oceania Cruises blickt man indes weiter nach vorn. Im Sommer 2027 soll das erste Kreuzfahrtschiff einer neuen Klasse in Dienst gestellt werden: die SONATA, vermessen mit ca. 86.000 gross tons und mit Platz für ca. 1.390 Passagiere. Zwei Jahre später, also 2029, folgt dann die ARIETTA. Optionen für zwei weitere Schiffe wurden darüber hinaus in Bestellungen umgewandelt. Diese Schiffe sollen 2032 und 2035 fertiggestellt werden.

Outlook on Further Oceania Cruises Orders

On July 10, Oceania Cruises took delivery of ALLURA (IMO 9876969), its second ship of the same name, from the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa. The first ship in this series is VISTA, completed in May 2023. ALLURA is 246 meters long, has a gross tonnage of 67,700, and can accommodate 1,200 passengers.

Oceania Cruises, meanwhile, is looking further ahead. The first cruise ship in a new class is scheduled to enter service in the summer of 2027: the SONATA, with a tonnage of approximately 86,000 gross tons and accommodation for approximately 1,390 passengers. The ARIETTA will follow two years later, in 2029. Options for two additional ships have also been converted into orders. These ships are scheduled for completion in 2032 and 2035.

Ausblick auf die weiteren Neubauten

Am 26. Juni hat die Fincantieri-Werft in Ancona, Italien, das neueste Kreuzfahrtschiff für Viking Cruises abgeliefert: die VIKING VESTA (IMO 9852444). Das Schiff hat 499 Kabinen mit Platz für 998 Passagiere.

Viking Cruises setzen damit den Ausbau ihrer Hochsee-Flotte fort. Die nächsten Schiffe der Venice-Klasse befinden sich bereits in Bau. 2026 soll die VIKING MIRA (IMO 9852456) in Dienst gestellt werden. Es folgen die VIKING LIBRA (IMO 9852468) für Ablieferung Ende 2026 sowie im Jahr darauf die VIKING ASTREA (IMO 9852470). Die beiden letzteren sollen einen modernen Wasserstoff-Antrieb bekommen.

Bis 2031 wollen Viking Cruises noch 10 Hochsee-Kreuzfahrtschiffe in Betrieb nehmen.

Outlook to Their Further Newbuilds

On June 26, the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, delivered the newest cruise ship for Viking Cruises: the VIKING VESTA (IMO 9852444). The ship has 499 cabins and space for 998 passengers.

Viking Cruises are thus continuing the expansion of their ocean-going fleet. The next ships in the Venice class are already under construction. The VIKING MIRA (IMO 9852456) is scheduled to enter service in 2026. She will be followed by the VIKING LIBRA (IMO 9852468), which is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2026, and the VIKING ASTREA (IMO 9852470) the following year. The latter two are to be equipped with modern hydrogen propulsion.

Viking Cruises plan to put 10 more ocean-going cruise ships into operation by 2031.

TUI Cruises and the Fincantieri shipyard celebrated the achievement of a significant milestone for MEIN SCHIFF FLOW on May 30th. The sister ship of the recently commissioned MEIN SCHIFF RELAX was successfully floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. After the valves were opened, approximately 130 million liters of water flowed into the dry dock.

The ceremony was traditionally accompanied by prayers and holy water, as well as the smashing of a Prosecco bottle against the ship’s hull by shipyard patron Anna Russo to wish the ship and its future passengers luck.

Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, and Cristiano Bazzara, Director of the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, celebrated this emotional moment together. MEIN SCHIFF FLOW (IMO 9862669) is scheduled to embark on its first voyage with passengers in summer 2026.

TUI Cruises und die Bauwerft Fincantieri feierten am 30. Mai das Erreichen eines bedeutenden Meilensteins für die MEIN SCHIFF FLOW, dem zweiten Schiff der InTUItion-Klasse. Das Schwesterschiff der kürzlich in Dienst gestellten MEIN SCHIFF RELAX schwamm in der Fincantieri Werft in Monfalcone, Italien, erfolgreich auf. Nach dem Öffnen der Ventile strömten dazu rund 130 Millionen Liter Wasser in das Trockendock.

Die Zeremonie wurde traditionsgemäß mit Gebeten und Weihwasser sowie dem Zerschellen einer Prosecco-Flasche am Rumpf des Schiffes durch Werft-Patin Anna Russo begleitet, um dem Schiff und seinen zukünftigen Passagieren Glück zu wünschen.

Wybcke Meier, CEO von TUI Cruises, und Cristiano Bazzara, Direktor der Fincantieri Werft in Monfalcone, feierten gemeinsam diesen emotionalen Moment. Die MEIN SCHIFF FLOW (IMO 9862669) soll im Sommer 2026 ihre erste Fahrt mit Passagieren antreten.

Erstmals ganz neue Schiffe für Marella Cruises

Die italienische Werftengruppe Fincantieri und TUI haben eine Vereinbarung zum Bau von zwei neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffen für Marella Cruises getroffen. Marella Cruises ist die britische Kreuzfahrtmarke von TUI. Die Schiffe werden die ersten Neubauten überhaupt für Marella Cruises. Zuvor hatte die Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft stets gebrauchte Tonnage übernommen.

Die neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffe werden speziell für den britischen Markt konzipiert und sollen mit einem Fokus auf Nachhaltigkeit in Sachen Umweltverträglichkeit gebaut werden. Indienststellung ist für 2030 und 2032 geplant.

Marella Cruises ordering two new ships from Fincantieri

First-ever brand-new ships for Marella Cruises

The Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri and TUI have reached an agreement to build two new cruise ships for Marella Cruises, TUI’s British cruise brand. The ships will be the first ever new ships for Marella Cruises. Previously, the cruise line had always acquired used tonnage.

The new cruise ships will be designed specifically for the British market and will be built with a focus on environmental sustainability. Entry into service is planned for 2030 and 2032.
