TUI Cruises to order two further InTUItion-class ships
Plans for two ships for Marella Cruises are given up in favor of TUI Cruises.
The Italian shipyard Fincantieri and TUI Cruises signed a contract on September 29th for the design and construction of two additional InTUItion-class cruise ships. With this important step, TUI Cruises, known for their premium segment, aim to expand their fleet for the future.
This new contract replaces the original agreement from March 2025, which called for the construction of two cruise ships for the Marella Cruises brand. Instead, two ships will now be built for TUI Cruises.
Luxury, size, and sustainability
The new additions, scheduled for delivery in 2031 and 2032, are sister ships to the already ordered MEIN SCHIFF RELAX and MEIN SCHIFF FLOW and thus belong to the innovative InTUItion class.
With an impressive gross tonnage of approximately 160,000 tons, the ships will be significantly larger than those originally planned for Marella Cruises. They will also be built to the latest environmental standards and equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of operating on both LNG (liquefied natural gas) and MGO (marine diesel oil). This underscores both companies‘ commitment to a more sustainable future for cruising.
The contract value exceeds that of the original letter of intent but remains within the financial framework already communicated on March 31, 2025 (subject to financing and other typical conditions).
